Thanks guys for suggestions. Foot deodorant might be a good shout actually - I’ve never tried it before!

Will try out a few different things and see what works best. I can’t do flip flops, walking in them hurts my ankles. I’ve not tried many sandals to be honest, so I may have to pop into town the weekend and see what my options are 😊
Mitchum antiperspirant. Goodbye to sweat, smells, and always on offer in Boots!

Not so much a problem but like a king for advice S IV recently lost weight and need some new clothes.im taking the opportunity to buy quality items that will last for once!

Jumpers - any recommendations for soft jumpers? Possibly cashmere or merino wool?

Trousers - comfy stylish trousers that are not jeans?

Coat - something warm and waterproof that won't make me look frumpy 😂

PJ's - a top and trouser bottom set that is really soft and comfy

Robe - ideally a towelling one that feels like one you get at the spa?

Trainers - what trainers is everyone wearing these days? Ideally would want something that goes with most jeans/leggings etc
Next have good quality soft pjs and jumpers. Don’t like their jeans though so maybe someone else can suggest elsewhere that have better ones x

The idiots who lived in my house before me used gorilla adhesive to stick a mirror that isn’t shatter proof. Cue me trying to remove said mirror and ending up covered in tiny shards of glass while the majority of it is still stuck to the tiled wall.
Any thoughts on how to get this off? I’ve covered the back wall in wd40 and white spirit in the hope it dribbles down, but it’s not worked.
Do-solv it / sticky stuff remover!

That is SOOOO out of order. Wow. Report and tell them absolutely not to do it again
I did have a few words with the guy at the door but really it wasn't his fault, he probably had no choice as they are quite the bullies, so unfortunately he got the brunt of my anger, I am hoping he went back to them about what I said but now am left with the knowledge that random staff know where the house is

I bought a ‘brand new’ pair of jeans from Net a Porter. This pair of jeans is not second hand. The internal side of the pockets came full of bubbles (cotton bubbles similar to when a top has been worn too many times).

I’m not sure if I need to return them because I don’t know if it’s a case where they’ve been worn and returned or they just got like that from how they were maintained in the warehouse?!
Return them and I hope you paid with paypal or something similar.
I returned a pair of trainers because they were damaged and they didn’t even bother to acknowledge anything apart from that they received them back. I had to open a paypal dispute, which again they didn’t acknowledge and then paypal returned my money.
I will never buy from them again

Laundry question - I have a Habitat cotton throw and the label says ‘FOR THE LOVE OF GOD DONT WASH ME’ but what is the worst that could happen? I am shit at laundry (and house plants) but I want this clean and fresh. Am I destined to ruin it completely if I give it a cold hand wash cycle in the machine?

If in doubt hand wash it.

Yeah they can redo just the one wall, but it needs to dry out before they can do that so your bathroom might be out of comission for a few weeks.

If there is moisture behind the tub /shower inset (if you have one) or underneath the floor it might be worth moving the reno forward if you can swing it at all.

Or possibly they can open up the cupboard wall and leave it exposed so it has a chance to dry out, that could be feasible too.

It all depends on how saturated the wall is and if it has seeped into the underfloor of the bathroom as well. Is the floor tiled? If you leave that moisture there (as it will not be able to evaporate underneath the tiles) it will eventually damage the joists and you will have to renew them which is not a fun nor cheap task at all.
It’s not tiled, there’s laminate there at the moment… well, under the tub and in the cupboard there isn’t much of anything. We moved in last year and there are so many cowboy DIY jobs that have been done around the house and little holes everywhere I can’t wait to give the house the love it deserves. Bringing reno forward… not sure it’s possible currently but we may have to see how viable it is. That is a worry for tomorrow though- thank you for your help 😊

Does anyone know if its possible for pest control to come and do their thing without you having to vacate the property? We have a rat problem but we also have 2 cats and a dog (you'd think that would be the end of the rat problem but nope) plus my mum is disabled with various health issues so we can't really just pack up and relocate for a bit without a serious amount of upheaval and stress.
It would depend on what they use an what chemicals, some may use toxic chemicals that would require you to vacate for the day, while others may use traps to catch them an you'd be fine at home

