Good point, a conflict avoidant part of me has surfaced it seems 😩 😅

Does it still sound good if I drop the second sentence and don't add anything else?
you could say something like: due to another offer, I wish to withdraw from my position as (role title) with (company's name)...

congratulations on your new job btw 🤗

What colour do you normally have? If you're not up to going to the hairdressers why not just buy some sun in? I used it as a teenager. You just spray it on your hair and it lightens it through time. But don't use for too long as you might end up with a colour you hate
I have jet black hair naturally and would normally go for a lighter brown, so no "at home" colour kit works for me if the base is black :(

I’ve had this before with white tops. I think it was the fabric softener. I now use only a small amount and dilute it with water to stop it from staining
I've never noticed it on whites, just coloured tops that are all a similar fabric , so they must be prone to it . I'll try washing them on their own, without softener.

@Purrrrrrr @monga I don't think it's from the door seal cos I wipe round the seal and it only happens on certain cotton tops . I might some of that stuff to clean everything out .

Hi all just want to know if you think I'm overthinking and to forget it or whether my idea is a good one or too much!

Short version: I accidently woke up my friends toddler and he then took forever to go back to sleep meaning his dad missed dinner so I was going to get a voucher for just eat or something so he can have a hot dinner 🤣

Long version: I was going round my sisters best friend's house last night to plan her hen do. Another friend was joining us.

I went to my mums beforehand as she lives 10 mins away from sisters BF and it made sense for me to kill 2 birds as it were and not have to go home between working in the office etc. She was winding me up, as she often does, by being a bit of a mug in regards to my sister and she had had a drink which is never good with her.

Anyway I ended up leaving hers to avoid an argument. I had in my head we were meeting at 7 so left at 6:45 got there about 6:55 sat in the car replying to some texts and then rang the doorbell at bang on 7.

This is when I then realise I might have made a mistake. The dog starts barking and then I hear the toddler yell.

BFs husband invites me in. I sit down and he goes up to help with said toddler and swap with BF. On the cross over on the stairs I hear BF say he had just gone off but is awake now 😬

BF comes down and we have a hug and a chat. BF then says other friend is on their way and I realise my error.

We were meant to be meeting at 7:15 not 7. I profusely apologise and BF said it's OK I'm used to your sister (who I have ranted about previously as she is always 30 mins early at least) I said noooooo I just got my times wrong.

When other friend arrives at the right time, they have kids and obvs know not to ring the doorbell!!!! So as they was expecting her at 7:15 the door was ajar ready for her to just walk in 🤦🏼‍♀️

So basically toddler doesn't end up going to sleep until nearly 9pm! And dad missed dinner with us and basically had to eat his pizza cold 😬

My husband was like well BF should have said don't ring the doorbell. I said I shouldn't have been 15 mins early.

Anyway, well done if you have made it this far!!! I was thinking of sending them like £10/£15 just eat voucher or similar with a note apologising and saying treat yourself to some hot pizza?

Am I overthinking and should just leave it? And the voucher is a bit much? Or is that a nice gesture when I woke their kid up? Or will they think "oh dear child free idiot thinks this one bad night was her fault, how silly of her"
I think it's a lovely gesture, but not necessary to be honest. It was an easy mistake to make, and they should have told you not to ring the doorbell etc. You've apologised and I think that's all you really need to do tbh!

Not really a problem as such but more looking for any advice on best places to eat around London, want to treat the folks to a lovely dinner but having never been before I've 0 clue what's good, can't really be doing top end places that's £20+ for a meal pp, but I could do say mid range like £10 to £15 pp for a meal, it might be a long stretch trying to find a good place at that range, places here average between the £10 an £15 for a meal but it's not a city so not sure what London will take, we aren't fussy either when it comes to meals, an we will be staying around Camden but I am sure I can venture further just so long as it's not going be like a few hours bus ride away lol
£10 to £15 per head for a main do you mean? Or a whole meal?
In London, that won’t go very far at all. Even some of the well known chain style restaurants will be way above that.

Anyone know best questions to ask when getting pet insurance? I have the basics like if dental plan is included, if costs will raise after a claim, if long term illness will be covered, if anything hereditary will be covered etc

Should there be anything else I need to make sure I ask?
I’ve just renewed my pet insurance. My boy is getting on a bit now (he’s 9 😭) so my main priority was making sure the limit on the vet fees covered was the highest possible as the older they get, the more likely it is that they’ll need complex and costly treatment if something crops up. I went for £10,000 of cover with £125 excess and that includes lifetime cover for long term illness. You might also consider things like PTS and cremation, which I think you can only claim for if your pet is below a certain age, but something to keep in mind. Horrible to think about, but practical.

I had to update mine recently and was having an issue because my job didn't fall into any of the specific categories they had on the drop down menu. The person I spoke to said incorrect or outdated information can be used to refuse a pay out. In my case they said they'd just put it down as the closest option to it and make a note on the file. Basically to show I'd done everything possible my end to provide them with correct info.

My advice is that it won't matter that you haven't updated it previously, that time has passed now so don't worry about it (just don't tell them that bit). However, now you've realised then you must update it ASAP. You might be able to do this by setting up an online account so you won't have to speak to anyone. A job change shouldn't increase the premium and I doubt they will ask for the date you started the job.
Please don’t worry, insurance companies get this all the time! You can update it from your renewal date and it will be no problem, just say something like … oh I’ve just noticed this on my renewal paper work, is it possible to update my occupation so it’s more accurate. They won’t pass any remarks!!!
Thank you both. I’ve just mustered some willpower and have just sorted it via webassistant (as calling up is a hassle for me) and they didn’t ask for any dates. I also seem to have had 10 quid knocked off the renewal price too. I don’t know why these things always cause anxiety. I do read things but must admit, the job title escaped my notice. Phew, one thing off my list of things that are on my mind.

