I still think it was wild that Stephanie just thought she was going to order Grant to sort all her hoarded books into categories,
put phi phi’s china and decorating books aside, and keep all the cooking books, then pack them all into boxes. She seemed surprised when Grant told her he couldn’t identify all the books in what categories in which they should be placed. Stephanie then reluctantly said she would go through the books herself.

The entitled spoiled grifting little 50 year old orphan princess doesn’t do any work herself unless absolutely forced to do so. She has become so accustomed to being waited upon hand and foot that she does not do jack tit at her dump. When she cooks, she half asses the most simple recipes, and the end results are usually burnt or look like tit. She doesn’t clean, she whines when she has to do her laundry, she doesn’t oversee or do any maintenance on the equipment or the cars at the dump, she doesn’t wash dishes, she doesn’t take care of the dog, she doesn’t garden, she doesn’t take out her own trash, she doesn’t break down any of the dozens and dozens of boxes she has delivered to the dump each week, and she can’t do even the most basic “accounting” because she is “ bad at maths.”

If loser grifter castmember Snorty cannot shop every single day of the week and instead is forced to oversee projects at the dump with Stephanie, I think he will flee the premises as quickly as possible. He is lazy as tit, cannot even manage to start a fire in the wood burners, does little to no manual labor, and is useless.

I am enjoying seeing this big screwup by Stephanie. She believes she is invincible. People are pissed off by her Laziness, entitlement, nonstop shopping, and luxury travels, lies,etc. It is interesting to see how many critical comments actually remain posted. We know that they have deleted probably hundreds of comments that are more critical than those that remain posted.
Grant get a life, take ur mute daughter travelling, not captive in a damp dump.., how does it feel being excluded from the guest dinners and eating takeaways? Fanny's getting her money’s worth..All the back breaking jobs patiently awaited ur return. Wake up FFS .. yeh it’s ur last visit… we hear that voice in ur pea head ..

I'm very surprised by the comments today. I have full faith in Stephanie's decisions as chatelaine of HER chateau. She has meticulously restored Lalande over the past 18 years and is presently working on numerous projects with the finest advisors, experts, and workmen available anywhere. The chapel is one of the most beautiful and significant examples of French gothic revival architecture and rightly should be considered a national monument. This restoration has been made possible by the vision, foresight, planning, and largesse of just one person: Stephanie Jarvis. With wonderful Philip at her side, she is carefully building up and curating the chateau's collections. With this comes the responsibility of caring for these collections and, in this case, necessarily moving them to accommodate ongoing restoration. Heavy is the head that wears the crown, as the English say. Philip is the consummate researcher and project manager; and a rock of support--both professionally and personally--to Stephanie. He will have investigated every possible option to ensure the protection of these items and, no doubt, negotiated the best price for the long term rental of the storage units for the next two to three years. Stephanie and Philip: I support you! ❤❤❤
This person clearly drank the kool-aid and licked the chapel walls!

:LOL:

An unfashionable view to some, I know, but I continue to applaud Marie for really trying while keeping her head and her cool. My applause is not without caveats and the choices of dishes are sometimes weird questionnable. She homes in on things which are simply not time efficient or appropriate for the set up. Her plating up definitely needs to stop being pseudo restaurant cheffy. Ditch pretentious techniques. Don’t gallop before you can waddle walk. However, overall, I really give her credit. She’s also introduced some order into the kitchen and I very much get the feeling she rules the roost in her domain.

Even though she wasn’t trying to do that many, attempting to turn potatoes was taking it too far and I’m glad she stopped before she ran out of time for anything else. Seven-sided tournée vegetables is an art and you need to do hundreds and hundreds before it becomes second nature. Lowest rung of the brigade de cuisine ladder in hotel kitchens and restaurants does nothing but turn potatoes, carrots, turnips. For hours. Daily. A (tedious) learning curve!

I’ve no idea what was going on with the artichoke salad. Was the artichoke heart a hidden surprise beneath everything else?