Folks, have come home from hospital destroyed with residue from the tape they used for the cannula, IV lines etc. I’ve scrubbed my skin raw to no avail. Anything I might have laying around the house (or could get in supermarket) that might sort it out? My arms and chest are wrecked!
Have not tried personally but waterproof eye make up remover will remove hair dye from skin. And surgical spirit should remove sticky stuff. Witch hazel is a possible

not tried personally. there are a few other possibles but not designed for skin

We’ve changed the bedding together today which is unusual as we normally do it solo whilst the other fights for their life with the toddler. It’s caused a bit of a tiff, so I’m putting it to the internet to decide who is right:

On your duvet there are usually seams running across the length to break it into quarters; should they be horizontal or vertical on the bed?
my kingsize one has to go vertical but my sons single has to go horizontal or they won’t fit the cover. I agree it depends on the brand as i have had kingsize horizontals before

Are you in a position to access private mental health assessment? Then maybe you could get some support through your council with a formal diagnosis (sorry if I missed a bit and you have one I’ve read this thread really fast) even if it’s for a cleaning service now and again who could remove some of the mess? Not on the same level but when I was severely mentally ill I had a cleaner who came once a month to help. Apart from that I think you wait for the moment you’re ready ❤ you sound like you’ve had a rough time and you’re just not ready to heal and that’s okay. One day you will be. ❤
Ive only £60 a week for everything and resorting to begging and stealing for basics, including meds that the nhs won’t pay for anymore.

Thank you so much for your lovely post.

M&s have been mentioned as have probably the biggest selection of cashmere / merino knitwear of the high Street.

I'd recommend using a waterproofing treatment at home to waterproof a coat as a lot of them don't withstand heavy rain. Or buy one from an outdoor brand.

Trainers- New Balance are comfy and hard-wearing.

Me again, random question, my dad has been watching all these YT videos about people getting Amazon return mystery boxes an wants to try it 🙄 but I cannot see where they are getting them from, am assuming most of these YT vlogs are fake but does this actually exist? I can see a few mystery boxes but it's either toys or make up, I can't see anything about getting a "returns" mystery boxes themselves
I think you can buy them as a business but it seems to be an American thing. I haven’t heard anything like that in the UK, in fact it seems like they'd rather destroy the stuff bc then it's a tax writeoff

Hello anyone. Hope this is the right place to post this. Does anyone use domestic cleaning services? I feel very embarrassed about this, but I really struggle to keep my home clean, and so I was looking at hiring a cleaner to come maybe once a month to do some deep cleaning. I'm not sure though - I feel embarrassed and I'm also not sure how normal this would be? Does anyone else regularly use cleaning services? Are they worth it? Is it expensive? Are they discreet or will your entire neighbourhood know you have a team over? Is it safe?
We have a regular cleaner. It can actually motivate you too because while they never judge, you do kind of "get ready" for them.
Just to add another opinion, you might consider a shorter time but more frequently, talk to them, tell them your expectations and they'll advise. It really is a profession and skill and they will be able to guide you.

Someone parked in the parking spot that’s under my apartment lease. I don’t have a car but regardless, the parking spot comes with my apartment in the lease (and is therefore paid for as part of my rent) and no one else should park there.

I rang the security in my building to check what the story is and I was told off because I rang from an unknown number. I didn’t even realize the caller ID was switched off.

I mean seriously. What kind of nonsense is this? The security office keeps a record of all cars registered to access the parking lot.

I took pictures of the offending car parked in my space.

Two questions:
- If it is not an isolated incident and the car takes over my space, what can I do if the security refuses to help?
- If I found out my agent/landlord gave the spot away without informing when it is part of my lease and therefore paid for in my rent, what can I do? Can I ask for a rent reduction?
I’d hope it’s a one off. If not then the person needs to be told as it may be a genuine mistake. If not ….. I’d be buying a car to park in the space and leave it there so no one else can 😆

I had a sofa from Next 2 years ago (not long in the grand scheme of things) but it has lasted way better than my previous SCS sofa.

Anyone done much camping? Considering it for a number of reasons but wanted some general advice about what to expect/buy/not do?

thanksssss

I’ve just had a phone call from the police my ex has done a complaint of harassment to me but I’ve not messaged in 4 weeks so would he have gone to them recently? Because if he has it’s really really odd
Hard to say, police matters aren't exactly quick at most things, it could have been a while ago an only being delt with now

Am not sure how they deal with things like this now but seems strange it was a phone call, I'd have expected either a official letter or visit than a phone call since you can't exactly prove who's on the other end