Random question but my hubby and I are flying on Sunday and we've both got the new blue passports. Anyway my husband went to sign his and he's managed to put a big black smudge on it where he's signed. Does anyone reckon that could be a problem? Slightly freaking out 😵
I don’t think anyone has ever checked my signature. Fingers crossed it will be okay for you too.

Garden waste bins are not force upon anyone, because not everyone has a garden and they are charged separately from your council tax. It’s an optional extra.

The slim bins are 120litres, you cannot be filling 720litres of waste a week and don’t have room for some junk mail surely?!

Usually councils only issue recycling bins for free, waste you have to pay for. Especially new builds. I spend way to much time dealing with this in my day job, it worries me how much I know about it all.

Your council isn't everyone else's though. We used to get our garden waste taken for free ( I say free but council tax) until two years ago and now we have to pay extra. My friend who lives a 2 minute's walk away in the next county gets her's taken for free. we get our three bins for free

Why is it people pay more and more for fewer and fewer services?

Sounds like you aren’t eating enough carbs/protein. You must drink water - or squash even, it’s so important. You sound like you are burning a hell of a lot of calories at work and you are going to the gym ontop of that? You are going to need to seriously up your calorie intake I think. It’s no wonder you feel exhausted!!!!
I’m laughing at myself because now you’ve said it to me I think it’s so obvious as to why I feel so exhausted all the time 🤣 Sometimes you just need someone to give you a reality check to realise! I’m unsure as to how much of everything I should eat. I’m going to order one of those huge water bottles otherwise I won’t stick to it!

does wearing some kind of undershirt help? i have a lovely sweater that i didn’t realise was wool when i got it - i got a long sleeved white basic top from primark to wear under it and that helped me with the itchiness, though i don’t know how it would impact your eczema.
good point, I’ll get a long sleeved t shirt and try it under. Itll be great when it gets a bit colder

Am just tired of the amount we get, for what we get in a month is ridiculous an I shouldn't have to waste the space in my bin for all that shit especially when at times my bin is full an if they bring in the charging £50 to empty it like other towns then I'll want to limit how much I need it emptied
Use them as fire lighters 😂😂😂

This is a bit of a sticky subject but maybe somebody here has been through similar. I’m with my partner almost two years and we are very happy together. He had a small bit of weight on when I met him similar to most people but in the last 3-6 months he has put on a lot more weight I’d guess maybe 2 stone. We were away in April and he said he wanted to eat healthier and lose some weight. I cook healthy dinners for us and the house is stocked with fruit/salad and nutritious food. He goes home once a week for a night or two and I think this is where the damage is happening as there will be takeaways and a night or two out drinking. If he calls to his aunt next door there is cake and sweet things on offer.
His own mother commented to him today that he had put on a few inches so it’s not just me that has noticed as I’m sure he has himself. He is a very intelligent guy but when I counted my calories back in April and May as I wanted to lose 1/2 stone for our holidays, unless meals were laid out for him and prepared he didn’t have much interest in eating healthy but yet said he wanted to lose weight.
Any ideas on what I could do to help support him? I don’t want it to become a bigger problem for him and I’d like for him to take better care of himself.
Has he definitely put weight on or is it water retention and being bloated which can make people appear fat? .

Large portion sizes , even of healthy food can lead to weight gain , so when you can , give him smaller portions. Many drinks ( especially beer) can all add up , and can have as many calories as a meal , same with snacks so he could be taking in more calories than he needs.

Genetically, some adults hit an age when they are prone to gaining weight .

I speak for myself here when I say that someone needs to be motivated to lose weight for themselves.

it’s an easy mistake to make, toddlers wake up allllll the time and take ages going back to sleep so they should have been more careful. I think an apology is just necessary but if you feel better giving them the gift card then you should. But I don’t think its needed 😊

My friends Mum passed away yesterday. We're the type of friends who don't see each other often but are very close and can always rely on each other. Any of you have advise how to best help them? If you've been in that position what was the best thing someone helped with? I don't want to just say, here if you need anything, it can be hard to reach out when needed.
It’s the mundane things that become erelevant when your consumed by grief. A shop, a dinner, maybe off to clean or do some washing. Things that will allow her to focus on herself and I suspect the funeral arrangements. If she’s alone, perhaps offer to go with her to the funeral directors etc.

Maybe the wrong thread but I'm having troubles trying to find a few things. Does anyone have any recommendations for:

Some form of comfy sliders for inside the house. Not fluffy.

A hot drink flask. Id like to take one on my evening walks. Something I can carry easily.

I have some TOMS sliders for indoors and they're a dream to wear, still going strong after 4 years !

I had a aunt that was in a god awful relationship, no matter what anyone of us in the family said she never saw it, they say love is blind an until they see for themselves then nothing you say will get them out it, it wasn't until the jackass walked out on new year with my aunt she finally seen what an asshole he was an how we were right
God it’s awful isn’t it 😕 I’ve listened to her so many times saying she’s not a fighter, she hates drama, she’s not confrontational…. But all they do is scream at each other!! They fight at home, they fight in the pub, they fight in airports, in public, on holiday…. She runs away from him and he chases her down, he punches walls, they name call…. Then she cries to me that he’s awful and so scary…. And then she goes back to him and I’m supposed to smile and pretend I’m ok with it
