I reckon he was selling something on Ebay. We've often wondered where he gets his money from, so consider... I think he's buying cheap porcelain and listing it at vastly inflated prices on Ebay for auction or sale, with listings on other auction sites as well. He'd find some useless piece of antique or vintage pottery/ceramic/porcelain/silverware/lace/linen etc at Emmaus, and then justifies the exorbitant price by saying it's from Chateau de la Lande in France. It's a scheme Fanny would be in on. He hunts out likely bits of pottery etc and she, as chatelaine, provides the provenance by writing a letter on chateau letterhead for the item in 'proof' that it comes from Lielande. Is it still from lieLande, even if it's only been there for 5 seconds? She'll even pose for a photo holding the item - link to her website and YouTube and there's all the bona-fides a buyer wants! The buyer usually pays for postage, so no problem there, and if they offer free postage, those costs could easily be hidden in the long lost accounts. None of it is actually truly illegal, unless it's said the item is 'original to the chateau' and they don't ever mention the 2nd hand charity aspect of Emmaus. But who would know otherwise? A scam such as this wouldn't make vasts of money, but enough for some profit (which they naturally split) with enough left over for buying more junk. What do we think?
