(DM is you don't want to post it publicly) I love following photographers who use instagram as what it was originally made for...a photo sharing app, not an advertising platform. These Influencers just ruined it!This makes me very angry. I'm an amateur photographer with a modest (just under 2000) following on my IG account. I've been approached by Discover Ireland in the past where they've asked to use some of my images on their platforms. This happens alot regarding many companies involved in tourism and the trade off is usually a free image for them and free exposure for you. In the past I have signed images over for full use wherever they please, for free. Anyway, I would only love a similar opportunity as has been gifted to Terrie, and it would certainly sweeten the deal in terms of 'payment' for use of any images produced from the trip. Might I add that I am also an essential worker in healthcare and have been run ragged the last few months....I sound so very bitter, but this has really upset me

Seeing this makes me so angry. Whoever runs the socials for these companies really does need a good shake. This is the type of person who should have a trip gifted to them and then the campaign should be ran on Discover Ireland’s socials. I would bet it may not get the same reach as Terrie would get but would generate the same amount of business...it’s just bloody disgraceful.This makes me very angry. Sorry so you’re saying that as a medical professional I do not have a right to go on a staycation? Especially when the rest of the country are travelling up and down, which there is absolutely no rule against. Aswell as the people travelling abroad. I think after the last few months I’ve been through personally I would be well within my rights, as is the rest of Ireland, to go up and down the country on a holiday with my partner and follow all guidelines and I would be breaking absolutely no ‘form of medical ethics’ in doing so. Give it a rest. Us healthcare professionals are probably the most safe and cautious in these situations. Do not paint us all with the same brush. Perhaps worry about those swanning off to Ibiza and focus on the ‘ethics’ that they are breaking. Feel seriously disappointed and hurt at that statement, especially after all I have done for this country since march, having worked on a covid ward since. I do have a life outside of my job as should every other hcp.
Thanks. To be fair, this is not my livlihood, and it happens all the time to many many photographers as the internet is awash with free images these days. If you say no, which you can absolutely do, they will just approach someone else. It's hard to generate exposure for yourself so sometimes it's easier just to say yes and hope you get a few extra followers as a result. I just think it very disheartening that these places don't put a bit more thought into their campaigns

I don't think anyone begrudges anyone a holiday HCW or not. The problem is terrie and so many other influencers are off on staycation every other day. The reality is that most people will only go on one maybe 2 staycation over the summer period. This is terries 3rd since Friday. It is taking the piss tbh. We still need to reduce our contacts ffs. What she is doing is not relatable to the average follower. I hope you do get a break away btw you deserve it x

I take your point but I think Terri is in a different league travelling all over the country on freebies…of course you and every amazing hcp should have a life outside your job but this is a discussion about a very greedy…self entitled…dishonest and quite frankly completely disingenuous woman and the shady behaviour she has been caught out on.
Agree. It's not that she is taking a holiday, it's that she is away pretty much every day and she was breaking guidelines like when she was sat in the Grayson for 5+ hours at the bar with zero social distancing and sitting at the bar which isn't allowed asking a barman to take photos! And that was just the one we saw.
My sister in law is a doctor and went away and sees friends but she isn't taking the piss by going away everyday or meeting loads of people. And have a friend who is a nurse who supposed to be getting married next week and now possibly has to change plans again for the second time because some people are taking the piss and now we have to limit the amount of people we see again.

I can't understand the obsession with birthdays that influencers have?
It's so childish. Birthday weeks and months seem to be a common thing now with them..?
Fair enough, celebrate milestones like 18ths, 21st and maybe 30ths, but holy mit, every birthday has to be an occasion and a big deal. I see it creeping in with younger girls now who seem to want to celebrate a birthday for an entire week, it's trickling down to younger girls who watch these fools celebrating a 28th/29th for the guts of a month.

Each of them trying to outdoo each other in terms of beauty, the highest peak they can find, the bluest lake to pose at. It must be soooo tiring. Now we have Terri heading off at the back end of the pack. Surely there is nowhere left in Ireland to pose in front of. We know Ireland is beautiful. We don't need another Influencer on a freebie taking another photo!
I also chuckled when I saw the pic of the brekkie this morning. A typical Irish hotel brekkie it was with no airs or graces. Just what I like. The ole standard cups (that fit about 3 sups of tea), the tiny juices and the ole simple weetabix. Ahhh Ireland! I first noticed that when Niamh Cullen went to West Cork. Some very strategic angles around the hotel. What she didn't mention about the hotel in Gougane is that it is miles away from anything and that lake is not used for boating or swimming. It is a monastic site really!!

I'm just having a rant really, as I said, it's a hobbie, not my livlihood, and happens to plenty of others. I think the availability of images so freely on social media is as much to blame. I'm no more dererving than anyone else, but it would be nice if they considered other people for potential campaigns rather than always selecting influencers
I agree! I live in Ireland and the more I see of these posts, the less I want to holiday here haha. They've made me a bit bored of it. Its how social made me feel about Greece/Santorini - I feel like its overly instagrammed too.

Plus I know a good few people that couldn't afford RIP OFF Ireland with the prices gone up!!! Think I'm going to post that under the next staycation pic / we're paying for these freebies that they are getting - sick to death of it at this stage
That's how I felt about Cabu when they all started getting their gifted trips after I booked it. It just made me not want to go. Then I noticed they overcharged us €200 on our booking...must be trying to make up the money they lost on all those gifted stays!
I think that too. They have upped the prices for normal folk so that insta huns can have a free weekend stay.. Plus meals and everything else...
