Ah, I checked out her TikTok (I stopped using it around 7 months ago) and come to find she’s been posting there for a while, I guess I’ll keep up with her there since I got IG blacklisted and YouTube is dead atp
I see where she posted some stuff about their apartment renovation. It’s still crazy to me how she was able to go from living to her moth-infested-cupboards in Rome to an almost completely new townhouse in Houston, then to a modern apartment in Florence that needed a whole kitchen added, to an even bigger apartment that is getting tore up from the floor up. If I were so lucky as to have just bought an apartment or a house here in the US, I’d be so broke I wouldn’t be able to do a major renovation for years, let alone doing one ex situ while still paying rent. I guess being an influencer is more profitable than having a 9 to 5. Complimenti I guess.

Her pinned TikTok says “somehow I moved to Italy” - somehow meaning privilege of birth and money. She was able to get her dual citizenship while living in Italy on a student visa because doing it in the US was going to take too long. She went to the same language school as Zoey and it wasn’t cheap, you pay upfront for tuition.

I understand now she won’t really be teaching, just chatting with people. Her suddenly “wanting a way to practice Italian that didn’t exist when I was first learning” after being there for a couple years does seem like she found a way to monetize it. I wonder how it works.

Oh God @emm Yeah, Carlo and Sarah were maybe funny the first 2 videos lol... I don't know why these things ("let me make my Italian husband mad/play a joke on him/laugh at his English etc) are so popular. There's that other couple, The Pasinis, too. Though he seems less simpatico to me. I think @moronglace mentioned these types upthread.

Btw @hgfyu , I've been seeing Shayna's boyfriend Romeo more in her stories and detected an american-leaning accent, or at least not a strong Italian one. I'm assuming he attended an Int'l school , did Uni abroad or "worked" Internationally? Do you know what his story is?

On his Insta bio he has an Italian and a U.S. flag, so he might be citizens of both countries and/or lived in the U.S. for some time.
These are all images of him with upper class people so I’m guessing he came from an upper class background.

I thought she was vegan and not veg? Or maybe she's relaxed more now pregnant? Otherwise nothing we didn't see via her IG stories. "Honoring cravings", coffee etc lol.

Apart from being apparently raised vegan by her mom, she's never really claimed the label of "vegan" on her SM, she's talked in the past about her occasional consumption of eggs, fish and cheese. But she says she has never eaten red meat and probably never will.

As she says she does no exercise when she often films herself in the gym and her last post is her kickboxing

It's a very "pick me" thing to do. Act like you really enjoy food (unlike other girls) but you naturally don't need to work out to stay slender.

Did she use the words “single mom”? Cause if she did, I’d think that’s a huge slap in the face to her husband… who has to travel for work so that she can buy bougie sweatpants and renovate their new apartment.

I'm trying to remember if she said it exactly (or if it was the vibes) but she always says she's doing it alone most of the time. Which...you know what job your husband has. Did they not discuss this or think about what it means having a baby, now toddler, with him gone weeks at a time?

Anyone see the comtents page of Lauren's book also does it annoy Anyone else that she's using American spelling? Im intrigued as to how these guides Anyone makes could help people move to Italy, without a visa or EU passport that's the biggest hurdle, not finding out about dining etiquette

I like food travel content but even hers isn't good, most of what she seems to eat is just junk food you could get anywhere. I cannot imagine living in Italy, travelling to Asia and ordering pizza and nachos

Yeah, I don't understand these trips myself because it's like going as a fan to meet your social media idol. Also as tour leader or whatever I'd feel obligated to be "on" all the time, but that's just me and my personality.

I think that's why Kacie does well , she js a trained actress so she can... for other influencers it must be hard

So now she'll be teaching Italian via live "coffee chats" on TikTok? I'm assuming she's testing interest so she can eventually monetize it.

I know we only see a slice of her life but I don't know why she's always on about being stressed and so busy as a new mom. Kaia goes to daycare, Sofie doesn't have a traditional job, she's out and about more than many mothers of young kids. The other week she said Kaia napped for over 2 hours so she was able to shower...yet has also posted multiple "here's my 10 step nighttime skincare routine!" stories.

Funny, I remember in her old videos (granted from like 7+ years ago) she said she was nowhere near qualified to teach Italian so she hesitated at a viewer suggesting/asking. I guess desperate times call for desperate measures… but tbh even though she’s good at Italian I don’t think she should be teaching beyond basics because her grammar can be weak at times.
