Has anyone ever had to take something back while they are still signed into things an it's been ok?

My tablet is 4 month old an won't switch on so it's going back, but obviously am still signed into things on it, email, my Google account etc, I've changed my passwords but am still a bit paranoid, am assuming it will just go back to the factory an they will instantly factory reset it but I still don't like that I can't get it on to sign out of everything

How long has it been without power? Sessions expire after a while, so there's a good chance that by now all the sessions are old enough to force a long-in anyway. This plus you changing all your passwords should pretty much have taken care of it.

By any chance - do you have a different cable and power adaptor to try it with? I used to have a tablet that absolutely hated one specific combination and you couldn't charge it with it when empty...

I have yet to receive an Ali express shipment since my address got cut off by accident while using the autofill feature on my phone, but the best prices I’m finding are on their site — better than Walmart and better than Amazon.* I’m impatient to see if the products are legitimate.

*Before anyone comes for me, I have no qualms paying $3 to aliexpress for miscellaneous things that I need when sellers over here are not adding any value to the experience and simply marking the same items up

Can a job sack you on the spot for any reason or do they have to give notice?

I ask because I've just seen my job advertised on an ad. It says rolling deadline so I could be that they just haven't taken it down. As far as I am concerned, they like me at my job and recently offered me a permenant position but I have had some issues outside of work (illness etc.) that have impacted my time there (nothing that can be helped and they have been really lovely about it) but now I'm worried they're just keeping me (my job is niche) until they can find someone better

It will depend on the terms you are employed, you say you’re not permanent so what is The arrangement currently? I suspect it’s not a case if being sacked but if they were looking for someone permanently you current contract may not be renewed.

So I've seen a job advertised and you can ring for an informal chat, which I will need to do as not everything I need to know is listed in the advert.

The problem is, I know the person who I would be phoning through the job I do now.
So do I ring and tell them who I am to increase my chances, but risk word getting out, or ring anonymously and hope they don't ask for a name....?

Hi all, I couldn’t figure out how to start a new thread so thought it best to post in here!

A bit of a tricky one but my other half and I live in a flat which is quite old and has terrible sound proofing. Our neighbours seem like nice people who keep themselves to themselves. We just have one awkward issue. They have a baby, who based on when I first saw the baby as a newborn must now be about 18 months old. Our bedroom is on the other side of their bedroom. We’d rarely hear the baby crying through the walls even as a newborn but for the past 3 months or so, we’ve been woken up on a regular basis around 2 or 3AM by the baby squealing and crying. It’s so loud that we feel like the baby is in the same room as us. Even with earplugs in we sometimes wake up. We can hear the parents talking quite loudly too. We live in 2 bedroom flats so I am not sure if the baby sleeps in their other room and then when she wakes, they bring her into their bedroom. We don’t have children ourselves but I do sympathise if they are suffering with broken sleep. Is it awkward if I raise the issue with the neighbours however? I’m not sure if they realise how loud their baby is - it doesn’t even sound like crying, more squealing. I just don’t want to come across as unsympathetic and cause them stress but it’s really really annoying me now!

Unfortunately there's not much you can do if it's a baby, since parents can't exactly tell them to stop, my neice was the same at that age an my brother would be out driving her about an when she stayed with me then we would do the same thing, just because at the end of the day it wasn't the neighbours that decided he should have a kid, it was him an these things happen, so he did try an make sure he wasn't letting her disturb the neighbours at night, but I do get where you are coming from, I'd imagine it would make it awkward if the issue was raised

If the kid was older then I'd definitely be taking with them, but at this age it's hard, I guess if you did see them then you could maybe sort of raise the issue of is the baby teething, maybe try an start a conversation about how big they have gotten an they must be getting teeth in or something (am not great at typing what I mean lol) maybe that might be the reason why they are crying at night, but am only guessing as this was the reason my neice done it, it wasn't till I asked for advice on what to use that someone told me a brand to get an omg the difference it made was amazing, she slept right through the night, we had been using other things that clearly weren't working till I got told about this other brand I had never heard of an it made such a difference, but obviously that's only if this is the reason the baby's crying, it could just be a kid that wants to wail

Thanks, everything I make is home made an just thrown in the oven so am used to food not cooking right if it's not properly spaced in the oven, but the folks want to cut down oven use an I have no idea what am doing with this thing took me 10 minutes just to work out how to even get it on an cooking

I think I might need to quit my job but I'm really really scared. My current boss is a bully, if he has you in his sights he is awful. But if you're not in his sights this is the best job I've ever had.

