The way he looks at her in that little snippet. I realise you can’t tell anything from social media but he’s looking at her so adoringly. They seem genuinely very in love.

That apron is a weird style that crossed over and hangs open at the back. There’s no way a size 6 person could not look pregnant in that apron. I love to speculate but in this instance, I 100% don’t think she’s pregnant. It’s a gross shapeless apron, nothing more.
I didn't see the live but that sounds like the type of aprons they tend to use on Bon Appetit so I'm not surprised she has one

It wasn’t clear to me if the £324 includes the price of items she’s gotten for free? She said “I’ve tallied everything because it feels like cheating to not include gifted pieces”. What does that mean? Is she telling us how much she actually spent or the market value of all the clothing she’s acquired? In any case, fully agree that all the spending doesn’t really show, as in, she always looks the same.
I don’t follow her too regularly so I’m also confused: I’ve seen many posts about how she does a capsule wardrobe, so how does all this shopping fit in with that? Doesn’t seem to make any sense, does it?
She doesn't have a real capsule wardrobe. Every season she posts a seasonal capsule wardrobe, but it's always full of on trend pieces and things rarely last more than one season. It's not that she has say ten staple pieces that she adds the odd trendy piece to, it's that she builds an entire seasonal wardrobe with tonnes of new pieces every few months. I think she's misunderstood the very idea of a capsule wardrobe.

lol in her defence, of course is exciting, is has no meat and that fits into her highly curated basic bitch lifestyle. She likes to pretend that she knows her food and cooks a lot, but there is nothing exotic about her food choices at all. I cannot recall a single time she cooks curry or anything that goes beyond salt and pepper for seasoning
She cooks curry when HelloFresh sends her the ingredients for free.

May I ask why everyone finds Mark strange? I don’t see it personally, but maybe I would if people pointed it out.

I think it’s Anna who got hold of him and never left go tbh... I remember one of her videos years ago where she was talking about uni and how she met Mark during freshers week (he lived in the flat above or something) and she said ‘he’s mine’ or something to that effect.
Because I’ve always found it weird how their life revolves around HER life (her family, moving to the place she grew up etc.) cause Mark is from the Midlands and I hardly see them talk about his family or choosing to live somewhere a bit more convenient for both of their families - although this could’ve been his choice.

Someone needs to help her with her hair.
there has to be something she can try to compliment her face more. It’s just so harsh,
I’d love to see her with a fringe or a different parting or highlights or something.
She looked much better with longer hair imo. Her head and bone structure is quite round/big (not trying to be nasty it’s just an obvious fact) and the short hair does not compliment her at all. Also because it’s short and finishes around her chin it draws more attention to her mouth/teeth. It sounds so dramatic but Since she cut her hair I can hardly Watch her videos because I’m just transfixed on her tooth/jaw.
she needs to grow her hair out - I liked it when it was super long but I also liked the length of it circa London flat times.

Of course my lovely!

Jen Campbell is my top favourite, extremely articulate and very inclusive in her reading. She’s also a writer as well (a proper one, i.e. She had published books before she was on YouTube) so I think that helps.

Jeanbookishthoughts is very funny and good for casual watching. She also explores lots of fantasy, niche romance genres, and queer lit as well.

The Farah Project, who is currently UK-based in London, though from outside the UK originally. Does fab, detailed book reviews, and also lets her viewers see day-in-the-life style stuff as well.

Lauren Wade, brilliant for reading vlogs, and she does her own mini series on Shakespeare plays which are very interesting to watch.

Booksandquills, again, is currently UK-based, though from outside the UK originally. She used to work in publishing, and is now freelance, and regularly interviews authors on her channel, which is so interesting to see. She also runs an Instagram account where she shows clothing styles inspired by classic literature! Love her, so relaxing to watch.

Sorry, I do realise that this is Anna’s thread! I just think the comparison is so interesting between those who make videos exclusively about books, and Anna who just kind of dips into it on her monthly favourites. All these women are a similar age to Anna, and have full-time jobs alongside their videos and reading, and they all read way more, and way more diversely, than Anna’s 30 books of the year, all of which seem to come from the Latest and Bestsellers sections of Waterstones.

How to Get Anna’s Look for January: A guide

Contract conjunctivitis
Wear a plain white T-shirt that you could buy for £8, but ensure it costs in excess of £60
Ditto black jeans
Guffaw a lot
Call clothes “pieces”
Guffaw some more

Wow, I hadn't fully taken that sentence in - she talking as though they are living costs which we're all subject to and can't control completely; just buy less clothes! Jeez.