Another time-consuming undertaking was pommes Anna (and it’s stretching it describe the end result as “posh chips”). She did an acre of them for the first part of the cooking process, before cutting into identically-sized pieces before frying. Sadly, I don’t suppose the guests knew, much less appreciated, the work that went into the preparation of that one element. It’s a well-known dish. Steff, the queen of fine dining, appeared to have never seen such a thing before. It doesn’t say much for the places she’s eaten at or, indeed, her alleged voracious appetite for reading cookery books.

I was mystified by Marie using the word roti when describing the “happy accident” (her words) soup as an “Indian flavoured roti spice”. Roti is a flatbread, the flavours and spices are within the meat or vegetables you eat it with. A bit of a niche thing to pick up on, I suppose - roti wrapped around curried potatoes, meat or channa dhal was a staple where I grew up! Potato roti is on my list of Desert Island Dishes.

One thing, Marie, never, ever admit to something being a disaster. Just implement Plan B and say the minimum. Also, a purée of this this, that or the other is very last year.

I don't believe she reads loads of books, the odd novel, maybe and many of them trashy ones. The others, she occasionally dips into, thinking she may get decorating ideas but she doesn't seem to see the difference between the tasteful settings in the books as opposed to the tacky mis-mash of over-stuffed brocante-type rooms that she and her aunt like to have. Most books are for showing off purposes but she can't even manage that as she has too many and no space to display them. If she's in a hotel room on her own, her time is spent surfing the internet, looking at auctions and eBay items; designer clothes; porcelain; shoes; handbags; hotels, etc. She is far more interested in how she can spend thousands of other people's money, rather than reading books.
Fanny may have attended Oxford but surrounds herself with books because she's insecure about her intelligence. Fanny is not a deep thinker. She has the attention span of a gnat and knows she's no brain surgeon, but thinks books make her look smart.

Fanny is all about image over substance and thinks a library will make her look posh and impress people.

Fanny was a lonely child who immersed herself in books for company. She considers books as her friends and books are her security blanket/emotional support pet. Books help Fanny escape from reality. Fanny may be a 50-year-old woman, but underneath she's a lonely little girl who lives in a fairy tale world dreaming of Prince Charming. In the real world, Fanny has got her dream screwed up and instead, she's latched onto a Fairy, and no matter how often Fanny fake kisses her balding fairy frog fiancee, Snorty is never going to transform into Prince Charming.

I too love books,, my house is being taken over by them. I can guarantee though no cooking or crockery books! And as others have said do not store stuff in containers, the humidity kills it. Books will go mouldy, furniture will buckle and bend. They even kill cars stored for very long. No ventilation is the issue so humidity and heat are rampant. The attic is not ideal but a LOT better than containers

Those book boxes need to be closed with sealing tape around all seams to prevent silverfish moving into them.

I'm very concerned about those medal containers. Things can get moldy if they aren't air tight and proper ventilation. The PTO ( parent/ teacher organization) had a container like those and we lost props for plays, fundraiser items and school spirit wear. It was a shame.

jimcutting4435

Containers will be a HUGE mistake. Climate controlled de-humidified space is best.

Thats a lot of people suggesting you find an alternative way to store your books and some of them have had first hand experience. I'm thinking you perhaps should rethink your storage plan. Books are precious.

stevensmith9706

Beware of a HUGE damp problem and lack of ventilation. Everything you're storing is very susceptible to rot and warpage.

@margarethouston8998

Get a lock for valuables. That’s not the best way to store books. If one book gets mold , it will contaminate others. I worked in a museum library. We NEVER let a “ musty” book in! Check it out yourself ️ Humility control inside the house is best

Why Not Use Nattie’s and Jerry’s unfinished Apartments for storage of items susceptible of damp issues!

It seems to me Stephany that you spend an inordinate period of time bothering Marie while she is trying to prepare food. I don’t think that’s fair to her.

I'm sure it's a matter of personal taste, but to me those poor espaliered trees around the fountain look crucified. So much of the Lalande aesthetic is organic and natural - why then, are those trees tied up and tortured? P.S. Please reconsider storing wood panelling and books in metal storage containers = which unheated, uncooled, will wreak havoc on these organic materials. You may as well bake and freeze them

@N-A-uw5fp

I wouldn’t put wood, paper, or fabric in those containers! Mold! They get very moist and drip water inside.

