This is the best summer because you are at an age where you should have freedom and no responsibility. I had a part time job, went on holiday with my friends, we were out at bars(I know this isn’t ideal at 16!) and parties and just at friends houses all the time, had boyfriends etc. Isabelle is nearly 17, if she isn’t into parties etc that fine but I think it is more that she has nobody to do that stuff with.
It should be the summer she’s falling in to crushes, heartbreak, teen drama, drunken nights , realising the responsibility that comes with a part time job etc etc. god I look back so fondly on my teens and my life was far from perfect then. but it was like a soap opera and I lived for it! and the bad bits just help shape you and teach you life lessons, the good bits are priceless and you truly don’t know how carefree you really were til you’re much older. The baz luhrmann sunscreen song was out when I was around 16 and I think every teen should hear it, because it’s so poignant, especially when you’re older and realise how true the words are. It gives me goosebumps just thinking about those days. Hanging out with your mum, dad and younger siblings 24/7 would have been out of the question apart from hols.
I always think of kimmy schmidt when I think of these girls…surely they’ll be so naive and lacking in popular teenage culture references and socially stunted, yet viewed by thousands of people, it’s so strange and sad that the parents are holding them back and so publically, and it’s just totally acceptable
Insta parents are some of the worst abusers out there
go backwards and forwards but don’t like pylons or motorways. They’re not keen on chai latte or costa toasties but are much more intelligent than Dumb and Dumber. They are partial to fresh veg and aren’t fond of cheesy slop.
