The ironic thing is he did a post once about how he was in the gym and he overheard the people that worked in there taking the piss out of an overweight guy who was working out so Ritchie had told them off about it and gave the guy free membership....is it only ok to be horrible to people if you're Ritchie?

The free page and the group are so toxic - here's a few screenshots from a very delicate discussion about mental health in regards to weighing...

There were also multiple people mocking red, saying things such as that she doesn't want to weigh food because she's too lazy to stand up and go to the scales. Does Richie, patron saint of supporting women being trolled online step in? Does he hell as like!

I quite liked them in a way when they first started as they brought something a bit different and his manner was a bit shocking but it intrigued me and I thought he made good points. He just got progressively cruder and nastier, and has become a hypocrite as he’s worse than any diet club. I’ve seen/heard stories from people who left his group (staff and members) and he most definitely sounds like a horror in real life!
I was exactly the same, I've even defended them in the past. But the more you dig into it and the longer you follow their clique you realise how toxic they are. The final straw was deffo the heavy handed debt collecting. They fail to mention that when they are persuading you how much they care for you and how they will save you from evil slimming clubs. Plus I don't like how they are relying on a free app like MFP to count the cals but charge you £6.99 a month for info that's pretty much given out freely on their fb page and can be worked out with a BMR calculator. Not many overweight people need to concentrate on macros at first. It's not for me anymore.

He can’t see beyond his own lifestyle and preferences. He loves the gym life and focusing on muscle and that’s great. For him. But he forgets that that isn’t right for everyone. He’s damaging and toxic.
I said to him directly that I wasn’t comfortable with bulking up (I’ve never been larger than a size 12) and he was all “ah that’s fine your mental health comes first, and your goals” but there is literally no support for anyone that just wants a normal balanced lifestyle. It’s either diet, or bulk which is what they both do. He’s all “I’ve dieted 26 times in my life” or something like that. In all for losing a few pounds if you’ve gained a bit, but yo-yo dieting, it’s no different to the other swimming clubs.

I think Rachael probably has fatigue as she is forced to constantly be on a diet to maintain the image as I’ve never seen her bulked up like he expects others to be. Always tiny. A lot of the women have lost their periods and have all been brainwashed to think it’s normal.

I’ve said this before and I honestly think those ‘affiliates’ are totally brainwashed! Doing live workouts online when they aren’t trained in anything, stepping manically in the kitchen at 10pm on a Friday night! Eating piles of chicken daily to get the protein in, and not because they like chicken. It’s insane and totally disordered.

I’ve been tempted to join in the past but been put off by how unsympathetic they seem towards you not hitting the step count or how hard some people find it to follow a diet sometimes.

I have sat there in a SW group with my eyes rolling so far back in my head while someone has sat there in tears trying to justify putting on 3lb in a week and eating 2 grab bags of Revels on a 5 minute car journey from the corner shop to her house (defo wasn’t just the revels that did the 3lb 😂) and really just wanted to just shout oh FFS get a grip! But just always thought Richie comes across as lacking understanding of what it is really like to struggle with a weight problem, and with the best will in the world when I’m working I am in the car 4+ hours a day on average, eating healthily on the road is a proper struggle and like someone else has said I can hardly step on the spot in a meeting, I’m in sales and don’t think they’d have me back 😂

Had no idea about any of the money stuff though. My gym at the start of lockdown just said they were pausing everyone’s membership and not to cancel it etc. Haven’t been charged a penny.

I joined after seeing him have a go at someone for fat shaming in a gym.
Then on one of his lives he was fat shaming calling people weapons and big fanny flaps etc.
He's just as bad as the guy in the gym

Finding this thread really interesting.

I’m a current member of Team RH but currently paying £6.99 a month for absolutely nothing as I realised very early on that it wasn’t for me. I was initially drawn to the common sense approach and I know a number of people who have lost work through the programme but the tracking and daily weigh ins felt OTT and were reminiscent of things I did a few years ago when I didn’t have a very healthy relationship with food/weight. I keep meaning to cancel my monthly payment but I can’t remember when I signed up and if I’m tied into a contract.

I don’t know where exactly they’re from but I think R & R are fairly local to me. I actually saw Rachael in a supermarket once and she is teeny tiny in real life. I couldn’t resist having a peek into her basket and as you’d probably expect, it contained loads of fat free yoghurt, chicken and other forms of protein. Utterly joyless! I was dying to sneak her a pie and some doughnuts! 🤪
I see unhappy people who diet to silly lengths like Richie and Rachael, then telling everyone else to diet to unhappy lengths (may not be exact words but feel that is their approach). They go absolutely nowhere and have no social life (through their own choosing) and yet try to say they are down to earth/relatable.

