Anyone had success getting money back after buying something from a dodgy website?

My mum is very naive and bought some perfume online from a website without properly researching it. The perfume has arrived and it's clearly a fake, it says "Tester - not for sale" on the box. No info on the website about refund policy only a contact email.

She's emailed them to ask for the refund, but do you think the next option is to ask for chargeback with her bank?
i don’t think she’ll get a chargeback with her bank sadly - the product has been delivered to her as ordered (ie, it’s a bottle of perfume). is it the right perfume but just a tester? have you checked through the website she used? they’re normally pretty smart on how they word things in terms of not claiming to be associated with real brands etc. if there’s wording in there that implies it would be a real legitimate product then there’s no harm in trying the bank.

the only way i can think is to request a refund directly from the website itself. though i will say that i don’t know many people who have had luck with that in similar situations :(

I need advice asap please.

Our house has a shared stop tap with both neighbours, but we also have one in the cellar too. Neighbour has a leak and he’s turned our supply off. We’ve turned it back on and explained to him what he needs to do, but he’s gone back out and turned it off again. This has happened three times. We wonder if he has dementia and he is forgetting what we’ve told him. We obviously can’t go without water all day/night. What on Earth do we do?

ETA: he won’t let anybody in his house to take a look either.

Deffo get in touch. I read your post, clicked away and suddenly thought “hang on”, I know there is legislation to stop this. It should NOT be happening but they will always chance someone not knowing.

Follow up, please.

No matter what an agent “says” to you on a call, they have little to no power.

Remember, never take legal advice from an opponent.
much appreciated!! Just one thing after another, im in at the breast clinic tomorrow for a suspected cyst so will get in touch on Monday. It’s just daft I looked back on the bank and I was paying my DD of £75 a month (back in 2020 so much cheaper) so they want another 1.8k on top of that for 6 months of usage 😐I now have a toddler so I am at home every day and then my husband too and I am spending no where near that even with the shit show prices

Has anyone ever had to take something back while they are still signed into things an it's been ok?

My tablet is 4 month old an won't switch on so it's going back, but obviously am still signed into things on it, email, my Google account etc, I've changed my passwords but am still a bit paranoid, am assuming it will just go back to the factory an they will instantly factory reset it but I still don't like that I can't get it on to sign out of everything 😫
Have you googled how to do a forced restart, or factory reset? Some laptops have a pin hole which on insertion of a paper clip will start.

My downstairs toilet keeps making a weird noise which I can only describe as a sigh. It was funny at my first, my kids howl at it but now it’s getting ridiculous. Sometimes there doesn’t seem to be enough water in it. How do I resolve it? The noise is starting to becoming more of a howl

I feel so stupid writing this but there we go😂

Have you had a second opinion? If it is a standard brick house there should be a cavity to prevent penetration from the outside.
It’s a rendered house. There’s a lot of jargon I didn’t quite understand/forgot 😅😅😅 he said rendered houses are usually colder but my wall was about 7 degrees 😅

I have recently gained a bit of weight. For about 2.5 years, I worked for a team that worked me to the bone. Long hours and stress led to me barely eating. It took a turn for the worse when my dad died a year ago. I’m 5’1 and went from weighing about 43kg to under 40kg. I wasn’t starving myself intentionally but I was so stressed, I couldn’t eat. I was very thin and I was floating in my clothing.

Fast forward, I left my previous team and tried to stabilize my work/life balance which has led to me eating my three meals properly etc. The issue is now I’m constantly hungry and it seems my body is not satisfied with the food it gets.

This therefore has led to a bit of weight gain which I’m not too fond of. I preferred my body at my lowest weight which I know was not healthy.

I’m not sure how to stop being hungry all the time.

Has anyone experienced this?
sorry to hear about your dad. Have you recently changed contraception? When I had the implant I was extremely hungry all the time.

I feel like, reading between the lines, you’re thinking maybe he might get her pregnant with his fourth, perhaps a third marriage in the cards, and that you wish it’s you in this situation and quite possibly would be you had you played things closer to the chest. Just remember he already has three children to think about and that you and any child you have with him would be getting a quarter of his to share, in the best case scenario where he is a good dad.

