I loved Yesterday.
It was such a great little film (and my Mum is in the beach crowd scenes).
I know Richard Curtis is mawkish and stuff, but I really did enjoy it.. even THAT scene.
As a Beatles fan, it was lovely.

I've mentioned here before that I saw their 1963/64 Christmas show at the Finsbury Park Astoria. It's great to look back and think that I was only a few yards away from them (venues in those days were cinema-sized, not massive arenas) but honestly you could hardly hear for the screaming.I can't wait to read it, I never tire of the Beatles.

I'm sure you'll have seen on YouTube their performances at the November 1963 Royal Variety Show and on the February 1964 Ed Sullivan Show and that's very much what the set was like that I saw - a very polished performance of a handful of singles and LP tracks.
There was a screening of the Man on the Run documentary in London last night and Paul met Paul Mescal
He's already been hanging out with Mescal as Mescal went to visit Paul to get a feeling for him in preparation for playing him. I doubt Mescal would have gained any unique insight into the man though.
Has anyone here watched the Man On The Run documentary on Paul yet? I plan on it this weekend.
I went to the cinema twice to see it
Saw it at the cinema, we really enjoyed it and it's definitely worth a watch. I was frustrated with the q and a at the end, felt such a wasted opportunity. The filmmaker who has ridiculous access to Paul asks a question thats been asked a million times before, and then goes on to tell Paul the answer. Ho hum.
If you lot could ask Paul McCartney 1 question what would you ask him?
I would ask Paul why Carnival of Light hasn't been released yet. I suspect he's embarrassed by it but die hard fans will probably still love it.
Oof, great question: what I'd really love to know is what he saw in H Mills (apart from the 2 obvious things). But if I was standing in front of him, sober, I think I'd ask what inspired the song Another Day. To me, it's a pretty fine account of low-key functional depression. Between that and Eleanor Rigby (an even better example), he seems to have a great understanding of loneliness... Just me??
Hmmmm…I know he has said when thinking of his setlists what he’d want Paul McCartney to play if he was going to see him, so I might ask him to put that aside and what set list he’d want to put together. I wonder which songs would go and which would join
This is a great question. And of course Paul fans would love him to do more of his more obscure, but excellent, back catalogue. It was an absolute privilege to hear him sing In Spite Of All The Danger on his current tour. Obvs not the greatest song he's ever written but historically really important. And that's why fans loved it.
Yes it would be great to hear more of his obscure stuff live. When he played hi hi hi and Soily for example people loved that. In terms of his ballads I’d love to hear No More Lonely Nights or Warm and Beautiful. Oh and the medley from Red Rose Speedway, One More Kiss. It’d be a long list tbh
I'm still pissed off that he's included Coming Up on the most recent leg of the tour but not the European leg, which I saw. I love that song, not only because I think it's a great song but because it inspired John to start composing again after his hiatus.
I often wonder how things would have been different if Brian Epstein had lived. I'd like to ask Paul what he thinks about that.
