it could ...also, take into account the timing of this revelation...and the fact that Shane is an author. This doesn’t explain why she would pull her bikini into her crack for her mom to film and purposely put it as a thumbnail. And she wasn’t overly developed for a girl the age 12, her body was nowhere near what it is now. So, guys are going to sexualize her anyway so why not? Is that her philosophy? But their channel isn’t about her and her body though, right? It’s about their relationship so wouldn’t this be disrespectful to her partner? So why put it out there in ways that you don’t have to? And if she really had a problem with men sexualizing her then she wouldn’t have dated Shane because he picked her, at least in part, because of how she looks. Also, why did they do the shower video if she has such a horrible history of men viewing her as a sex object? Wouldn’t Shane have said, I understand what you’ve been through, let’s not do this...or she would’ve just said she didn’t want to do it because of her past. So, it was horrible but it wasn’t bad or traumatic enough to now use it to make money?

She may feel that she’s reclaimed her body after those experiences and can use it however she wants.

You’re acting like there’s a specific way she should react to being sexualized when she was young and there just isn’t.

I just went back to read the interview of the other woman dating the guy with SMA (Anna Wan and Matt) and holy crap the difference between her honesty and Hannah and Shane's phony bullshit is so blatant.

First of all she's 30 years old and works as an assistant professor of math. So not some lost 19 year old student with no ambitions in life. And they met on a dating site - she didn't search him up online like a creep.

Then, she's very honest about her reaction to his appearance at first, saying she was taken aback by how thin and weak he actually was, but that they connected on common values. She admits to having second thoughts at first because of his severe disability, that her parents told her they wanted better for her, and that she wasn't comfortable with intimacy until five months into the relationship. Best part - her boyfriend gets paid care and she says her own care for Matt "stops at wiping his butthole".

Compare that to unemployed crazy eyes Hannah who can't shut up about what a perfect hawt chad Shane is, and that it was totally normal for her to carry him to the toilet and wipe him off the first time they met in person. Oh and her crazy mother acting like her kid won the romantic lottery, and constantly third wheeling because that's totally normal.

I find it kind of ironic that his robotic arm is approved fully by health insurance and the first thing that he does with it is drink a big glass of beer. Even a standard bottle of alcohol would be taxing for his small frame and liver, so I'm at a loss as to why Hannah lets him drink alcohol every day. She's enabling him. His excitement over alcohol is really off-putting and juvenile to me.

At least try to do everything you can for your health if you're going to make a YouTube channel about it? Like fair enough if the guy wants a beer now and then but it seems to be a lottt more often than that. If you're going to get all these people to send you money and gifts due to your disability then at least show a real effort toward your health.

I really think their channel is on a serious downturn unless/until they have babies. Their views have been tanking and they've already exhausted the salacious topics, like sex, fertility and the questions people have about them, like genetic testing and caregiver burnout. People are tired of them milking the fertility issue when there's no news. They lack charisma, they seemingly have no friends, and no interesting hobbies. I've also noticed that they've stopped clickbaiting Hannah's body; maybe those videos were getting reported and demonetized or she's just tired of people calling them out for it. More than half of their fanbase appears to be Trumpers so while I respect S&G for being open about their beliefs, they've alienated a large portion of their fanbase. All of this is what happens when you build your channel on clickbait and sensationalism; eventually you lose steam.

Agree. Clearly Hannahs "thing" is caretaker/nurturer role. It explains the randomly getting a bunch of dogs too, focus on a baby etc. The more to take care of the better. I think that her relationship reflects a possible lack of self esteem and I also think that he is a fixed variable in a life that prior to him was full of fleeting connections that resulted from moving I believe 17 times throughout her childhood and young adulthood. I imagine that she felt powerless during these moves and what better way to reclaim control than be someone's caretaker and literal lifeline. Whether she gets rats, a dog, Shane or a baby, they are akin to the addictive effects of drugs increasing in intensity and one new addition must require more attention and effort than the last in order to achieve the same or an increased dopamine release.

The thing is huge and bulky. It's basically a kiddie plate with 4 sections and the arm is attached to the plate. The arm holds a spoon or fork or whatever. Shane uses his famous thumb to press buttons to direct the spoon.

There's still just as much work for Hannah who still has to cook, fill the plate, and clean it afterwards, but Shane gets the glory of saying he put food in his face, something he admonished Cole for.

So I think that they're using this video to show how "normal" they are. Stopping birth control in preparation for wanting a baby is what "normal" couples do. I don't believe for a second that Hannah has ever taken any birth control. Correct me if I'm wrong, but she would only need that if, sorry to be graphic, she were able to open Shane's legs and sit on top of him. Both would break him. No way are they having relations this way.
ETA: am only just now watching the video. Ok so she's been taking it since she was 15. Sounds very much like she has had to take it for irregular periods or some other condition that makes it necessary for young girls to take birth control that has nothing to do with being sexually active.

I am new here, but really surprised they she wants a baby. My husband is disabled, though no way as severely as Shane. I have to help him shower and get dressed/undressed and there is no way I'd want a baby as well. May as well write my own life off. It's small things, like I would like my child to have the childhood I did and go swimming and do gymnastics, but all that would be on me as well as the house work/cooking.

Yep, and that explains even more to me why Shane is hesitant. The dynamic now has Hannah obsessed with Shane. Once theres a baby, and Shane has actual outside help, there goes all his attention.

One of the weirdest things for me to understand is that hes had 2 previous girls that look exactly like Hannah lol. It is so annoying how they try to spin people's skepticism about their relationship into everyone being ableist trolls. If Hannah were with someone like Cole, hardly anyone would bat an eyelash. He really is "a man in a wheelchair" (as they try to downplay Shane's condition as) and the attraction would easier to wrap one's head around. Cole is conventionally handsome, with a good personality, and can do things for himself, unlike useless, narcissistic gnome-baby Shane. A MAN in a wheelchair CAN potentially get a beautiful girl, get married, etc. It's NOT the wheelchair, S&G. When my husband and I got married, we applied for our marriage license around 6 months before the wedding. Licenses expire and in some (if not all states) within 6 months.

There's a pattern here. All of these big dealsy life changes, but absolutely no permanence. The puppies will be adopted, they aren't pregnant yet, and there's no proof that they are legitimately married.

There are so many things wrong with their story and yet they make it sound so reasonable. Yeah of course if there was a delay they had to change the date on the certificate. But honestly, who would be so careless as to not have some paper work sent with plenty of time to spare. They've neglected to mention why no one else was present, like if it were real, surely her parents could come sit in the garden and be witnesses. We all know they have seen each other this year and can socially distance. The one thing that got me about their truth video was they never once apologised for lying. Even if it was an honest mistake I would expect them to say something along the lines of I'm so sorry we didn't tell you earlier, we thought it wasn't a big deal and we were embarrassed. Yet they act like us lot being shocked is totally unacceptable and unreasonable. I mean Shane even outright lied about their legal wedding. It also really bugs me how they shadow ban every negative thing from their comments. If you refresh their comments regularly you can sometime come across a glimpse of questioning or doubt from a viewer but within five or ten minutes it's been deleted.
