One of Neil's friends got axed from the Irish version and I'm pretty appalled to read that the show is body-shaming their pro dancers and also waiting until the 11th hour to renew contracts (after over a year of dancers not being able to get much work).



I hope Strictly treats the dancers better because this is not on!!

Oh that's really shocking especially with Ryan being one of their best male dancers! I am shocked that they were giving him trouble over his weight In 2019 I certainly didn't even notice his weight change.
I get the impression the dancers are treated poorly over there, during the 3rd season they dropped 4 dancers too. I don't think they have quite understood that the audience prefers to have a bit of stability in the pro line up.

There were rumours that Chloe Hewitt was axed because she was getting a bit bigger.

Chloe was lovely but she just wasn't up to the Strictly standard of Pros, there was a few Pro dances where she made a mistake. I suspect she was just a bit too young

I wonder if he's counting Kai as one of them even though he chose to leave. Giulia & Robert Rowinski are two of them IMO, both are in their home countries and haven't travelled back to Ireland this time.

I liked Robert a lot he was a bit of a Brendan character (along with Ryan) that would talk back to the judges but always seemed popular in general.

Chloe always gives me the impression she wouldn’t be that great in the studio with a celeb partner. She seems sweet enough but I don’t think she had the IT that a strictly requires. Like you say a bit young and probably quite inexperienced.

She seems fairly happy on her insta feed.Still appears to be doing bits and bobs in ten dance world. Bought a house with her partner last year too.

Chloe's situation was a strange one - she was featured a bit in her first series with ITT segments and then danced at Christmas with Gethin but in her second series, she really was invisible and they had 3 new women that year who all got celebs while she didn't. Bearing that in mind, it wasn't at all surprising that she wasn't renewed for 2018. My theory is that the Christmas special was her audition and that she was only hired as a package deal to get AJ. I guess they weren't convinced by her choreo for Gethin so they let her go at the earliest opportunity (possibly was under a 2 year contract after the 2015 pro turnover) and didn't feature her in the following series.

Probably just not the right personality or enough experience to be effective as a pro. Not sure it's an age thing - plenty of young dancers here and abroad have done well. Nikita is only 23 and everyone seems to like him, Kai was 22 when he made his first final in Ireland etc.

Yes I agree for a Pro they need to have so many different skills and qualities beyond being a great dancer like Choreography ability, teaching, stage presence, personality, an instinct for tv work and basically act as a therapist for their celeb.
I think this is partly why Nikkita and Kai have come across so well in their first year, they have previous experience, and it shows with how comfortable they are in front of the camera.

I won’t click on a Sun link but it wouldn’t surprise if me some quarters are starting to panic at the very real possibility that Dan could be in the final at this rate…

Quite a lot I think. I don’t think he’ll win but I can see him getting to the final. And because it’s only a 3-couple final, that would be at the expense of two better Dan-cers (I’m so sorry, I know it’s not a laughing matter )

I think it’ll be Rhys and AJ or Rhys and John in the dance off tonight. I’m just basing that on my view of the salsa - I would take it out altogether, it’s a bit forgettable (Abbey Clancey’s sticks in my mind, I think because she got a really high score for it?) and the only other one I remember is Jake Wood and Janette’s.

Rhys is the only one left who has been in a dance off!

Alexandra - I feel - expected to do well. She is talented and ambitious and driven. All very admirable. She was mourning her mother, which of course affected how she came across. Unfortunately the great British public does not vote for confident talented young women. It votes for cheerful men who try really hard. Like Dan. And sometimes men who cry a lot like Ore. Rose is getting the vote because she has quite an offbeat sense of humour, she’s so funny. I think that is her secret.

i think some of the dislike was that she at that point was a west end performer- a ringer. She could already dance and perform.

Paddy Power have Rose currently at 1/5 to win. It's in the bag. I can't see Dan getting saved above anyone, and presumably Rhys would be sent home against one of the Big Three..

I fear the Dan fans are now on a crusade to get him to final!
If he were to end up in the dance off with Rhys(which would be the logical outcome this week) I wouldn't trust the judges to not save Rhys!
I really don't want any of the other three in the dance off, but it could be the the only guarantee that Dan goes!

I'm looking forward to R+G's AS tonight...I think it's got potential...
