I normally don't mind Anna. I think she is actually OK compared to a lot of her peers. But, this post on Instagram Stories today is horrendous. The message that gives out to people, especially young girls who look up to her, is awful. So disappointed in her.

You've got a heady mix there of disordered eating, fatphobia, making light of mental health, and problematic dynamics in relationships. Nice one, Anna!

I would rate this if it was for a video, I used my favourite creators outfits and copied them for a week.... but she’s just such a fan girl who latches on to anyone she thinks is “cool”

The problem with Anna is she just latches on to trends like a bee in honey and doesn’t let go until the next one comes along. But then she’s like months behind (see: cycle shorts) so it just looks ridiculous and try-hard. She either doesn’t have an eye to spot trends as they start, or she’s so afraid to get out of her comfort zone and waits as she works up the courage to try it then obsesses (see: cycle shorts). Then the cycle starts again with something new...pun intended.

How and why have I not seen pages and pages of comments about those absolutely hideous grandad sandals?! Does she think she’s stylish in them? She looks like she’s about to embark on an over 70’s walking holiday! Absolutely horrific in every way, those monstrosities need burning, and quickly.

I do like her aesthetic in general but she does take the piss with 'capsule wardrobe' - it's anything but! And why does she keep worn shoes in the wardrobe?

Also I've just watched her talk about skincare and that £105 retinal mask. Not intending to be bitchy but her skin simply isn't selling the products for me. And for a product that doesn't even disclose the concentration of retinaldehyde, £105 is a disgrace.

I never understand how influencers cope with having so many skincare empties, my skin would go absolutely nuts if I had to try so many products so frequently.

I find Anna's content really calming to watch. In a world of very vapid vloggers I do feel she has good values, encourages reading interesting books and cooking from scratch, discourages fast fashion. I think people who dislike her are the ones who find her too unrelatable. And those who just can't see past her brows (I must admit I'm kind of also in this camp)

On more thing, LOVE her openness about being hairy and being sweaty. Other women and girls can relate, I love it! Me too hun, me too

New poster here. I used to like Anna a good few years ago...and obviously I don’t know her background, but it looks like she suddenly become “rich” and everything changed. Her make is ALL expensive. She used to have young girls as an audience but now how many people can actually relate to her? I cannot remember the last time I saw her use a product from the high street. Everything is hourglass, Chanel, Nars etc and her make up is SO boring now. I’m fed up of her orange eyelids. I stopped watching her make up videos because every look was identical. She’s just so “high class” now. Everything is fucking expensive and minimalistic. Posh, white expensive decor in her flat. No colour anywhere in her life other than on her eyelids.

Anna's got a new post up about her wardrobe and clothes spending - she's spending on average of £324 a month on clothes, which is nearly £4000 by the end of the year if that continues!

That capsule wardrobe is working wonders.....

Oh wow, you know a lot! I had no idea about all these things, but I do think she would do that. Some other brides may have made it more about them.

But regardless of all of that, she doesn’t strike me as the type of person to have a very expensive wedding.

She’s quite private about stuff like that but I’ve been watching her for about six years and have a good memory lol. She often champions an Alzheimer’s charity for any fundraising type things which maybe makes me think that the parent Mark lost was due to early Alzheimer’s. They asked wedding guests to donate to that and she sold two handbags on depop giving the proceeds to that charity and mentioned that it was a cause close to her and Mark’s hearts.

I’ll save anyone from Anna’s new vlog and summarise.

Shows us a new shirt that was £130, a new face cream that’s £110, her £115 bleached PE kit, a Bbc good food recipe, a Waitrose and partners recipe, a workout and her film club.
Yawn... I know we’re in lockdown and opportunities are limited but her content is so repetitive.

Also, her cookies are cakey. If you like that sort of thing then they’re fine but personally I prefer a crispy/chewy cookie.

Ok, I'm getting on my sustainability soapbox again...

Anna's style is very basic, minimal, and pretty attainable (the styles she likes can be found at various price points). BUT, if you're going to buy some basic linen drawstring pants WHY would you go to H&M-owned Arket? She has the finances to buy sustainable, responsibly-made, slow fashion pieces (unfortunately she ends up buying Interview with a Vampire shirts, but I digress). There are so many slow fashion brands that make these basic silhouettes and there are tons of brands on Etsy that sell made to order pieces. I've noticed a few comments about Arket's limited sizing, so again, if you want to recommend basic linen pieces, try out some brands that have extended sizing and are actually responsibly made because let's not forget that Anna won't be buying makeup from brands that aren't diverse, but she's okay with buying from brands that exploit Black and Brown people?! I certainly don't judge people for shopping fast fashion because sometimes that's the only option, but for someone like Anna who prides herself on "buying less, buying better", she cherry picks when it suits her (and where her #sponcon is coming from).

Also, what was all that word salad about Arket's linen? It's farmed on land that is otherwise not arable? I couldn't find anything on the website about it.

yes to this ! I think someone like Brittany just don't overthink 'content' in such a curated way like anna does, it's less contrived. No disrespect to anna but she is beyond basic really, she lives in a nice little bubble, doesn't really challenge herself or surrounds herself with different types of people and culture. She tries to fool us into thinking sustainability means spending alot. In reality the key is researching your products eg. you don't have to spend £50 on a face cream, look up the main ingredients and see if you can buy the main ingredient individually (i.e the glossier futuredew which is £23 can be replaced with a £5 rosehip oil! or look for reviews and online recommendations.)

I remember when Brittany B did a video on how to care for your clothes (from how to store to how to wash) now that's sustainable thinking! I hang all my clothes, fold my t shirts, iron and wash things at a low temperature, handwash clothes and have had items from h&m, topshop etc for years and they still look great i think because you have to take care of them, don't get duped into spending £100s on basis linen creased blouses!

I think Anna has the addiction of splurging money on expensive or rather overpriced things, just a few weeks ago she spent 200-300 pounds on a print; and a 450 dress just yesterday. Perhaps she associates expensive =good=quality ? Who is her target market now, who has the money to splurge on a 200 jeans/ 250 dress/ 200 prints ?

The purchasing of the dress was pure tokenism so that she could say ‘look everyone I’m supporting black women in business!’
It was completely tone deaf, not only towards BLM, but also in the midst of covid 19 where people are losing their jobs and struggling and she’s buying a £450 dress on a whim...nobody is buying that she’s been lusting after it for ages when she wasn’t and still isn’t following their Instagram account!

I'm not one to bash anyone for their clothing choices. Whatever floats your boat. However, I have no problem bashing Anna for her faux activism. She jumped on the sustainability bandwagon like the rest of them. But it doesn't mean the same thing to them as it does to me. To me it means repurposing things I already have or buying things that I want/need second hand. Not receiving #kindlygifted expensive garments from ethically sourced companies. She could probably find duplicates or close matches to most of her wardrobe in the charity shops or eBay. Will the fabrics be the same quality, maybe not. But you are still saving time, energy, and resources by buying second hand. The keyword there is buy. She'd actually have to purchase the items herself instead of waiting for these companies to shell out the freebies. I would say 90-95% of the insanely expensive stuff they own they didn't pay for. Even their furniture from West Elm was a brand deal she did when they first moved into that place. It's easy to be preachy and up your own ass when you aren't footing the bill.
