Anyone fly into London a lot? What airport would you recommend for ease with getting into roughly or round about the Russell Square area, the hotel will probably be booked somewhere that's close or close(ish) to Euston train station so I can get out to Watford easy enough, last time I went I took the train to King's Cross an honestly my trust in trains an their service has went downhill so I want to try flights now

Can you take a load of coins in to the bank branch and have them put in to your account still? We have about £50 in small coins, including old £1 coins not bagged or sorted. Should I be sorting them before I take them in or do they use a machine now? 😂 haven’t been in branch for years. Also would a high street HSBC branch still take back the old £1s?

We had a big leak downstairs and kitchen end panels and plinths were damaged along with flooring, skirting boards, oak doors etc. It's a huge space and Insurers have offered us a cash settlement which is too low to even cover the flooring costs. But our kitchen supplier have discontinued our kitchen so no longer have any of the things we need to repair. Because they have to replace a like for like and our kitchen is no longer available will they have to replace the kitchen or just say tough shit, accept the money or get fucked? I don't know how any of it works as have never claimed for anything. We've tried calling them but they don't work Saturdays. Which I would have thought would have been their busiest day!
I would go back to them and ask for a breakdown of how they have calculated the cash settlement amount, I say this assuming you’ve had an assessor out to asses the damage? I would also make them aware that the kitchen longer available and see what they say. Being honest they are not going to replace the entire kitchen for this reason alone but they should be challenged esp when there is damage to other doors etc. they should be able to give you a breakdown for how they have calculated the settlement, they do sometimes make a “reasonable” deduction for wear and tear. The only way they could significantly reduce your cash settlement amount is if you had grossly under insured your property

hi hope this is allowed here. basically i live in a 3 story house and currently my bedroom is in the converted loft area but for various reasons i want to moove into a regular smaller room on the 2nd floor, and this would involve alot of moving heavy furniture arround so was wondering if anyone knows if it's possible to hire someone to do the heavy lifting and moving things arround. i know obviously removal companies move furniture but usually from one house to another not just between rooms. a double bed and a king sized bed would both have to be dismantled and moved, pluss a book shelf, draws and other things. so what sort of company would i contact for this sort of thing. i couldn't really find anything online
Could your family and friends help you to move your possessions? It might be cheaper than hiring a firm, to move your stuff into another room.

She gave up her job with MH problems, then it went downhill, I think he’s had a drug problem yes
If she has her own MH problems then perhaps addressing that as a root cause would be the best bet. She obviously can’t see how destructive his presence is despite the evidence. I think you’d be unlikely to convince her until she can really understand why she’s accepting him and realise for herself she has other choices and more value than allowing someone else to steer her path so badly.
Would she agree to seeing someone if you help with the cost?

I want to start volunteering. I have the spare time and I would like to find something that lets me give back. I have a couple ideas of my own but I would really appreciate recommendations.

Anyone got destructive pets? What do you find the best toys are for them

This will seem stupid but I have a very destructive rabbit, he free roams during the day so around 8/9am to about 10/11pm an is supervised so I can keep a eye on him an he's ok

However I recently got rid of his cage which I used for nights when am sleeping an when am out, an changed it to panels to make a sort of pen so he could free roam the bedroom without supervision an not get into things

He now however seems hell bent on destroying absolutely everything, his bed that I've had since I got him got all the stuffing ripped out it an today the litter tray got thrown about, he has his box stuffed daily with hay an some chew things like those wooden balls, but am wondering if there's anything else I can get him that he will focus his chewing on that will last as his toys don't last long
I reckon he needs a companion.

If you want to keep the friendship then I wouldn't mention any feelings, the last thing you want is to lose the friend over this, unfortunately you made it clear in the beginning that it was only friendship you wanted, so it's either let him go fully an put it behind you in order not to hurt more or drop the feelings an keep him as a friend, because personally if I was dating a guy an seen another girl had developed feelings for him an was messaging him with that intention I'd have him block her

The last thing you want is to put the girlfriend in that position where she will have him block you if they are happy together, an then you lose him an the friendship

I totally agree. I said this to her. She comes across to me, as if she’s not that bothered by him. However, and I have said this to her. My view of it, is I think she’s more keen than she’s letting on.

She hasn’t said specifically what it is she feels off. Just said she feels he’s “off” with her. I would imagine maybe he’s calmed a bit? Not replying as quick as he used too or whatever it may be. But I can’t tell how when his words seem quite keen. Telling her he would see her again. He finds her beautiful etc.

I do worry that she’s saying she feels he’s “off with her” as a defence mechanism. So should he decide to end things, she can say “Well I knew that would happen, I’ve slept with him and now he’s going funny on me”.

She is naturally a very pessimistic person. Every interview she goes for “I’ll never get that job anyway”. Every man she goes on a date with “he’ll never fancy me anyway”. Etc.

I think more than anything it’s a defence of hers. Where she’s so scared to be hurt, she acts like she doesn’t care. But maybe it’s just me, I think her acting like she doesn’t care will have an adverse reaction and will make people think she doesn’t care. And so they won’t bother.

Is there anyone here who breast fed that can help me. No one in my family breast fed and i have saw 3 separate GP’s and still no help.

I stopped BF nearly a year ago now and there is clearly white milk stuck on the end of my nipple. It looks exactly like a milk blister on google images. It is so unbearably itchy it keeps me up at night. 3 GP’s and a consultant at the breast clinic shrugged it off and said it’s fine can’t do anything about it. Is that honestly true and do I just have to learn to live with it?

Hello everyone!

I wanted to make a thread about home security but I think I'm too new a member to do that so I've found this thread, I hope you all don't mind!

I'm a single mum, live with my three little ones in a nice area with lovely neighbours. However, this week a couple of nasty break ins have happened in the local area (one included them bringing a knife!) and it's really got me thinking about how safe I am.

My windows are composite triple glazed, my front door is composite, non snap locks & no glazing with a ring door bell and I'm fully insured.

However the problem is my back door is a very old wooden frame (that's falling to bits), wooden door, old mortice lock, with a large single glazed window and it's giving me the heebies.

Between that door and upstairs there are two more downstairs internal doors.

I'm just starting to worry all the time about what could happen..especially coming up to Xmas and darker nights. Has anyone got any ideas on how I can make myself feel a bit safer (on a budget!), I can't change the door (cost).

Welcome any ideas x x

Has anyone here taken out the floor part of a fire hearth, the bit that sticks out? Was it easy or hard?
I have this hearth that comes out into my room and takes up space and would like to put my table and chairs there.
The fireplace isn't used and never will be. its two bricks high with ties ontop
If I wanted to do this, I'd go at it with a mallet and a bolster or brick chisel, but I'm pretty competent and confident with this sort of thing, including the making it-nice-after-the-hammering part.
Thing is, you'll have a gap in your flooring where it was and potentially a pretty untidy finish to the floor and in particular where the hearth meets the fire surround/ wall. You may find it comes up off the sub floor OK with a chisel but you will probably need to fill some gouges in the floor before laying some flooring and make the surround/wall whatever nice in whatever way works. Is the surround more brick, or something else?