@paulwaite2219

Gosh do not put the books etc into a metal shipping container. You have already seen what damp can do to the Chapel which has had to have dehumidifiers put into it to dry it

lindaallen9721

Is there a climate-controlled storage facility nearby? There is a great danger of disaster happening! You don’t want the items going the way of the chapel interior with moisture.

@laurenl5843

The paneling and the books will rot in those containers. Mold, damp and mice will destroy everything. I know this from experience.

@michellecook2338

Yes please do store the books in the attic at least in open boxes

There must be a ground floor room that could hold these precious items.

I share the concerns about the damp, mold and critters. And the containers were placed directly on the grass, which will rot and animals will burrow underneath. I think the vegetation should have been removed first and the containers raised up on blocks to allow air circulation and reduce the problem with animals. Unless there is more to the plan..

christinesavage4837

I have done exactly this and paid the price. Basically had to toss about 60% of the books, mostly mould but also containers are not rodent & insect proof and had damage from both cockroaches and mice as well. Don't do it if the books and panelling are important to you. I will say I was out of country, stored the containers on my parents property and they were not regularly checked but even so really don't recommend.

I watch your blog every day it is on. I usually do not make comments, however I feel this is important. I was a sales representative for large international moving companies for 30 years before I retired in 2013. I am concerned about the containers u have leased. These containers have no ventilation, they do not breath & will become extremely hot in the summer months. I am concerned about the antique paneling. The heat could cause it to buckle. Also the finish can melt & stick to fabric, paper & especially plastic. Those containers can get up to 110 to 120 degrees Fahrenheit. Blessings. Nancy Straub

Marie should get a Michelin star or two for her wonderful food she turns out! Many others have mentioned on here that it is not a good idea putting all your lovely books into a metal, unheated container, as it will ruin them. The same with furniture. Just keep glass and pottery in them. Hope you are feeling a lot better now Stephanie? Love and Blessings from Jilly & Madge, from West Devon, England. xxx

Click to watch Stephanie bullshit about Marie’s meal, declaring “ it is like being a super swanky restaurant every single weekend with you.” Still trying to justify that excessive €75 charge per diner Stephanie? Stephanie certainly looks swanky wandering around the dump with a dirty napkin. attached to a necklace. We will never see the necklace napkin holder again after this video.

Looks like Grant knows he has to fend for himself if he wants to eat decently at the dump and is ordered in a barbecue grill so he can grill steaks and other meats for himself and his daughter.

Can you believe that Stephanie proudly states in the video that she is going to store old books and crap in the storage unit for the NEXT 2 YEARS And that she isn’t going to bother to sort through the dozens of boxes of books before storing them, and instead will wait until “the library” is completed to go through the books, and determine what needs to be thrown away. She is absolutely crazy. SHE THREW NOTHING AWAY!

Grant tried to tell her in a polite way about hoarding but she blows off his concerns at 3:37 and 4:35, talking about his father, was an antique dealer who ended up becoming a collector instead because he bought so much stuff. She is so lazy and entitled that she originally expected Grant to go through all of her books and pull out and leave all the design books, antique books, porcelain books, and cookbooks. WTF? Where was the lazy shopaholic control freak Miss Chatelaine? She reluctantly went thru the books herself but did not discard even one book about of the thousands of books she has stored at the Dump and even noted that Philip added a couple hundred books to the book collection with his purchase at the latest auction.

She then rewards herself with a cold beer at the end of the day, trying to give off Amaury “working man“ vibes.
So the good news is her parents' books and the grand salon panelling, and the stealth-purchased panelling, will all be ruined by moisture, mold and mildew in two years?
I think, like the commenters, we have an obligation to tell somebody they're driving off a cliff even if we don't like them.
The patrimonie panelling deserves better. Maybe the Patreons will wake up.

