I think when people think you should follow a trajectory of a certain life path. Doesn't always go that way.

I have travelled and worked in different continents but that doesn't mean I have greater experience than people who have lived in the same area all their life.

I'm academic but completely dense in other ways, there are different forms of intelligence.

This is so true and I hate the stereotype that just because people aren't academic, they aren't clever. My wife was told she was thick in school and it affects her confidence to this day with certain things, yet she's the one who fixed our outside tap when it started leaking during the frost and she has trained our dogs in ways I couldn't. I'm academic but couldn't do what she does.