Please forget about him and throw your line back out again 🎣
Yeah basically!! One of my other issues that I always feel like I’m never good enough for relationships/kids etc. always the one who is good for sex or string along until they decide they want a girlfriend.

And I’ve only known this friend since October too. So it was hard navigating a friendship and now this.

Looking for advice on if you can report a scam in the workplace

My dad works in a carehome an does this "lottery" it's £10 a month an you only get it if your number is the bonus ball but only on specific Saturdays

His number actually come out last week but they told him that this month it needs to be the last Saturday of the month, in the 5 years he's worked there he's had it maybe a few times but they keep changing what Saturday in the month it's going be

I wish he would stop but unfortunately he's gets a bit talked into things an honestly I don't know if they are talking the elderly into this scam as well

I have explained it’s hard for me to give advice because I’m only seeing snippets of screenshots that she’s sent me of what he’s said. He did seem quite keen I must admit but again I only saw a screenshot and not a whole conversation. But maybe it’s just me, and times have changed but when I met my partner. If you slept with someone and they didn’t like you. They would usually just blank you. I don’t think anyone would really shower someone with compliments, tell them they want to see them again unless they did. That would be very cruel.

I think as she’s been married before. Engaged also and it’s not worked out. I think from before I met her she didn’t have the best dating history but she doesn’t talk about that all that often to me. So She’s more reserved. So I think she will see “red flags” so to speak when there aren’t any! I think that’s where her “coldness” can come in. The amount of times I’ve heard her say things like “Yeah I don’t like him that much anyway (about other people)” but she talks a lot about them. I think she struggles to open up and be vunerable. And I have told her this will likely be her down fall.

But I shall keep you updated

Could something have been running you didn't know about? Our boiler is both gas an electric run, there's a switch to turn on the electric for it an my god does it run up fast, we didn't realise when the guy done a boiler check he left the switch on till we looked at our box an seen the numbers turn like crazy
Potentially something like that. It was 2020 so can’t even remember. I feel like I remember I was arguing with british gas that something was wrong at the time but can’t actually remember what about.

it was a brand new boiler when we moved in, and we had a shower but it was like a mixer tap so I think that is gas? I must have gave a meter read when I moved out but what good is that if the meters faulty?

Question. My eldest when he lived here thought very charmingly how nice it'd be to bring bedbugs here. No matter what I try the evil little critters won't go (the bedbugs, not my son!!) Does anybody know any ways of getting rid of them barring complete fumigation of house which I really cannot afford.

Have I been rude?
My daughter 23 is currently downstairs with her boyfriend of a few months watching TV. I went down to get a drink from the kitchen.. She shouted through to me coukd I come to help with the TV.. I said I couldn't.. (I had no bra on lol.. Was only running into kitchen) the house literally stunk of a v strong garlic smell.. I knew they had had food delivered earlier.. So I called through to her asking what the smell was.. Saying its really strong garlic.. They both answered that they didn't have garlic... So I asked what they had ordered as it wS really strong smell.. She said chicken strips!
So I went back up to my room and mi utes later I get a barrage of texts from her saying iam rude and embarrassed myself and her.. That I shouldn't act that way in front of a guest.. That usually she would bite my head off but she wanted to play it down to her boyfriend.. Etc etc.
So now iam sitting upstairs wondering if I was rude? I didn't say it in a mean way or anything.. I was just asking.
She said what if he tells people what it's like here? What does that even mean?
All because I asked about the garlic smell?
I felt like I can't trust my own judgement anymore?
Did she say exactly what you did or is it the “if you don’t know I won’t tell you?”

I get incredibly itchy eyes and sneezing. I think grass is my trigger. I have a horse so have to be around hay and last week ended up with a rash on my arms from stuffing hay nets with a t shirt on for the first time since last year.
it’s probably worth getting then but idk anyone who’s had it to know if it actually works. Looks like it’s about £70 (north east)

You can list as many or as little as you like. I run a supply shop on there.

The fees are quite high but I make a reasonable income from it with no effort on mypart.
I didn't realise there was quite high fees, I might rethink as I wouldn't be taken much for things, just a few pound, but I'd still need to make a profit
