I have no idea how people can sit here and not say a word about the fact some meat heads set a hotel ON FIRE that is housing asylum seekers.

This has gone too far now. I'm scared for my friends, the students I work with (majority international students who are here on their own for the summer and who pay a ridiculous amount of money to study here) and especially the young men I coach who are seeing all this devastation around them because of the colour of people's skin.

It's abhorrent. It's disgusting and it's backward.

By all means, let's discuss immigration properly. A good debate is healthy. But this is awful.

No one rioted when a black mother and children were burnt to death in their home in Clifton by a white man did they?

I'm looking forward to the protests the next time a white male kills a woman. I'm sure all these people who want their country back will be out kicking off about that. Or will it be "its not all men."

When did we become so bleeping horrible to each other?

I worked in the benefits system for years and heard this loads of times 'foreigners coming in to the country and taking jobs' my response was always that if all our unemployed found work that there would be no jobs for people coming in to the country to take.

I don't mean people unable to work due to health or caring commitments I mean the work shy career unemployed that never wanted a job anyway.
At least it’s that. Years ago I heard people say that it was due to Maggie Thatcher. The same Maggie Thatcher who was already dead.
the truth is a lot of people who can only do the minimum wage work want management wages for it, and won’t accept that actually most people don’t get paid enough so you crack on with what you can earn

Nice that he is able to show his face and warn them on the outcome IF they get caught but what about the fix? No mention of drafting in the army to assist our police?
Not sure how people would feel about internment? Prisons are exploding where would they detain them?

Ffs, I wish people would stop banging on about ‘bringing the army in’.
That would be a disaster.

I don't think that speech is going to calm anything down but I suppose the rioters aren't going to listen to Keir anyway.

I can't believe I'm watching people throw stones and sticks at riot police live on Sky News. The police are backing away from the protestors now. It must be so scary for them and their families.
They pelt the king with eggs they won’t give a toss about Starmer.

I meant help of army just to keep the crowds back. The police need help with that.

If terms of arrests, I don’t feel like as many as they like to let us believe will be arrested and prosecuted but I didn’t mean help of army for that.

Apologies if I have misunderstood your post

You can’t argue with stupid! Everyone has their own views …I speak to a cross section of society in my job and not one person is happy with the levels of migration we have …so many numpties on here 🤣🤣🤣. Keep parroting the same old nonsense…time will tell! 😝
There's a lovely thread on Tattle all about asylum seekers and when it suits, other migrants, where your 'views' would fit right in. I'm sure you'll be most welcome over there.

Apologies if I am being naive but I don’t know what else could help at this point?
It is out of control and there is no end in sight.

Always happy to be educated on stuff like this.

I’m not sure the army have the power arrest people? That’s down to the police.

In Middlesbrough they were only letting people drive through a crossroads junction if they were white, literally saying if they were white they could continue, this is in a very muslim area of the town.

I don't know how to break this to you, but some Mosques, Gurdwara's, Synagogues, Churches etc even operate as food kitchens for homeless folk at times and people are welcomed in, in whatever they happen to be wearing.
Years ago I was in East London with a friend when someone accosted us to come to the open doors event of the mosque near Whitechapel. My friend was wearing a mini-short and asked if she could go dressed this way. They said yes. So we visited the mosque with a light piece of tissue on our head (not a Hijab btw) that they gave us even though my friend was wearing her mini-short. It went well.

Just for the record you need to cover your shoulders and knees while visiting churches in Italy. They are quite strict about it. Some russian orthodoxes even ask women to cover their hair. What's your view on it?

I think women should be able to wear what they want although I have a certain tolerance for requirements inside religious buildings. A lot of them have some sort of rules and I take it that I am visitor so I abide by it.
Appreciate you both replying without just calling me far right. I don’t personally agree with ‘modesty’ requirements within reason at a tourist attraction which is what those Italian churches are but at the same time I wouldn’t be showing up wearing nothing either as no one needs to see it. I do have questions about why women have to hide their hair but not men as I don’t understand why this is an issue and feels regressive. I do actually want to learn more about different views and everything in the last week has been scary.

There have been riots in England in 1981, 1991, 2001, 2011 and some of those were arguably worse than we have seen in recent days. The army was not deployed in any of those situations in fact the army has not been deployed on the streets of England in a security role since 1919 when the police went on strike.

The police are issuing dispersal orders and orders preventing the wearing of masks etc and I guess the next step could be curfews.

It does seem that alot of people are more worried about the possibility of Brown skinned people maybe committing a crime than the White skinned who are committing them
Who bleeping cares what colour the person committing the crime has? Or whether they are male or female.
A crime is a crime.
All the non sequiturs coming out now.
bleeping pointless.

You’ve parroted racist talking points from right wing media. It’s quite abundantly clear you expected everyone to agree with YOU about immigration in this country not realising that most of us are decent human beings with empathy. Most of us here want these racist thugs off our streets and not to be destroying them. People like you have come here and not had an ounce of empathy or compassion for minorities in this country
