I would honestly never go to a SW meeting or weigh in again. They are the most toxic places. The consultants are sales people, the whole business is designed to make money. There is no nutrition advice. Labelling any food a syn is disgusting. All food has a calorie value, just eat at your limit and stay in deficit and you can eat what you like. It takes a bit more effort to weigh some pasta or rice but eating unmeasured amounts of anything isn't going to help you lose weight. The people who do well generally have a lot of weight to lose so for them cooking from scratch and even thinking about eating healthy food will help. Its a massive con.

This annoys me and gives SW a bad name.
I’ve said before I love the plan but not groups etc and posts like this account is taking the piss.
Today I’ve had scrambled egg and avocado on toast for breakfast. Dinner is a chicken salad and tea tonight is a pasta bake with salad.
If I want chocolate later then I will fit in but within my syns.
Anyone wondering, yes I’ve counted my avocado as 5 syns for amount I had.
SW has made me cook from scratch and eat fresh produce and make my meals colourful and healthful.
I’d never dream of that for a breakfast. Piss take and I bet it tastes rank

My daughter and I join slimming world as something to keep us on track for summer holidays, we get to spend time together, we have a laugh and set our targets. Covid-19 has changed all that, I hated the zoom meetings as I use that for my work appointments and it’s not the same as having a group.

I like many in our group like it when other members lose weight and share their stories in group. We don’t like when the group leader shares the stories of their inspirational slimming world members who have lost 10 stone but gained 20 stone in ego for example: Big Ben to Small Ben. The consultant discussed him for about 3 weeks and virtually ever member asked the consultant not to mention Ben anymore because we saw his Instagram page, he was egotistic and narcissistic. The men in the group felt exactly the same, a man who sponges off his wife, spends her money on dressing up like James Bond to feed his ego is not inspirational at all. Yet slimming world continued to publish him in magazines and he won man of the year which was undeserved. Everyone grew very tired of seeing him

I followed sw for years, lost a lot of weight and then yo-yoed
It really messes with your head and eating imo.
I can't eat savoury rice, cous cous, beans or Muller lights these days 🤢
I also now enjoy fish and chips at the beach with my kids instead of eating a salad.
Gradually unfollowing sw accounts as they appear in my feed from over the years.

I first joined slimming world in 2008 + let me
Tell you those days were red + green days!!!! This isn’t SW bashing but I’m completely fed up of seeing impressionable people running to the shops recreating these meals and crying because they haven’t lost the weight. Everyone trying to gain the most followers achieve the most ADs become mr or Mrs slinky!! Everyone I’ve followed over the years has put back on their weight and deleted their Instagram because they cannot keep up the persona

I started SW a few years back and lost a total of 7 stone. I was doing well, became complacent, started watching the IG pages, following receipts and put on 2st. Ive gone back to following the plan in my books and lost it again.

All these big SW accounts always report huge gains after their #offplan weeks but most of it’s got to be water. It really annoyed me when they all weighed in on Boxing Day, you’re not going to get a true weight if you’ve been stuffing your face the day before, no one puts on half a stone in a day like some of them posted!
This One Account, Gained 15lb in 3 Days.

How?

Most people give up on diets because they feel restricted. I felt so restricted on SW, felt I couldn't go out or grab food on the go. The whole page is a complete contradiction.
I hated that if I had bread for breakfast I couldn’t grab a quick sandwich for lunch same with cheese etc where with calorie counting you’re not restricted to once a day eating.

I love the SW plan as I’ve lost weight with it and maintained and I eat healthy and exercise.
I dislike groups and consultants, most members as I do have to attend when not in current situation at least once in every 8 weeks but I do this to keep my access to the app which I love.
I make sure I eat a variety of colour, drink lots of water and move and it annoys me when I see people abusing the plan with all the beige etc.
I eat potatoes, pasta and rice but not in ridiculous amounts.
I’m no saint and will enjoy Easter Sunday but I enjoy being happier and healthier so I know come Easter Monday I’ll be back to my regular eating.

Jesus, I’ve never seen her page before. I assumed all the meals were all ‘sharing platters’ but most are one portion, bloody hell 🤣

This hurt my eyes

JSG went in on me once because she posted a plate of carrots and red cabbage and I had the audacity to tell her it was ‘uninspiring and not reflective of the versatility of the SW diet plan’ I had bare SW trolls on me after that day 🤣🤣🤣🤣

Putting #slimmingworld and #swmeals etc for stuff like this really annoys me too, nothing slimming world about it! Totally misleading

This is where SW does need to invest further I feel. You sit there at a group asking about how to navigate a social event or what to have when you really fancy a takeaway but don't want to blow your weight loss and there aren't really any answers. No-one wants wants to have fish and chips then take the batter off the fish or order chicken in bloody black bean sauce with boiled rice and is there anything more depressing than worrying about what you're being fed if you're at someone's house when really you should be enjoying getting together with people....especially when we've been denied these kind of events for the last year.

The on/off plan is a bit of a head fuck for so many people. It's all very well for consultants to say nothing is banned but it doesn't seem to work like that in reality. So many of us struggle with having food we can't easily fit into the plan so we end up veering off then having to reset.
Love this. A woman in my group once suggested I threw a birthday cake my step mum had made me in the bin to avoid going off plan. She couldn’t see that time and thought had gone into making the cake and it would be horrible if I just threw it away, just that it had too many syns. With Easter this week I’m fully expecting not to lose anything - my boss sent me an Easter hamper yesterday I’m trying to palm most of on my boyfriend 🤣 I’ve been poorly to be fair though (not covid!) and not been hungry really so it will be nice to actually enjoy eating something if I can.

A woman in my group used to sit in another room while her family had chippy and she sat with fish with the batter picked off and mushy peas. So messed up!

😂 I think they would be convulsing on the floor at the thought of consuming some real sugar! Those vile sweets they all make with jelly and Muller lights 🤢
😂 I know, wouldn’t dream of using a teaspoon of sugar to cook something that serves 4 but there they all are eating melted chocolate bunnies on their breakfast 😂

Thought I'd update following "bootcamp" at my group last night.

Was essentially a new member talk, going through the book and going into detail about free foods, speed foods, healthy extras and syns. There was info about the science behind SW, about hidden syns, the importance of checking on the app etc.

She asked if everyone knew that SW was in fact a calorie controlled diet (many declared they didn't have a clue) but the beauty of SW was that it was CC without having to do all the weighing and measuring as SW was about energy dense foods that were naturally lower in calories. Therefore if you were following the plan properly you'd be in a calorie deficit but also keep you full.

There was a lot of mentions of energy dense foods and concentrating on filling yourself up with free food and eating lots of speed before reaching for foods with syns.

I've never heard a SW leader acknowledge CC before, never mind actively say SW is one so that was a bit of a departure. My leader is a team developer so I'm assuming this is a active decision on SW's part to say it. They clearly see the trend for SW bashing/CC praising and challenging it.
