I can understand doing presents before her birthday so they don't have to take them away with them. But why a birthday cake so far from her actual birthday, when that's something you can easily get elsewhere to make the actual day special. Unless they have gone to Portugal, where there are no cakes and maybe she doesn't like melon? It's not like it was for a proper party, even then for my daughters birthday last month she only had a birthday cake on her birthday (and friends over for tea on that day so they had some too) and then I made small cakes when we had the family party after.

Also they took Isla's away with them and she had to make do with a bit of a crap, small, cheap cake and that was her birthday. She didn't get a pre birthday present opening. Esme gets a special day with cake and a trip out with Lottie, then whatever they did on holiday - Sarah said it was better than her birthday will be, then said actually no it won't be implying they have something planned whilst on holiday.

It's better that there isn't the pile of tat, even if some of the presents didn't really need to be presents. I'd prefer water and shampoo than LOL dolls, but I think there will be more to come.

I know Isla has had big birthdays in the past (Florida) but it's been years since she's really had much compared to others, she probably can't even remember much about the good ones she had. She's unlucky having it so close to Jace's because they are unable to focus on both so hers gets overlooked. She has been spoilt in the past which wasn't right either, but it must hurt to have the birthdays either side of her have bigger proper birthday cakes (sometimes more than one in the case of Jace) and she gets something in the style that would just be for a normal day after tea.

I can't stop thinking that I must be treating my soon to be 9 year old girl too old, as for her 9th bday she has a new iPhone awaiting her, nice little marshall wireless headphones, couple pairs of them pastel nike shoes and a little selection of river island clothing. ESMÉ'S 13th BIRTHDAY MORNING OPENING HER PRESENTS!!

Today isn't Esme's actual birthday but the Inghams will be on holiday for her birthday so they're doing an unofficial one a little earlier instead.

Shots of birthday banners, which look like they were printed off rather than bought. Someone has cut the number 13 out of orange card and stuck it on the wall. Sausage fingers pushes the 3 candle into the chocolate cake, which is much nicer than Isla's. Lazy, Isabelle and Creepy walk into Esme's bedroom singing happy birthday. Creepstopher still sounds ill. Isla is in the bed with Esme. Isla says the cake looks amazing, probably wishing her own cake hadn't been a slab of angel cake covered in toddler dribble and snot. Esme blows out the candle and Lazy tells her to make a wish. It's chocolate cake for breakfast.

Esme walks into the kitchen jumping and squealing. She hugs Lazy and sits on the farble floor. First present is Maui, which Isla chose. Lazy asks her if she likes it because it makes her hair nice or because of TikTok. Esme didn't expect her birthday to be today. Lazy and Granny Jane bought the same crochet kits so Esme has 2 sets. More Maui, which Isla chose. Creepstopher says she only wanted it to make her videos look preppy. Hydro flask, which is described as cute (by Esme), pretty (by Lazy) and beautiful (by Creepstopher). So basically if Creepstopher beds you and says you look beautiful, he thinks you look like a hydro flask. Esme's friend in dance has one so of course she wanted one.

Eyes and noses for crochet animals. Next is a slime kit, which was Isla's idea. Some yarn in a travel bag. Creepstopher keeps clearing his throat and definitely sounds ill. Esme's next present is yet more yarn with "colourful colours". Creepstopher says he's never heard that one and that she's definitely her mother's daughter. Isla says she chose the next present. Creepstopher wonders what it will be. It's an LOL OMG Doll called Kitty K to complete her entire collection. It will go on Esme's shelf. Isla begged Lazy to buy it.

This present is really heavy. A box of Fiji water. Creepstopher asks Esme to remind everyone why it was on her list and she says it's because it looks really nice on her shelf. Lazy explains to Granny Jane that it's preppy. Esme says it's popular water and opens the box. She squeals about the bottles and Creepstopher says this is the new generation. Onto the next present; a massive yarn bag with loads of stuff in it. Creepstopher says she can definitely make that sock. It sounds like Nannar may be at the manor as well.

White boots that Esme has been asking for for so long. The sole is very thick and will make her a little taller so I guess she wanted them to get on bigger rollercoasters at theme parks. Final present is the main present. Esme struggles to open the box and says "wait". Esme begins to cry about the Dyson airwrap inside. Lazy says the deal is they share it. Creepstopher says he can take it away with her. Esme opens the box. Creepstopher says she has to read the instructions so she doesn't mess it up. She tried the one on display on the way home from Dubai. It comes with a hair dryer.

Time for the birthday cake. Jace is sat next to the cake on the worktop and starts picking bits off the top. Esme cuts the cake. Jace tells Esme how much he wants. Esme cuts a slice and Lazy says the slice is six people's worth. More like she wants a lot left over for herself. Esme has her slice with ice cream. They're ending the vlog. Esme has her dance show today and and afterwards they're off to meet Lottie for birthday dinner. Lottie's birthday is on Tuesday the 14th.
