I haven't been on Instagram the while week but has Sofie acknowledged the situation in Ukraine at all? All I've seen is her talking about her trip and trying to flog cheap tat through affiliate links. Given how vociferous she's been about politics in the past I'm really surprised she's not mentioned it.

Not that I've noticed, but then again maybe I've been too busy cackling at her strain at having to fake enthusiasm in her new career as an influenza! The strain of having to cover up her vile personality must be excruciating, poor luv!

Anyway if she's made any money from those affiliate links, I'll be truly shocked. Who wants to take organising advice from a woman who literally revels in living in a filthy cave loaded with tat, or buy clothes off someone who brags about not showering for days on end

Constantly telling people you’re NOT AT ALL bothered usually makes it seem like you feel the opposite.

Also berating someone with several (if not more) responses is not a measured and calm way to reply at all.

I really find them obnoxious and unbearable, I don’t understand why so many like them.

I know what you mean. I still really like them on podcasts but I just don't think they're suited to social media (in any form!).

I don't give a flying fuck how Sofie justified breaking lockdown rules to have her bathroom painted by a friend - bottom line is that she broke lockdown rules. She seems to have a superiority complex and think that her circumstances are somehow exceptional.

This is my thoughts as well. They argued it so well and it’s all so very logical, but the point remains that this is partly how we’re in this mess, with loads of people doing things like this thinking they’re the exception but it’s okay because they’ve been “100% safe”.
Like was it really so necessary it just couldn’t have waited until restrictions start to ease?
In fairness I think the bathroom does look really nice now and what she’s said of the landlord they probably wouldn’t be mad, but it still doesn’t change the fact it’s not allowed.

I agree with you @Awkward_Somber - it’s impulsive purchasing, and she always goes for ‘the best’ for herself. A quick ‘I deserve it’ buzz, then you start feeling scared that you made a bad decision… and Sofie performs this anxiety on her socials. Bleak.

I’m sure she’s up to her eyeballs in debt tbh, she’d need thousands of Patreons to fund her lifestyle. She’s in the low hundreds. Stand up comedy is a financially precarious job to start with, and those Deliveroo costs rack up so quickly over time (YES I’m still obsessing with her ordering a single fkn subway for lunch ).

Finances do play on her mind too, she posts weird ‘financial advice’ stories all the time. But the content really varies, half the time she’s showing off being disorganised and chaotic, the other half she’s showing off as being a super budgeter. Blatantly obvious the former is closer to the truth.

agree - I think sofie posts about Finance/money stuff to try and justify or mask her impulsive spending. I remember them posting that they had a lot of student debt from Denmark too. Really she needs to hire an accountant to help manage payments for her work (I assume they get big chunks and then nothing like most self employed people) who can maybe also help her with budgeting too. I know it’s not cheap but it’s a better investment than pelotons and takeaways.

Read your post with great interest - was supposed to see Guilty Feminist live at the Apollo before Covid hit. Early last year I was bordering on fanatical about DFW and the podcast, but something changed during lockdown. It may have been the special lockdown episodes where she interviewed her privileged friends about how much they were suffering during the pandemic because they couldn't go for cocktails and get their hair done.

Exactly this. Sofie portrays herself in a certain way that makes her seem woke or progressive, but the reality of her life doesn't necessarily reflect that. For example, she's critical of puppy mills but got Hank. She's not straight but she has only been with cis men. She's a socialist but is doing a pretty good job of fueling capitalism. She wants to open up dialogue but attacks anyone who dares to message her, etc.

do you think Sofie declaring she's not an activist any more is part of this? like, she realised she was getting flack for not walking the walk so just decided it would be easier if she didn't even have to try?

Totally shocking. With the Patreon and the company accounts, plus living alone in a larger than average flat with a garden in London, it is clear to anyone that Sofie is not poor.

Also, if you go into the descriptions on Pateron, they literally make zero promises about providing anything of substance like most people on Patreon do. Unsurprisingly, they also whip out the mental health card as a reason why people should support them. Wish the rest of us who're struggling could just go on the beg online for absolutely nothing in return.

It baffles me that 413 people would want to support with a regular financial contribution. Who are these people?!

Personally I don’t think the sticky will be reversible without bringing some of the door coating off with it in points, and if it is removing residue adhesive is a fucking nightmare. When we had some work done recently we had the sticky back floor protector put down & removing it off the karndean we have in the hall was tough, I ended up using this awful chemical for it which I was worried would take the top layer off

Oh god. I've never used these types of sticky things before but yeah, good point...I bet the residue is a nightmare.

On the Zoom point, I just meant that lots of people like their real life background to look cool (like me haha) rather than using a fake background, which often chops off half of my glasses and just feels a bit weird.

I know, Joback...and it's quite painful to watch. It seems to be a daily occurance at the moment. She needs some therapy to understand why she doesn't deal well with criticism. Though, having lived in Denmark for a few years, i'd take a stab at it being issues with her parents. No offence to any Dane's amongst us, you're all lovely once you thaw, but my god, they can be a very cold and unforgiving bunch. They're a tough nut to crack and that's me being polite about it! I wish she would find another therapist, first of all she never should have been with the same one all this time, but she is also on medication (no shame , I am too) and to have to not improved at all in so long