So I'm torn but I've had physical issues from all the stress plus depression, and it's really hard for me to decide what the right choice is atm.

My old job before I had my son was exactly like that but he used to give me huge anxiety. In my experience i felt much better once I left but I did just one day wake up and decided not to go backIf it is effecting your mental health I don’t think it would do any harm to look else where.

is it an easy field of work to get into? X

A few days ago, I received an offer for an internal role in a different department. My manager is not aware and HR told me not to tell him until I get certain forms. I was due to get them by today COB to “resign” tomorrow but I did not receive them.

On the same day I got my offer, literally two hours later, my manager asked me to be part of an interview panel for a set of interviews to replace someone else in the team. I accepted thinking I’d have resigned by the time the interviews came around.

Fast forward, I have not received my documentation and thus cannot resign yet. I’m worried the HR contact in charge of the replacement role will tell the HR contact handling my move (tell them I’m interviewing people) and that I’m in a sort of conflict of interest. I’m worried this may be the reason why I haven’t received my documentation.

I absolutely hate my current team and hate they put me in this position when they’ve refuse to give me any leadership title and took my promotion away from me to give it to a male yet want me on an interview panel for gender diversity purposes.

The new role would be an upwards move and I’m worried they’re going to mess this up for me by getting me involved in a process I shouldn’t be involved if I’m moving.

The interview was scheduled yesterday for tomorrow and I thought I’d be able to resign today but it didn’t happen since the docs are still pending. I don’t know what to do

FYI I would put in a complaint with the police for giving out your telephone number.
They are absolutely not allowed to do that. That is a breach of GDPR and they should know better. What if this person was a stalker?!?!

This is exactly what my friend said actually!! I didn’t think much of it but it definitely is strange. She actually rang the number that the police rang me off afterwards to make sure it was them because she thought it was all so strange!! Turns out it actually was Legit a police officer but defo so so weird and should have more sense.
I just find it so odd that there is literally no damage done to my car, not as much as a scrape, the bollard was rubber. How has my paintwork ended up on their car when there is absolutely no sign of anything done to my car

If I go to their website the message reads ‘the version of safari you are using is no longer supported. Update your device or use another browser’ - the other browsers aren’t supported either. It’s the same with increasing numbers of websites. Unfortunately web developers don’t think of people using older devices or for that matter readers. I have difficulties here too with unknown errors but so far I can still access it. Possibly I didn’t explain myself properly. Sorry.

Many rural practices have one or two GPs, under special management by health board in wales; I know there’s special arrangements when they aren’t in with the nearest drop in centre GPs (in England, three hours away). There are floating clinics for things like diabetes/women’s health every few months from elsewhere. Many cannot travel to other surgeries.

The local benefits office is in Llanelli. Two counties away and at least six hour journey which I cannot do; the furthest I’ve been since injury in lockdown is half a mile; can no longer manage transport. The local offices all closed years ago. The only jobcentre in my county is still closed as well to visitors. The telephone number is for Llanelli there is no access to the local one, even by letter.

Can I ask, what exactly is causing you to not be able to travel at all? How do you get shopping/attend appointments etc?

You can write a letter to the job centre in Llanelli.

Has anyone been in a housing estate that's come with a garden maintenance thing? When we moved into our house almost 13 years ago we knew it was something we had to pay yearly for which at the time was fine because the gardens around the area were being done as was the park, however as the years went on work slowed, company's changed an now work is not being done

We have a community page an the vast majority don't want to pay anymore, they built new house an put everyone's bills up plus included billing the new houses, they said it was because there was more land to cover, but the new land they need to cover is tiny since the new house company didn't put in any gardens, now we have a bill for plant replacement at £200 but none of us know where these plants are, no one's been seen since last spring working, they also take 3k a month (split between all houses) for inspecting the playparks that again no one has ever seen them at, an it's not a quiet area, there's always people going about an more than enough houses looking onto all these areas

Is there a way to get out of this? I had thought this was only a 10 year contract

I’ve checked in for a flight and my 3 year old has been allocated a different seat to me (not next to me!). Anybody else ever had this and were moved together? Did an online chat but they simply said speak to staff at the airport.
