This is so dangerous. Imagine being anorexic and seeing this and thinking “oh I must still be eating too much, not tracking enough, let me cut my calories even further so I can lose more” Christ.
Aaagghh this kind of mis-nformation all round drives me insane (am a PT) if someone could explain to those people what actually happens then maybe they would be able to understand what is going on. But noooo gotta keep them slaving away and confused and dependant on paying you money to be shamed. It's an embarrassment to the industry 😩

I mean he's *partially* right about the starvation mode thing and so many people use that term because that's what terms mainstream media, magazines and diet clubs use. If he could actually explain to them why it's incorrect and why the scale doesn't always move by 2lbs every week even if you are doing 20875477 steps a day, then people wouldn't be so damn confused and be able to accept non scale victories. But no he just calls them lazy people. 😩
It's infuriating to read & I just feel so bad for those women thinking it's them doing something wrong and also thinking every trainer is like that.

I expect he’s got an hour long video “breaking it down for the stupid people” or something that you’ll then have to invest your time into watching, until your brain leaks out of your ear...

Probably!

I mean there's explaining so people understand what's happening and then there's just totally OTT for own ego right.... 😬😩

I’ve worked out their modus operandi:

1. Think of an angry controversial statement that’s vaguely true or unprovable, due to inconsistent data collection
2. Attack a few people that argue against it on the post.
3. Allow the flying monkeys to attack people in the comments.
4. Sit back feeling superior over the fall out.

It’s so disappointing isn’t it? I’m so sad that I became a part of this. I’d been doing amazingly well at intuitively eating and caring for myself before lockdown. I just hope I’ve not done permanent damage to my body.

I'm pretty sure you wouldn't have done any permanent damage from a short period of being a bit more restrictive and counting steps, but obviously I don't know anyone here. Here's my mini story if it makes you feel better tho -
A few years ago there was some big trends in the fitness industry over certain ways of eating. There were courses, workshops, seminars, videos berating you for being a failure and a crap PT if you and your clients didn't follow these ways of doing things. This was all from leaders within the industry and people you'd look up to. Hindsight is wonderful isn't it.

I ended up with some pretty serious issues around food for a while 😬 so I totally get how easy it is to be sucked in to something not too great while believing it's the right thing to do. It's a strange situation isn't it.
It took me being pregnant and thinking wow I don't have to do any of that anymore to chill out a bit and start eating properly. I still can't quite believe I ended up with an eating disorder that stemmed from feeling totally inadequate amongst other PT's.
Funny thing is there was absolutely nothing wrong with what I was doing before all that, only other people's opinions made me believe I wasn't good enough. So if trainers can get drawn into this no wonder everyone else does
🤷‍♀️

Much the same as me. I banned loads of foods groups, was trying paleo, was heavily into running and weights and things. Lost my period, didn’t care! I’ve been doing this now for about 6 months and have pretty much ended up the same. I was absolutely fine too. I look back at photos in July and think, why the hell did I sign up for this!? I looked terrible back in October I was walking 20k steps a day and tracking everything that I ate to the last gram. I have eaten a pizza and some ice cream tonight. It feels good.

And yes, being pregnant stopped me too, I was too sick to be picky over foods, then I was breastfeeding and hungry all the time so didn’t care. I lost weight naturally and healthily and was about 9 stone, I wish I still was and none of this had happened.

Does anyone know what will happen if I just contact the DD? Will Ashbourne just ask me for the outstanding balance or will there be extra fees?

If you just cancel it they'll likely try and bill you for fees. Email them and tell them to piss off if they do that and don't give them a penny. You could just pay it off so you don't have to have anything to do with them ever again. I had to explain to them about 7 times (no exaggeration!) That's what I wanted to do. They were so thick they didn't understand and just kept adding fees.

Yeah I’ve emailed team rh to say that I want to end the contract and they have so far ignored me. So I will ask again.

I meant explain to Ashbourne that you need them to invoice you the outstanding balance. They literally didn't understand what I meant 😳🤣🤦🏼‍♀️

Is there anyway that you can prove they have broken the contract? (Not sure what the contract is)

God, this is the thing. I don’t want to go down the debt collector route as they’re idiots. I’m not poor, I just want to be done with the whole place.

I’ve said I’m happy to do that to team rh but they are ignoring me. Should I contact ashbourne directly?

I would. They handle the payments part so I don’t expect anyone in team rh could sort it out even if they wanted to

Yes, they have employed Ashbourne (glorified debt collectors) to make sure people pay up. I've mentioned on here before that in the past Ashbourne were taken to court and prosecuted for enforcing dodgy gym contracts. Just be firm with them and don't let them bull you, or apply any charges.
