I'd be very surprised if she actually did her Maths and Sciences A levels. I think that Jess loves the idea of studying and being an academic person, but I don't think that she has what it takes to be one, at least not in maths and sciences. She really did not seem driven and passionate for her Masters, and she was studying literature, her biggest passion.

I also think that this could have something to do with Indie. Maybe seeing her sister studying maths and sciences is making her think that this is what she should have done all along, or that she could do it too. Otherwise it seems like such a random idea, at 26.

I honestly still really love her, her vlogs have always been "cozy" to me, but I agree it is sad to see her so low and sensing that she doesn't want to share anything with the audience. I'm sure that if she could she would only film book related videos, but most of her sponsors must want her to mention them in videos too, like Bare Minerals.

Leena Norms is really great too
Love her!

I used to enjoy Jess's book reviews back in uni as well; maybe she was doing the extensive reading for course work but I still enjoyed hearing what she had to say. I never thought she'd become like this. Her vlogs in 2nd and 3rd year were very enjoyable and she had a good balance between uni and social life. I obviously don't know what she and Zach like in rela life but watching them is like watching paint dry. It looks like they bring each other's energy down.

On the one hand she seems really happy which is great. On the other I feel a bit disappointed for her. She had so much potential post uni & IMO she has done nothing with it & is even less likely to do so now.
If she really wanted to she could easily manage a career because she has the money for good childcare. I don’t see it happening though, not unless something changes. I don’t believe that everyone has to have a career, but in Jess’ case I think something additional to YouTube & baby would be good for her.

I genuinely don't think she's done any completely non-sponsored (not including #gifted items or anything) in years, besides maybe some of her book videos. Almost all the vlogs that she acts like she spontaneously wanted to take us "loves" along on for a day in her life have at least a sponsored section where she was clearly contractually obligated to talk about some "lifestyle" product like that language learning app she inserted into a couple vlogs a few months ago. All her instagram posts have at least one gifted clothing or accessory item that she's probably supposed to be posting about, not just mentioning that she received it for free years ago. On one hand she's at least a bit more discerning in her sponsorships, she's not hawking toothpaste or anything that doesn't fit with her "upscale bougie lifestyle" image, but on the other hand she's clearly only interested in this when she has to do it.

I think it's fine to talk about it here, after all this is all very intriguing. And her following is quite small so I doubt her fans would go on her Instagram or YouTube and comment about it.

Thing with Jess is, if she was actually consistent, stuck to a YouTube schedule, did one fashion video and one book video and even a vlog, she’s get more subscribers and she may feel more fulfilled, at the moment her content has just stagnated, she doesn’t really have any purpose, where as most other people I know who’s parent are mega rich, they went and worked for charities etc just to force them to do something, it’s a shame she hasn’t done something similar as she actually feels passionate. She should also start engaging with her followers more, she has the time now, she doesn’t edit her videos so it would just replace that

I hate when influencers say "This part of the video is sponsored by x". Um, no, that's not how it works. It's so misleading to her audience.

I wonder what Zak would do if he and Jess broke up. How would he explain the gap in his resume to his employers?
"My ex girlfriend forced convinced me to edit her videos for her while she reads books all day long and take cringy shots of her doing mundane things around London".
Report her if you think it’s unclear, the more people who report the more likely they’re gonna do something

To the amazing tattler who had the tea on jessie being lazy, unhygienic and unable to clean up after herself at uni, firstly this is great lighthearted tea, so whover troed to hush them down, why?? And you're on a gossip forum stop spoiling things flr tje rest of us. It also make a lot of sense to me, as I doubt jessie has ever had to bleach the loo herself.

No doubt she grew up with an army of cleaners, housekeepers (not the same as a cleaner at all) gardners and grounds keepers, Nannies and someone to drive her about on a whim before she learnt. People who've never cleaned just don't even think to, they really do believe it just happens.

(This is also true to people from more humble backgrounds who had a parent pick up after them continually. They make horrible housemates.)

Even though she doesn't need to work, i am surprised her mother didn't cut her off financially after her masters, doesn't she want jessie to be able to stand on her own two feet. Have some self respect? Is she not embarrassed her daughter has no ambition or drive?? She has the benefit of a good education behind her, two degrees ffs. She could even offer to give her some money if jessie took on a voluntary role, or a low paid but, valuable job part time. Supporting zak as well is mind boggling, what about if (when) they split? Wtf will he actaully do? How will their child have any respect for them if they are just loafing around their lovely house acting like middleaged teenagers.

Maybe something is in the works, but she is hiding is better than zak's insurance policy her pregnancy if it is.
I’m sure her mum doesn’t charge her rent but she’ll be making a lot of money from sponsorship deals! She doesn’t need mummy’s money, I’m sure she doesn’t depend on her mum in that way, people always underestimate how much influencers earn, she does ads pretty regularly, has been an “old skool” influencer before the market boomer, she’ll be able to stand on her own two feet quite comfortably tbh

I know I've said this before on this thread but I was furloughed in April and then made redundant in September so I haven't worked much of this year at all and I've been so so bored. I can't believe he's not tempted to go back to being a chef, as he'd get out the house for a bit as most restaurants are doing takeaway. Maybe the household don't want him to though if they're shielding more than usual because of Jess' mum

Guys you're amazing - can't believe you called it!! Hopefully this gives her some focus and meaning in her life. I think she's in for a shock but no doubt will have a ton of help. Lovely news about her Mum too.

Like others have said, I really enjoyed her vlogs whilst she was living in Edinburgh. Despite not being at uni at the time (so no studying to do) I found them weirdly motivating to get stuff done in general. I think because she was so organised it made me want to implement that into my own life?!?

So far vlogtober has all been a bit samey. It's not stopping me watching as I do quite enjoy her vlogs. I just hope the rest of the month brings us some different content other than gym, car journeys and sitting in bed reading.

Monday commute, my arse!

For most people, their Monday commute doesn't involve a completely empty tube carriage during the mid-afternoon quiet period...

Is it anything to do with what indie might be doing? Surely she’s at an age where she’s almost doing a levels? And Jess is jealous

She reminds me so much of the main character, Will, in About A Boy.... in particular, this quote:

”Full hours can be a little bit intimidating and most activities take about half an hour. Taking a bath: one unit, watching Countdown: one unit, web-based research: two units, exercising: three units, having my hair carefully disheveled: four units. It’s amazing how the day fills up, and I often wonder, to be absolutely honest, if I’d ever have time for a job. How do people cram them in?”
The irony given her mum and step dad work in a sector where they have to record time in 6minute units...

I wonder if they are going to convert one of the rooms in her mom's house as a temporary nursery, since I doubt her house will be ready in 4 ish months. It's selfish but I hope she announces the pregnancy, I love "bumpdates" and vlogs related to pregnancy lol.

I also subscribed to her back in her school days before I met her in person and also enjoyed her videos then. Don’t know how but she came across more likeable/relatable when she was doing what I got for Christmas videos showing off her 3 new Chanel bags - definitely not relatable for me anyway!
I think it was because in spite of her very obvious wealth she still worked hard at what she was doing. She at least seemed to be very organised and put 100% in to her school and uni work. Also she did some volunteering both in travelling to India to help kids and working in a monkey sanctuary for a few weeks. These kind of opportunities are not available to everyone but she was doing something that mattered and something she cared about...

It is a far cry from the napping and reading commitments she makes now. She just seems to me like she hates youtube for the past few years. She used to create content. Now she just exists slothing around on there.
