During Winter, I used a heated under-blanket and hot water bottles. During Summer, I sleep with a leg out of the bed

Are silk pillowcases just a marketing gimmick or legit??? And Is mulberry a type/grade of silk?I am so glad this thread exists, merely so I can tell you about the silk duvets they flog on Ideal World late on ITV.
This guy that owns the company is the male version of Gloria Hunniford but 10 times as boring. OMG. The actual product sounds decent, but I'd never buy one out of spite. I don't want my money in this dull, dull man's pockets.
I mean, the info I could tell you on Mulberry Silk duvets, lol.

Silk pillowcases are moisture wicking and low heat absorbency. They'll keep your head cool and supported, as well as treating your skin and hair better. Due to the softer nature of silk, as well as the long strands, it is a gentler surface to sleep on, and causes less hair breakages.
And this is no Mulberry Silk, this is triple-A Mulberry silk, where the silk worms are only fed the white leaves of the mulberry bush to produce the best quality silk you can find. If they have no Triple-A mulberry silk then they just stop production. They don't blend their silks! There are also red and black mulberry leaves, but the mulberry silk company would never dare use such filth.
Also, in the multitude of years Mulberry silk has been trading this boring old fart has only received 17 returns, in all those years, can you believe it? Wow.
(I bloody warned you. It's like PTSD now, I can't even watch the boring b anymore!)

It can be absolutely sweltering outside but I have to have a bit of duvet on me.
If I get bored on right move, I lurk on John Lewis and see the £££ I could spend on pillows and duvets.

Genuinely baffled by how anyone can sleep under 10.5 tog in summer! In fact any time past about April! I am only slim, feel the cold (hands and feet usually cold) and sleep alone and I would be melting under 10.5 tog
I could possibly shed some light on this. I'm severely anemic; my body doesn't have enough red blood cells to provide oxygen to organs making it harder for my body to generate, store, and spread heat. When I'm out in the sun, I feel warm and I sweat but the second I'm in the shade (or it's night time), BAM.. I'm freezing again.
It's literally all my own fault too! I'm a vegetarian but I hate vegetables (lol) and I always forget to take iron supplements.
I have a mega weighted blanket and honestly it is the best thing I have ever purchased. It comes with a really nice cover which I wash once a week and the blanket I just spray with fabreze and hang over my patio chairs to air off.
Pillow I have one of those shaped memory foam ones. My chiropractor recommended it as I have a neck injury and I can't sleep without it now. The pillow cost more than the weighted blanket but worth every penny.

Duvet covers have to be 100% cotton, none of this bobbly, flame igniting polywhatever.
@dinosaursideways I've got a spare bed but it's not used enough to warrant replacing so I top the mattress with a spare duvet I have and it give it that padding to make it comfortable enough to sleep well.
@jordishaw 'and poor quality standards (notably multi-pack knickers)' don't get me started on knickers, my Next one's used to be my go to purchases for cotton multis. But now they are absolute pants, the elastic waists have fallen apart in less than a year.

I have to have 100% cotton because of my husbands skin allergies. M&S really pissed me off recently as I bought a 100% cotton duvet set but had to take it back because when I noticed it didn't feel right. I washed it and out it on the bed and straight away my husband noticed it was irritating him. I looked closely at the label and it had some sort of stay new/easy iron technology added and it basically felt like it could have been polyester.
I tend to buy a lot of brushed cotton because they don't seem to mess with that.
My post should have said a Mela weighted blanket not Mega! They have decent offers on usually.
I washed all my bedding today but have no inclination to make the bed up.

I keep an eye here for sales - have only bought bed linen, but that's always been excellent and the customer service is good. I would love to hear what the really expensive John Lewis emperor size winter weight down duvet is like though!I sleep with 10.5 tog all year round!!! Only recently took my electric blanket off

It's been excellent weather for line drying, and I even managed to rotate the mattress and put on clean bedding, and then I had a restorative lie down with a bag of crisps. Sometimes I make regrettable choices.
I have made the bed, it was hot, but smelt lovely. I'm missing a pillow case, too hot to investigate this. I have many pillows, I'll survive!

When ever anything fabric has some kind of label on it about new technology I get concerned
I'd like a weighted blanket, but dont like anything with polyester at all. And they all seem to be lined and filled with the stuff