Bloody hell, there’s a whole host of grandad sandal lovers here 😱 I am shocked to my core!! I walk a lot and have back issues due to some lovely slipped discs and still wouldn’t consider bringing them anywhere near my house let alone my feet 😂

Someone asked about Anna writing a cook book and she laughed and said that their cooking was very basic. Which is true, but I don't think having basic ideas has ever stopped a YouTuber from getting a book deal ;-D

I am in two minds about Anna - sometimes she chooses some nice clothes but she doesn't really offer much content. She can't help her jaw/teeth so I was uncomfortable with some of the comments on the GG thread.
Come on, really?! It's more than obvious the comments made about Anna aren't on her jaw or teeth, but on her ALWAYS choosing photos in which she always smiles like this! I mean, never in my life have I seen anyone post such unflattering pics of themselves apart from Anna!
She's boring, her style is boring and apparently she's written a book just as boring.
I used to love watching her back in the day when she lived in London , her vlogs and Lily's were my absolute fave, but both have completely lost touch with reality. Don't they all though..

Bit of an outlier here perhaps, but I have just discovered crocs.

I now have a pair of house crocs and garden crocs in the classic clog style - I actually like the awkward look of these (although I don't love all colours/patterns/styles). I have also ordered a pair of smarter low wedge sandals from their new collection (if permitted, example here: https://www.crocs.co.uk/p/womens-crocs-brooklyn-low-wedge/206453.html), and I want to get another pair of the classic clogs for errands/coffee/walks etc. They are so comfy, you can put them on and take them off without bending down, and they're on the cheaper side at £30ish. They obviously don't go with all looks/dress codes, but I'm only in casual clothes recently (jeans and t-shirt/jumper/loungewear) and I think they look great! With or without socks 😲 I can accept that they won't be to everyone's taste.

You can also get 'jibbitz' - little pictures/symbols/letters etc that go in the holes in the top to personalise them, which I previously only saw on kids' crocs, but I actually think are so fun, and what other shoes can you do that with so cheaply?! And you can take them off/change them whenever you want! Admittedly I wouldn't have got them if they didn't come free with my last purchase, but I now definitely see the appeal.

#notanad #notspon

I'm evangelising here as I've told some of my friends about them and don't know if they care :ROFLMAO:

Maybe you guys don't care either but I am enjoying the comfy sandal chat and wanted to join in after my recent discovery!

Please let me know if I influence anyone. I edited this post so many times!!

Anna’s Bon Appetit obsession is so boring. She is so desperate to be a Molly Baz x Claire Saffitz hybrid and it’s just unoriginal and dull.

Also she talks out of one side of her mouth and it really irritates me

Do this exact search and you’ll find it.

They bought it for £318,000 so quite a nice profit in 5 years!
they seem to have put on market for £400k (‘guide price £400-425’ on onthemarket.com). They really gutted the place and put so much love into it, especially in creating quite luxe bathrooms so I thought 60k might have been a little disappointing for them ultimately.

it actually is such a gorgeous place, much more sensible than most influencers and very ‘real’ but quite cool and chic. They took on a fair bit of DIY themselves too.

they bought May 2015 and her first videos there are August 2015, I went back and had a peek and this is the first video there:

(First impressions and a mini vlog 23 August 2015)

you see a bit more of the flat in Weekly Vlog #37 too.

actually feeling v nostalgic for Anna and Mark, they built a lovely home and I know they can be boring but she is deffo my favourite of the British influencers

She didn't really address Bon Appetit, Reformation and Topshop. Companies she supports and works with who are racist/sexist.

I agree, I think she has a great figure and she looks way better in the most simple outfits than I ever could. Not all of us have the same taste, obviously, but it never feels like her actual taste and looks like she buys stuff because it fits into a certain aesthetic that she wants to stick to. I used to find her absolutely gorgeous back in the day. Now with the comedy brows and overpriced unattractive outfits, I don't think she does herself justice.

Anna’s two recent posts or videos. I never watch them but just see the links on Insta stories: organising kitchen cupboards and a handbag video . The kitchen video - WTAF - she must have absolutely nothing to do at all if she has time for this. Scrambling around for lifestyle content and it’s embarassing. Those who fawn over this need to give their heads a wobble. The second video about handbags : there are dupes for the bags that cost a trillion pounds that no ordinary 20 something can afford. Anna has just lost touch. This is a big issue with these first wave influencers who got into this sphere early and must pinch themselves every day as they never would make it now. They then start going high end which bears zero resemblance to their followers anymore. As I have said before I rarely buy anything that these sheeple are schilling as there is zero originality to it they are all just selling the next big thing. I think there are many of us who feel the same. There are a few people in the beauty game who haven’t sold out British Beauty Blogger being one of them
