Ah ok, I was thinking it was a quiet/rural type area. Sounds dodgy - I don’t think it would hurt to inform the police as a non-emergency.
Nah its quite a big estate, used to be all farm land but there's a massive pond so houses were built alittle away from it an the reserve goes round it, when they took off running that night they went down by the pond which is a strange way to go as there's only houses on the two side of it as one side leads to the river an the other has a hill at it an they ran towards the river

So bit of a strange one this, an not sure if this is somthing I need to contact police about

A while ago I was woken at around 2am with someone standing opposite my garden, the house looks onto a nature reserve an there's a path that goes round it, thought 2am was a bit of a strange time for someone to be out so watched a bit an they seemed to stand for quite a while with a dulled down torch, so grabbed my phone in the hopes it could focus an grab a pic even though it was dark an they suddenly took off running

Few nights later, same thing although it was around midnight this time, stood for ages with a dulled torch an then walked off, thought perhaps maybe they done nightshift an this is them walking a dog an they were just waiting on it, but then started to realise that they didn't seem to be watching anything other than the houses plus the way they ran off last time didn't feel like they had a dog and also why run off if that's what you were doing

Just got them tonight again, it's 20 to 1 in the morning an definitely no dog, torch was bright an they looked like they were looking for somthing, kept shinning it across the reserve an then towards the house before going back across the reserve then turned off the torch after catching the house windows an walked off with the torch turned off

Am I just being paranoid? Will police even be intrested in this or would I be wasting their time
I would definitely raise some sort of awareness about this - be it to the police or a local community page. Maybe you'd benefit from a ring doorbell camera if you don't already have one just in case. If you live by a nature reserve all I can think he might be doing is frog gigging but it didn't seem like you described him with anything in his hands apart from the torch. Sounds dodgy - I'd report for peace of mind and maybe install cameras

Maybe I’m mad but I’d definitely call the police 😅😅😅 next time you see them I’d ring up and say it’s the 4th/5th time someone has been shining a torch into you’re house. I’d find that very frightening, you seem very brave!! 😂

Thanks, I'll prob speak with the non emergency officers about it, I did put it on our community page but at the time it was the first night, maybe I'll need to update it an say its been a few times I've seen them now an see it anyone gets in touch this time

I've thought about the ring cam but it's too expensive 😂 plus this is happening out the back of the house an the fence would stop anything being caught, if I can find a cheap cam that will be able to record a few hours I might think about that an put it by my window

I’d defo phone the police. Non emergency. I had a boy that knocked on my door asking for a random girl. This boy was only a teenager so I just assumed he was looking for his girlfriend. Or a girl he fancied. Ans then my neighbours came and asked about him as he had done the same all down the street and looking in car windows and trying door handles. So defo worth raising it. Even for peace of mind.

What would you do?

my suitcase got mixed up with someone else’s at the airport when I arrived on holiday. I took theirs back to the airport and left it locked. They must’ve guessed my lock code and stole a Chanel handbag and opened all my birthday cards and stole the one from my grandmother which had money in it.

when I get to the airport on my flight home is it worth waiting about and taking both our bags if it’s the same flight? I’ve been told there’s nothing the airline can do, and my travel insurance doesn’t cover items to the same value of the bag so all I can think is take it in to my own hands. Of course it might not be in there, the little rat might have it in their hand luggage.
I don’t know I’m just so so so so so angry

i’m so so sorry. it’s crazy to me that the airline are saying they can’t help when presumably they HAVE the other person’s details and you can confirm that a crime took place? can you report it as a theft to your local police? surely they can force the airline to comply. they caused the theft by mixing the bags up in the first place!

in terms of waiting around, be careful. you don’t know what you’re dealing with here and the type of person who opens someone else’s bag and steals from them may not be someone you want to get involved with. they could also see you take their bag and twist the situation. but i also get where you’re coming from and i think i would want to see them face to face too and get my stuff back. if you’re going to do that then make sure it’s in public and you have someone else with you. the absolute cheek of that person knowing you’re likely going to be on the same flight home!!

this is an awful situation and i can’t believe no one is helping you :( x

I went to the opticians yesterday and at the grand old age of 64, it's been decided I need glasses. Boo

Apparently, if you are on income-based ESA You can get a voucher towards the cost .. How do you know if you are on income-based? I've looked through my paperwork and can't find anything other than ESA . although I know I am on the income-based one, only because I was on the wrong one for years and didn't know and they finally switched me to the income-based one

What do I need to do to get this voucher? or is that something the opticians sort out?

