I suppose I’d be considered “Joe Bloggs” in this example.
We had to have a lockdown funeral for my Dad.
I can only speak for myself, but it DID make a difference to me that The Queen chose to sit alone for her husband’s funeral. It showed that she understood that the public had to do it for their loved ones so she wanted to do the same.
Even if it was “for show” (which I don't believe it was) she still sat alone for the funeral of her dear husband, which can’t have been easy.
Yes, she has had a life of immense privilege but, on that day, she was just a wife mourning the loss of her beloved husband under the gaze of the entire world.
I didn’t have my Dad’s funeral “live-streamed” for those who couldn’t attend because I didn't want others watching my grief - The Queen didn’t have that choice.
Sitting alone was the respectful thing to do and I appreciated it.
But she made that decision. It wasn’t forced on her. One of my close friends died during lockdown. I had to watch his funeral online. I couldn’t be there to say goodbye, I couldn’t be there to support his family. To think the very people forcing that restriction on people at the worst times of their lives were off having their jollies at parties is absolutely sickening.

How have they removed PA’s titles yet Prince Harry has retained his? This is not a dig I am just wondering how the losing of one’s titles works
Harry wanted to leave the senior royals and stop doing senior royal duties. How on earth are you even comparing him with Andrew? 🧐

Yes, she made that decision and I respected her for it.

My post was regarding The Queen sitting alone.
I made no reference to the parties.
I agree with you the parties were sickening and it absolutely disgusts me that they were going on when I didn’t even dare hug my Dad during what were to have been the last months of his life.

Harry and Andrew are equal aren’t they?
Both have had their military positions and their patronages removed.
Both still have their HRH but are not using it in an official capacity.
Both still have their Dukedoms.

That’s not really the point. Andrew got involved with nefarious stuff. That’s what I mean.

Equal in terms of official status but not equal in terms of why they had their positions removed I don’t think.

I don’t think she made that decision, I think she was following the rules as they stood at that time.

He was hated when he was in the Navy. They never wanted him as their vice admiral.

I'm trying to understand something - why would the Queen strip Andrew of his titles, etc if he hasn't been found guilty of anything yet? Wouldn't you wait until he's been found guilty?
Because she knows what is coming.

Any personal stories of when he was in the Navy?
Lazy, selfish, arrogant glory hunter. Poor team player. Constantly used his position to avoid anything he didn't feel like doing, spoke to underlings like tit- when he could be bothered to speak to them at all. Total bleep.

she also knows that they are there in a large part by the Grace of public opinion. When that starts to shift and wobble, they get a bit twitchy.

Apparently Charles and William wanted him stripped of his titles (and rightly so). I can see why, they want to make sure their cushy life continues.

The thing with the Royal Family is they operate differently to any other family. Monarchy and duty first. Family second.

Andrew might be TQ's son but his behaviour is doing considerable damage to the reputation of the monarchy.

I'm glad all the siblings were involved in the decision.

As far as the world knows Harry is not a nonce.

Yes she very quickly changed tac when she realised that public opinion was turning against her after Diana's death, changing from remote monarch to doing a tribute to her late daughter in law on TV. I think she is sensing the same thing is going to happen again if Andrew's disgusting lifestyle is not punished in some way.

They are both non working Royals and now private citizens. They both still have their Dukedom's

The difference is Harry is a whiny, woke head and Andrew is hanging around with peadophiles and sex traffickers.

yeah, especially as the men and women under Harry's command actually liked him and he spent most of his time socialising with them instead of inside the officers' mess.
