Hi all, hope it’s ok to post.. I thought I’d caught myself on a rose thorn while gardening last night but it’s still sore and a bit itchy, I’m wondering if it’s a tick. What do you guys think?View attachment 3583328
Looks like a tick to me. I usually get them once a year about this time of year! You can remove them yourself with a cat/dog plastic tick remover. Usually totally harmless in the UK, but just watch out for any red swelling over the next few days (if this happens go to a and e!)

I have the loop quiet 2 (sleep ones) and they were less than £20 at black friday, currently £25, definitely not £45. Even the plus are only £30. So not sure where you are getting £45 from. Me and my husband use them and really rated them.

Has anyone applied for a 'medical driving licence', or reapplied for their driving licence after previously voluntary surrendering their driving licence for medical reasons and can tell me what to expect? I couldn't find anywhere to ask the question 😅.

I seem to have developed some kind of gum/mouth infection which started with a couple of painful ulcers. It’s really getting me down because I can’t eat properly and medicated mouthwash doesn’t seem to be doing much. There’s no point in making a doctor’s appointment (assuming I could even get one) because they’ll tell me to go to the dentist. I do have a hygienist appointment in a couple of weeks but that will be £175 and I can’t really afford two visits in one month. I’ve started rinsing with salt water but if anyone has any other suggestions I’d be eternally grateful.

Fill in the form. It’s just a preliminary form and then the actual allegations etc will be sent out in which you can deny the event
Thanks, I’m just so confused because I was in the town not that date! And it’s not a town I go to that frequently so would be super coincidental if it was a car with a similar number plate!

How do you contain an outdoor cat though? It's impossible, unless you just keep them indoors, which would be very cruel for a cat that is used to roaming. I had an indoor cat for years when we lived in a city. He was much-loved and had a nice life, until we lost him at nearly 21. It was only when we moved to the countryside that I realised how much he loved being outside and was hit with a massive load of guilt. He was too old to roam much but loved lying out in the sun and fresh air and prowling round the garden, bless him. Cats are natural roamers and predators. And, yes, indoor cats can of course be healthy and happy, but it is not a natural state of being for them, no matter how much we might tell ourselves it is.

Our neighbour has four outdoor cats. Yes, they do scratch around the beds a bit sometimes, but that's nothing compared to what the local wildlife do. The badgers absolutely devastate our borders, plus the wild ducks scratching around for grubs and so on. Not to mention the time three cows got in from the field and trampled all over. Our lawn has never recovered! I understand full well how frustrating it is for gardeners, but the way I see it I share 'my' outdoor space with all the local animals, including the domesticated ones next door, so I suck it up. It's their space too.
Catios and cat proofed gardens. I get that we share space with wildlife but cats are pets, not wildlife. While i know some cats that are used to going out might not be able to become and indoor cat, i don't agree with cats absolutely having to go outside. I prefer to have a safe indoor cat than one who might have a very exiciting but very short life. It's just a difference of opinions. I don't think it's a natural state for cats to be run over by cars or injured by stupid kids like it happens to many cats in my neighbourhood locally. But understand some people will have a different opinion on this and would prefer their cat go outside despite the risks.

Need to get a new phone, who are you all with an what is their service like? Am currently EE an find that unless am on WiFi then the phones practically useless an I don't live rural where I'd expect crap service, even the city's am finding it's having problems with signal, is anyone else better? Or do I have to accept they are all shit now

Trying & failing to look for a new job, was even turned down for a shelf stacking job at my local supermarket, I’m just fed up now, I live in a shared house, have a part time minimum wage job as a supervisor, no extra pay, they won’t up my hours (do roughly 20hrs a week) not entitled to any extra help ie with rent (it’s half my wage) & I’m just struggling so much, I just dream of having my own little place nothing fancy but my own kitchen, front door, etc (have en-suite luckily) but it’s never going to happen, I’m mid 40’s & just giving up I really am, I don’t drive, just feel like an absolute failure.
Would you consider moving? I know more rural areas are always looking for staff, especially in the hospitality sector. Plus rent would be cheaper

I got a save a date to a wedding around summer time and the bride told me the proper invited would be sent around mid October. I haven't got one do you think they just haven't sent them yet? Do I ask? I don't necessarily want to go tbh as I won't know anyone there but I'm going the hen party so I feel I have to go
Say nothing until she mentions it. And if she says you still haven’t replied just say you didn’t get the invite so just assumed numbers were being cut.

For those who are on good terms with their siblings, do you usually text them a ‘Happy New Year’ on the 1st?

I texted one sibling ‘happy new year’ and they responded back, but my other siblings didn’t send me anything. Those same siblings also forgot my birthday and only wished me a happy birthday days later.

