As for H, I wish he would shut up that he’s gay. We know, we all knew back in the 90s. It’s not a big deal. What’s he going to do if one of his sons is straight??

Dubai invited them before knowing H was gay, they invited them again knowing that, so clearly not that homophobic are they? Being outlandish and in your face is not part of the culture. There are gay people in the UAE, you just be respectful about it i.e. not throwing it in everyone's face.

Very true, my brother lives out there and is constantly trying to get me to go over - his view is that it’s same for gay men as it is for men/women as long as your ‘respectful’ and I guess ‘discreet’ it’s fine. All H had to do was ditch the hotpants and the pride flags, pop in a sparkly suit and no questions would be asked. I also know a couple of guys from uni l, both gay, and live very happily together over there.

Forgive me if this is a very naive view. I also think they just wanted to do Brighton Pride, take the cheque and go and do their own thing for a bit.

I know friend who is good friends with h’s ex husband the father of his twin boys and apparently h is vile to the ex and when he started dating his new boyfriend would send the ex pictures of the new one wearing the exs old stuff saying look how much better he looks in this than you did. not a lot of people like h from the village him and his ex used to live they dislike him cause he rude to people very don’t you know who I am attitude

This does not surprise me. I am very pro 'be who you want to be' but I feel that H takes it too far, like he feels the need to thrust the fact that he is gay in everyone's face all the time. I feel re the Dubai concert, people are paying for you to entertain them with your songs and dancing, not to make political statements. Surely just leave the skirt at home for one concert? I can imagine he kicked up a right stink about it all and the rest of the band didn't really have a choice but to say no.

Yeah it's in Claire's book (bought from Poundland in the last year - bargain) - in which, as a sidenote, she comes off as spoiled. Shagging whoever as she was "young and didn't know better" - shagging a guy with a pregnant gf in your early 20s? Right you are miss innocent. The H/manager part was she was sworn to secrecy but the others asked her and she said she may as well admit it as they'd worked it out in a very "oops not my fault" at all kind of way.
What I did love is that Lee acted as personal trainer for her to help her get in shape for her wedding.

Meant to add obv Rhys was at fault too but it seems like Claire just gets what Claire wants.

Lisa Scott Lee is the anti Christ and was always jealous of the other 2 girls - Faye because she was pretty and Claire because she was talented. Poor little Lisa with her plain face and tuneless voice.

Her reality show was amazing though!

H and Lisa seem very close, which is funny considering it was him and Claire who went solo back in the day. I can imagine H would be draining to be around, I don’t think I could put up with him. They did seem really appreciative of the support when I saw them last night, it seemed genuine. But I would say for some of them it’s a source of income rather than something they really want to do.


He made that joke at my show last night too and she laughed and said people keep asking her if it’s true but it’s not.

It kind of makes sense that the two thirstiest members get on so well today - they are probably super keen for a comeback whilst it’s more of a money or don’t want to perform in a pub thing for the rest.

I remember H constantly pissing off the rest of the band back in the nineties - it was a mixture of being ultra hyper as well as seeing himself as the star.

H has emerged a few times over the years (once or twice on Never Mind the Buzzcocks and the like), but never popped. I don’t imagine sharing a name with Ian Watkins of Lostprophets‘ fame helped either (if only when one Googles “who dis guy?”)

Other singing “personalities” seemed to have a longer 15mins (Darius Danesh, Chico, The Cheeky Girls, Stacey Solomon etc) with TV or theatre chucked in, while other pop band’s fellas quietly retired or went into theatre / panto. This makes me think he doesn’t get on with other people in the industry / is a bit of a prick.

Lisa was quieter back in the day - everyone wanted to talk to Claire in interviews while Faye copped a lot of grief for Claire leaving. However, Lisa was extremely ambitious and really ran with a scripted reality TV show in 2005 (a couple of years ahead of the curve for reality TV) as well as ”managing” her brother’s career. It was unfortunate she was the weakest singer and dancer out of Steps.

I wouldn’t pay to see Steps in concert, but I would buy tickets to an evening of Pete Waterman’s acts including them, Rick Astley, Kylie etc.

I know he had parts on Say You'll Be Mine & It's The Way You Make Me Fell but didn't he sing...or rather co-sing on a few of the earlier ones like To Be Your Hero with H?

I remember him doing Please Come Home For Xmas on one of the tours and I quite liked it. He sounded a lot better than Mark bloody Owen and his 'cat's balls stuck in a door' voice.

And 5,6,7,8 of course! Well that’s more talking . He sings a bit more now I think.

What song did she fuck up? In Aberdeen she did the talking after they had just sung Something in Your Eyes and introduced their next song which she wrongly called Something in Your Eyes

She either deliberately or accidentally stole a line of Faye's in What the Future Holds.

Stomp, she sang “keep doing your own thing and I’ll keep doing mine” then just stopped singing! Then she shouted “sing with me I can’t hear you!” Lee and Faye laughed so it definitely wasn’t intentional.

I see she's doing another solo album. Bet that won't go down well with the others.

Quite a few guests are on it including Andy Bell and Delta Goodrem. It went in at #2 today on the album chart and according to the chart site, topped the Official Record Store Chart as well. Good news initially but next week will be the tester...will it stay or will it flop out like Rita Ora's who got #1 on the ORSC and #6 on the album chart then the next week wasn't even in the #100?

I’m watching Totally Scott Lee now - thank you for recommending, it’s brilliant and cringe! I just read Jodie Marsh’s autobiography, I’m clearly stuck in the early 2000s!