Edited to say found something that says I am on income-related ESA,, So that's ok. but what do I do now?
The optician may ask you for proof of award so it's worth taking the award letter.

Does anyone else experience lags in phone calls? It’s happened on Vodafone and Three now. It’s mainly when I call an 0330 number (usually after a massive hold so I don’t want to call back). It can be for the whole call or part way through they start hearing me 5 seconds after I’ve spoken.

As a completely non violent person I’ve never wanted to punch someone in the face more than this woman. I have her full name and they wouldn’t even put us in contact to sort out swapping the bags because of GDPR. I tried to find her myself but it’s a basic name. I’m with my boyfriend here so I have backup if she was a weirdo 😂 I’m more pissed because I’m not rich in the slightest and that bag was something I saved sooooo long for as a treat to myself and she’s took it 😡😡 I hope she has a horrible life going forward

Yes, I changed to Three last year and I get it a lot. It's extremely frustrating as it all sounds normal my end. I had a telephone appointment recently and she needed to get me through the security questions before she was able to give me a call back in the hope of a better line. I ended up having to say "and" at the beginning of every bit of info I was giving so it was the 'and' that was cut off not the actual info I was giving 🥴.

I wondered if it was something to do with WiFi calling and signal dropping out as mine automatically seems to switch to that. However I've tried turning the WiFi off and it was still happens so goodness knows.

I would be kicking up so much more of a stink about this. Have you blasted the airport and the airline on Twitter? Did she leave the airport with the suitcase or did the theft take place in the airport?

Did you take pictures of her suitcase? I’d be posting online blasting her full name and the flight origin destination time etc etc, I’d be naming out anything identifiable about the case.

Definitely report it to police, get the pulse number and share it with the airport, find specific names and numbers and emails of high up people in the airline and the airport, give these to the police then write your own emails to all of them CC’ing the station/policeman.

And yes I would absolutely show up to the airport for the flight home ready to SWING at anyone who has the same case as you. I’d be on the loudspeaker at the boarding desk roaring ‘JANE SMITH COME TO THE GATE’

It could have been airport staff that robbed it, or anyone really. But if it was locked, baggage staff have a little device to open them so they could have been in and out when it was returned to the airport, knowing it couldn’t be proven to be them.
Then you’d be basically stealing an other innocent persons belongings.

Also, If I had stolen it, assuming it’s worth thousands, I’d never put it back in the case if I’d already had it lost on the outbound.

Check your house insurance in case it’s covered.

Thanks! How frustrating for you, but I’m glad to know it’s not just me. My current provider is Three and it happens more frequently. I only pick up there’s an issue because they start saying “helloooo?”. My signal strength doesn’t even affect it. I might have a moan to them and try and get some money back 🤪

this is all outstanding advice, get on twitter and put them on absolute BLAST. get her and her basic ass name. like newaccount says, tweet everyone you can. the airline, the airport, the higher-ups at the airline, keep doing it, retweet it in their replies. make this as public as possible.

i feel better knowing that your boyfriend is there, get your bag and your cards back (what kind of a person opens someone else’s birthday cards?!)

please update us, if i see anyone going off in an airline’s replies i’ll retweet 😉

But they don’t know for sure it was her. It could have happened before or after she got it. It could be a false allegation or libel couldn’t it? If it proves not to be her.
If someone was tweeting I was a thief and I wasn’t I’d be f-ing furious and pursue them for whatever I could. It’s risky until OP has evidence of it.

V random, but is anyone aware of a supplier of ~world foods~ who sell online with delivery all over the country for a not-insane charge?

I live in an area which is... Not 'diverse', but I use a lot of ingredients in cooking and stuff for around the home which I usually buy very cheaply from a "Asian & Afro" grocery shop in the nearest big town to me.
I'd love to be able to avoid the long drive, parking charges, and time out of my life if there's an online shop I've not yet found.

Has anyone in SH had their windows changed? I'm due to have mine done ( will probably be done on the coldest snowiest day ;) ) Do they do all the work from the inside? Only outside my bedroom window (bungalow) I have a ruddy great pond.
Would like to know if I should see about getting some strong boards or something, but with the price of wood right now I would rather not
