Really looking forward to the remastered docu series from Disney+

Credit to them, they are doing a nice job keeping the Beatles fresh.

Been seeing people on UK Disney Plus have been comparing the Disney+ Beatles Anthology with the DVDs. They've made some changes apparently!

I thought they probably would.

Some very politically incorrect humour in the 60s, especially from John.

If they kept the originals/changed them they’re not going to please everyone. That wasn’t aimed at anyone here, but I’m seeing some comments and thinking you own the DVDs go watch them instead of coming on social media and complaining

They've edited some of the 90s interviews too. Particularly George's comment about "slightly gay looking boys" hanging around their Paris shows.

Have they repackaged the Beatles for the younger generations to make them seem fluffy and innocent? I love the Beatles but as individuals they could be problematic people and they made mistakes as we all do. No one is perfect. It sounds like Disney is whitewashing or rewriting history?
I won't be watching the new Anthology stuff. I heard a clip of Real Love the other day and John's voice sounds so unnaturally high pitched. It's God awful. I'll stick with the 90s version.
I sound like a grumpy old fart now 🤣

When they announced the four new films I said I was concerned they would be pushing the cheeky chappy, fun mop top image of the boys. Yes, they all had sides to them that weren't particularly pleasant but this does appear to be being erased from the official history. 1984 is very real these days. Thankfully there are still many of us grumpy old farts around who remember what actually happened but when we go, all that will be left is this sanitised nonsense.

45 years ago today since John was taken from us, it makes me so sad.

That pathetic creature will hopefully die in prison, I believe it regularly mades bids for parole but so far decency has won and he's stayed put.

Remembering John today. I agree that person should die in prison, he should never taste freedom again

I have heard that Yoko had prior knowledge that it was going to happen which sounds horrendous but nothing would surprise me with her, I'm afraid. It's been said that John was wanting to leave her.

John's death really hit me hard this year, thinking about his last month, last week, last day, it's unbearable. 😔 I regret reading an old People magazine article about that night, John being put into a taxi and driven to hospital, it was so dark and horrible. The Imagine movie that was made later, my family went to see it at the theatre, I was maybe in my teens then and I remember parts of it leaving a bad taste in my mouth.

We all lost him at the exact same moment and that keeps it universal. ❤ It took getting to a much older age to be able to look back and see the person he really was, warts and all, but also someone truly human.

Yes I think ?his cousin was quoted as saying John wanted to leave Yoko and return to the UK to look after his family here. Did Yoko threaten him with never seeing Sean again if he did that?
Sorry my memory is a bit hazy surrounding all this

I don't know about Yoko having prior knowledge of what happened, but by all accounts they lived pretty separate lives by that time She was in a relationship with Sam Havadtoy and moved him into the Dakota shortly after John died
I remember reading something about them dining out together on New Years Eve and that Sam was wearing John's clothes. He remained her partner for the next 20 years.

Alot of the John/Yoko grand love story is a myth.

What do others think about May Pang? From what I’ve heard she sounds like she was good for John

I like May, and she always comes across well when interviewed. According to her she continued to see John sporadically after he returned to Yoko, She definitely encouraged John to re-establish proper contact with Julian during the Lost Weekend period.

She was quiet young, though and ultimately, John probably needed someone who was willing to stand up to him and reign him in abit. He spoke abit about his heavy drinking during that period and that he didn't have a Brian/Paul/Yoko to keep him somewhat straight.

Cynthia Lennon and Julian Lennon think she was a fantastic person whom John should have stayed with.

I read rumours to that effect too. However, I've also read that Yoko was screaming uncontrollably when she was told in the hospital that he was gone. I'm not sure anyone can fake that. I do think that had he lived, there might have been a divorce in the 80s. Regarding the creature that shot him, I've always thought there was more to it but I'm not sure if we will ever get the truth.

The Sam Havadtoy thing is weird, it wasn't common knowledge amongst fans for a long time, during which, Yoko cultivated the John and Yoko beautiful romance myth. She is a very shrewd business woman and she has certainly done well out of his legacy.

Yoko screaming uncontrollably accurately describes a lot of her "music" so I wouldn't use this as any sort of evidence one way or the other.

And yet this was his most productive period in his solo career. Apart from recording his own number one albums, he also had huge success working with David Bowie and Elton John. So he was hugely successful creatively, even if he was drinking too much.

Personally I think it could have worked out better for John if Alma Cogan had not died prematurely. She could have continued to be the mother figure he craved whilst not rocking the Cynthia/Julian boat. It could have worked out better for all parties but of course we'll never know.