Oh I've found my people! He's an absolute bellend. A few people I know follow him and one girl signed up this year, bought a hoody and fell off the wagon 3 weeks later. The thing that annoys me is that he tears apart every other diet despite some of them actually working for bigger people. Like Slimming World, it mightn't work if you only have a few lb to lose, but for big people it really gets them cooking from scratch, and what can be so bad about that?

Just been to pick up my shopping and saw a girl with the Team RH hoody on, little sheep.

Yes exactly. Calorie deficit is probably the most sensible way to lose weight but they didn’t invent it so I have no idea where his God complex has come from. The way he talks down to people is disgusting and the debt collection stuff is just the lowest of the low. He’s also now basically encouraging people to develop an eating disorder to lose weight, as counting calories in medicine and lip balm is 100% eating disorder behaviour.
I saw the post earlier this week about counting calories in lip balm etc and it set off major alarm bells. I had an ED when I was in my teens (before social media had taken off, thank god) but I used to go on loads of ProAna/Thinspo websites and they always said about calories in lip balm. He needs to be careful, although I doubt they’d ever get held accountable for anyone developing an ED.

Rachel disappeared a while back for a couple of weeks didn’t she.... I wonder what that was about.

I got sucked in & joined in the summer, as did my other half.We were both miserable trying to hit our protein targets and just couldn’t keep it up. Seems we have to pay for the year anyway even though we aren’t following the plan anymore

Im 'back on plan' today and in a real conundrum. My scales broke hence the eerk break and i thoroughly enjoyed not weighing everything! But i know that i do need to lose weight, ive already paid for the plan and it does make sense.

But i dont like the name calling, the complete lack of empathy for those who struggle to weigh food. I do struggle because i work in a busy job and weighing my bagel individually and everything bloody else tskes twice the time to make it!
I enjoy going for walks but hitting the steps is a problem - im on 2000 right now, and workinh through until 5pm when im off to the shop for popcorn for film night with friend. Ill probably get to 10000 but struggle getting anywhere further.
Also its not k owing what to do - last time i think it was too many plates spinning with macros etc. For now im just thinking about hitting my calories and steps but its.difficully. if i smash my steps im not as focused on work and vise versa. And work has to come first!!

I asked on the group and wss advised to gp for walks when on work calls - i work with offenders, need to look at manuals and make notes while talking and besides its not very professional to have background noise of cars etc! Was advised to out wahsing away 1 item at a time - fine for weekends, but during the week my tasks need to be time effective not step effective

I also mentioned that i prioritise sleep to get 8hrs - ao if i go for a walk and get home at 630, after finishing work, ill be on around 9000 steps. Then itll be until 730 to make and eat tea. Then i am going to colour and watch tv or do an NA meeting as i need to gor my mental health, which takes mr to around 9pm. Then ill have a shower, cuppa tea and read in bed until 1030 when its bedtime. So not a lot of free time there to do steps in!! No one had any tips of course to help.
I think TRH try to overwhelm people so that they'll feel helpless going it alone but as long as you eat below your TDEE you'll lose weight, even if you did zero exercise and sat down all day. Exercise is great for mental health and for overall physical health such as building stronger muscles and keeping your joints active but it isn't necessary to walk 15,000 steps a day. Looking after your mental health is as important, if not more important, than looking after your physical health, otherwise you'll crash and burn.

Similarly, you don't need to worry too much about macros while losing weight. Getting some protein in with most/every meal, and making sure you have some healthy sources of fat and some vegetables/fruit and you'll be eating pretty good, there's always time to refine it when you get closer to goal.

Are slimming world aware of them? Pretty stars they could sue RH for the way they talk about them!
Slimming World won't sue anyone for calling Syns "a load of rubbish" because they can't justify it in a court of law. One or two people have been insulting SWfor years,,..they've never gone after them because they know they can't.

From a company that is very litigious this speaks volumes 😁.

They go after people who use their name in other ways such as selling "SW recipe sausages" in butchers . This is because they do their own range though.

So RH can continue rubbishing them and SW won't do a thing. In fact my hatred of SW is right up there with TeamTH. ...can you tell 😂

I always found the TeamRH people I came across selling the plan rude and pushy and tarred those who followed other plans as idiots. They banged on about weight loss club fees as a waste yet reading the above I’d say they are worse! At least over who clubs are run on a pay as you go basis. It’s never appealed to me.

I find them incredibly negative. Their whole business model is based on calories, put downs & digs. Excuses this, excuses that, everyone's lazy blah blah. Yes sometimes there will be excuses and sometimes there will be reasons that are beyond anyone's control. I can't relate to anyone so narrow minded.
