It would appear that Amanda Plate feels the same way as I do. Harry is most definitely surplus to requirements in Meghan's world.

"They're all cops under the specialisms, all trained the same to start with. In my area it was common for a detective to be moved back to uniform and area policing for a while on promotion and then back to a detective once they had some experience at the higher rank. I don't know what it is now with the single national force."

There is no single national force in the UK.

There are things like the National Crime Agency and National College of Policing but it still very much individual forces policing individual areas.
You're forgetting Police Scotland and the Police Service of Northern Ireland which are both national forces for their respective countries. The Scottish Crime and Drug Enforcement Agency was merged into Police Scotland at the same time as all Scottish territorial forces. The territorial force in my area was merged into the single national force of Police Scotland.

The National College of Policing is national only for England and Wales. As far as Scotland is concerned, the Scottish Police College is co-located with the headquarters of Police Scotland at Tulliallan Castle in Kincardine, Fife. It has provided centralised and standardised training for all police officers in Scotland (and many other countries including senior officers from Nigeria, Albania, North Macedonia etc as well as ad hoc visits from officers of many other forces such as from Germany, the Netherlands, Ireland, Norway, Australia, the FBI and so on) since the 1940s. The Inspectorate of Constabulary is also separate from that of England and Wales, while policing is controlled by the Scottish Government rather than by the Home Secretary of the Westminster Government.

In fact, the antecedents of Police Scotland are the oldest in the UK as the City of Glasgow Police were the first UK civilian police force some years before the London Metropolitan Police were formed; they were later merged into Strathclyde Police and finally into Police Scotland. The Met had to stop claiming to be the oldest force after its claims were disproved. The Scottish Police College also holds a Scottish constable's badge from the reign of George VI; I can't remember the county but it's from Angus way.

That bloody podcast is no 1 in several countries, and all the publicity I've seen for it has been from.the British press! Just ignore them if you dont want them to somehow miraculously bring down the Royal Family. But of course they couldn't give a flying f about the RF they just want stories! And I thought it was Meghan's podcast, so why would Harry be in it?

Drat, George IV, not VI!

And, to keep it on subject, the Scottish Police Memorial is also sited in the grounds of Tulliallan Castle, opened by the Princess Royal on 7 September 2004. The earliest names date from 1812.

She was late from her previous engagement but the local cops in charge of actual operational policing for the occasion brushed it off as they said that her engagements always slipped due to her speaking to everyone and not being rushed through. After the formalities of the opening ceremony, she ignored the assembled guests in the VIP tent and made sure that she spoke to every bereaved family about their loved one commemorated on the Memorial. She went far beyond what she had to do and seemed to really empathise. If course, her attempted kidnapping years ago could go have gone very wrong and luckily neither her bodyguard nor members of the public who came to assist were killed despite being wounded by the gunman.

This is morbid but have you seen the plans for what would happen if she died in Scotland? It would be epic, I wonder if it’s her intention to end her days there?

Surely Charles is more than prepared to step up when it does happen? He’s had long enough.

I haven’t, what would they do? Would she lie in state there a while or straight back to London?

Lie in state at St Giles Cathedral then be taken in procession down the royal mile with pipers etc and put on the train at Waverly Station to go back to London. There is something so magical about Edinburgh that means it would be an incredible thing to witness.

People would then gather along the tracks all the way back down like they did in the USA when Abraham Lincoln died and his body taken by train to be buried.

Must be handover. Are they doing the thing were they report knowing more. Calling the visits 'unusual' to prepare readers?

They press have been doing that for a while now. But then every time you think the end is near she suddenly makes an appearance. Almost to alleviate public fears if you like. I don’t know what to make of it anymore, but given her age is highly likely she’ll have chronic untreatable health conditions. Someone on the comments section of that article has said that the palace always downplay health problems which is true.

Anyway, I’ve just had a horrible image of Liz Truss walking behind her coffin 🤢 I think I’d rather it was Boris!

Truss of course was a republican in her youth so I doubt that, although she now says she respects the role of the monarchy as she has abandoned most of her other previous positions including backing Remain to win the Tory leadership

That's my point. Why does Harry have to make these pathetic appearances? It was like when she was doing her video chat things for her 40th birthday and he was in the background juggling or something. Hasn't he got something he could be doing himself?

I think he's playing to his old persona of the cool, funny prince but now it just comes across as desperate and fake. I also think his brief appearances generate some more headlines and interest in whatever it is that Meghan's doing so it's a PR thing too.

I am sure the Queen had seen what an utter tit show the UK has become. Took one look at her next possible prime minister’s and thought, balls to this, I’m out. Seriously, who could blame her.