I don’t know if I should bother wishing them a happy new year by text?
I texted my brother and received a reply. We are not close, although I wish we were, no bad blood just not a close relationship. We also live on different continents.
However we always reply to each other.
Saying this if you are not close then I would say don’t feel bad if you don’t message them. They clearly don’t feel bad

I think the best thing to do would be like @petitspois said and pull back a bit. I think it's the healthiest thing to do regardless of why the friendship has faded. If it is just that it isn't working, then pulling back your own efforts will help both of you.

But I think if it is their poor mental health, very well-minded and good intentioned people (like yourself) can accidentally put 'pressure' on that person that can mess things up a bit. If they tend to isolate themselves when their mental health is bad, it probably is a huge amount of work for them to socialise. And sometimes when a friend very kindly reaches out and tries to plan things or talk more, it can put pressure on the person struggling to not be seen as mean or ungrateful. And that pressure can make the hard task of socialising even harder, and it becomes a vicious circle. They pull back, you notice and push forward, they pull back more. I'm not sure how well I explained myself there! But it feels like this might be the situation.

I think I would simply pull back silently, play the game when they're online or want to. But put the trip planning on hold for a few weeks and see where things lie then. Sometimes the only thing you can give a situation is time.
Thank you to you and @petitspois I think you’re both right. Especially the part about mental health. I just feel really hurt and upset at the moment. I talk to this person for hours pretty much every single day and it feels like I’m going through a break up of sorts. I just want to find friends that put in the same effort I do but I’ve lost so many last year because they don’t and they don’t care enough to try and make things right. I’m starting to feel like there’s just something wrong with me

Does anyone know what happens on Ebay if you buy from a business seller that offers a warranty, but they are not responding (6 months after purchase) - can I get Paypal or Ebay involved?

Thanks for replying, I really hope it’s a bite from something else, the thought of half a tick under my skin makes me want to dramatically rush to A&E 🤣

Any exam tips? Haven't taken any exams since uni and I've got a pretty big one coming up at work and now starting to shit myself a little bit 😅 I am passing the mocks though so 🤞🏽

You’re welcome 😊 I currently have an issue with a friend which we never dated, but my friends think he fancies me with what he says and his behaviour and I’m one of those people that ending friendships are really hard for me. But being in his friend is way harder than ending it and potentially waking up to sassy messages, or uncomfortable behaviours.

I think you know what you want to do Espically if this isn’t something you’ve ever considered before. Sometimes you’ve got to look at short time pain vs long term gain.
I am one of those people too, and it means we put up with more in a friendship than most. Cutting someone off hurts but it's so much better than keeping someone in your life who makes you feel rubbish about yourself.

I’m not sure if this is the right thread but I’m not sure where else to put it.
my maternity leave ends this month 🥲 and I don’t have another job to go to. I am looking and applying but it’s ideally got to be after school hours due to childcare.
im planning on going for job seekers to maintain a part income whilst I look but this won’t cover my mortgage.
any ideas for extra income jobs? Does anyone get job seekers.. how much is it a week realistically? I don’t know what to do I’m frantically looking but any afterschool jobs I’ve seen start at 3:30 which doesn’t work and I have a bit of savings to dip into for now but don’t want to diminish it all 😔

I have no tips I am afraid but I had it recently.
Only went on a day boat trip - 12 hours ish.
That night in bed I felt like I was still it sea. It did subside and pardon the pun it did lessened and came in waves and eventually passed after a week or so xx
Thank you! Today has been the worst day so far, I wonder if it's because I've not moved much. This was my first cruise and we had horrific weather! I was fine on board but suffering for it now. It's really put me off doing one again x

It wasn't for something like travel money was it - that's classed as a cash advance and interest would be calculated daily. I made this mistake last year but following a phone call to the bank they waived it.
No, it was a mix of purchases, we just can't work out why you'd get interested when it says on it that if you pay in full then you don't get that, that's also how mine works, if I pay it off in full within the time limit then I get 0 interest but the bank has put on almost £50 for them on a balance that was zeroed

Without details is hard to say and I appreciate why you haven't given them. Are you looking to get the compensation out of your own insurers or a third parties? Or are you looking to go after your insurance company outside of the claim via solicitors?

Usually, they would be covering the cost for alternative accommodation, the costs to repair any damage and and medial needs you have as a result of the incident. It would all depend on your specific policy if there was anything more in terms of compensation.
They have not covered accommodation or anything so far. It’s the person at fault’s insurance. I’m open to either option tbh, my life has been in ruins for months

I've got the dilemma of whether I should fix my car , or let it go .I've recently had work done on it , but I think the clutch needs replacing ,which can be expensive.
If I buy a different car , I can only stretch to something about 10/12 years old anyway, so I'm wary of buying someone else's problem.