The Scotch egg vlog- Fanny was pretty soused (she had been drinking) and decided to make Scotch eggs (and not much of anything else.) This was when the Rosieres came to visit. Amy and Marc arrived at night, looking exhausted and hungry, and were given two eggs total to share with the children. That was a really strange vlog- almost as strange as the one a few weeks prior where Snorts and Fanny went to visit Amy and Marc (the messy house vlog), picked asparagus from the garden, and that was pretty much what was shown for dinner. They are all a really odd lot!
Yes. Stiffing her guests, Patreons, employees, viewers and donors seems to be the essence of what she's up to. And doing it to their faces is important. On video. I wonder if she'll be paying the chapel restorers, or if they demanded half up front. I would have.

From the Gibbons FB page after a post about the Pethericks. She's one Old Trout.

Hello folks in relation to a post written by Wendy Grimwood, & now removed by her, it was me who approved Wendy's post, it was also me who created the rules. I am very aware that we do not permit any Petherick related content in the group, that was a rule based on my personal experience, water well passed under the bridge & a matter that does not require further debate. That said I like to think I am a fair person, & I do believe Billy Petherick is an excellent video producer & he has & does execute some lovely restoration work. Hence why I approved Wendy's post. Not without thought I might add, the approval did take a few days. I certainly did not approve it for someone to crucify his character, Amy Sky. Every vlogger has a different style, some we like others we don't. That does not mean they are not good at what they do, it means we do not like their style. Indeed Dan leaves the camera rolling too....also some people are more comfortable in front of a camera than others, & Billy has achieved a lot in his projects as has Dan. Whilst I believe it is very important to have constructive criticism, as I have said before, it gives the content creators an insight into what type of material their audience prefers. However, this group is not the platform to refer to anyone as clowns, Susanne Petersen, unless they are performers in the circus! Stephanie & Philip are not clowns, if you do not enjoy what the channel is creating disconnect. Amanda Maxwell Lightfoot I note you actually clicked on the heart emoji, so you are clearly thrilled by what Susanne wrote. Amanda, Stephanie's vlog, is a diary of her life, her life as she chooses to lead it, not as others think or would like to dictate she did. Indeed she will do things differently than some, but it is her choice, not yours or mine. I certainly would approach some projects from a different angle, as I am very sure if she was in control of my life she would make different decisions. There is the point, we are not in control of her life, nor should we be. This group is very well supported by Stephanie & her family, how hurtfull do you think it is for them to read such comments in a group that is supposed to be for her supporters?....with friends like that she won't need many enemies! There is NO place in this group for hateful comments, comments which the author knows will cause upset not only to their topic but to other members, the same as there is NO place here for other members who give support to such comments by liking them. Whilst I appreciate members informing me there may be a post or comment in the group that is causing concern, I do not take lightly when members start to chastise other members & start a lot of dialogue. This only fuels the fire & causes more damage than the post/comment itself. We do not require anyone to be a vigilante in this group. Wendy was bullied by your comments into removing her post, that is wrong. Also keep in mind as I have said before, there will be negative comments about Stephanie, that is fine, as long as it is in relation to vlog content, style of vlogs etc...& not of a personal or hateful nature. We cannot devour anyone who makes a negative comment..they don't like a vase..they don't like curtains etc...that is silly, members are entitled to their opinions, we must respect that. There will be members who will have their membership revoked this evening, if after reading this post they haven't left freely.
I hope this clarifies Admin's position on these matters.

Is that more pea puree again under the slab-o-meat? I see Marie is getting tricky with splitting the stem of asparagus a la restaurant where John took Fanny for lunch. She's using asparagus as garnish instead of as a side, cheap, very cheap. I wonder if any of the guests ever ask for seconds? Or is once more than enough? 🤣
Marie had to let Fanny know not to 'sample' the little bit she kept in the kitchen for staff... such measly portions.. Fanny Big Mitts will take it anyways.

Kelly Brook is launching a new feature with Homesense stores called Barkitectural Digest, a "pet interiors content series." There isn't much available about it yet except for this article in today's Daily Mail, which includes a promotional video.

Here's hoping our Ratso will be featured. Isn't it every dog's dream to live in a chateau?! :cautious:
