I think this is how my parents are about me 🤭 My sister got a bf this year and it's allll they talk about, like it's the most important thing to ever happen, thank GOD they don't have TWO single daughters anymore 🥴
it’s 10000% how mine talk about me too, i feel you 💙 my sister is single right now but mostly isn’t long-term so god bless her for taking the heat off me sometimes but i can FEEL the glances and HEAR the comments. it’s rough, and has only gotten tougher as i’ve gotten older sadly.

I am having a wahey look at how far you have come.moment.

My ex husband was so controlling I wasn't allowed contact lenses and had curfews set when I wanted to go out. Many many rules.

This weekend I am going away with 20 friends to celebrate a birthday.
I would never have been "allowed" when I was with him. I wouldn't have even asked. Just been shopping for bits for it and wanted to cry at how much my life has changed in two years. Like literally started welling up in Superdrug 🥴
Everything I thought was a reason I couldn't leave has just not been the issue I expected. It's been so easy that the two years have flown.
Ah thats so lovely and honestly so inspiring - have the most fabulous weekend! ❤❤❤

Hahahaha please - I think some people believe there are gorgeous/respectful/honest/etc guys on every corner just waiting to be snapped up! Single men of any kind are thin on the ground. Particularly as I am going into my 30s a large chunk of people are/have been married, may already have several kids. I couldn't think of anything worse than becoming a step-mum 😂 (no offense to any step-mums out there!)
Haha I have a nearly 16 year old and I totally get the turn off. I have a child but want someone without them because the thought of step mum role makes me wants to vom 🙈 I’m such a hypocrite 😂

Happy Valentines day you lovely lot!! (And New Year by the looks of things...)

What's the consensus on today? Personally I actually really love Valentines - I see it as an opportunity to celebrate love, which comes in many formats! I send cards to my close friends and my parents letting them know how much I love and appreciate them.

No romance planned of course, but I'm off to the cinema with some girlfriends this evening 😊 Hope you all get the chance to talk to a loved one today - if not, you've got us! 💘
I think it’s more common than we think- I know it’s a marketing tool, but all I’m seeing on social media is about Galentine’s and self care etc 😆

when i’m out with friends they’re usually surveying the room, seeing what talent is around, whereas i’m just chilling with some wine and probably looking really unapproachable 🤣
This is funny because it reminds me of me when I used to go out. I have good friends who were my ‘young’ friends. Same age but they didn’t have kids so I would go visit and we would go out in Manchester. I ALWAYS got told off for giving this ‘don’t come near me because I’m not sleeping with you’ look. Now they have kids so we no longer meet and go out so I don’t ever go out out.

Why do they always do that? 😭 There’s no where far enough I can run to when men do that. So annoying. Being able to have a nice chat with a guy is worth its weight in gold but it’s just so rare, they always want the pictures and the sex chat.
That would be nice, wouldn't it? I swear to god things have changed since I was younger, it was far more innocent then. It seems so much more permissive now. If you're up to that sort of thing, fine, but personally I'd like more of a connection if I ventured into anything again.

He also kept calling me 'dinky' and have a great body which I was askance at. Whatever happened to you have a nice smile?

Haha yeh I defo wouldn’t get a cat and am actually allergic to both 😂 Although the thought of a dog is 🥰 Tbh even a fish seems like too much responsibility to me!
One of those electronic dogs. I got one for a present for my nephew years ago and tried it out to see if he would like it and I got strangely attached
Thanks for all the suggestions 😊 I should definitely find something to look forward to as I come in. I should say I have a very cosy routine once I’m settled on the couch. I guess it’s like we were saying above, those hollow moments when you first come in to an empty house

Excellent tip about mumsnet 😂 I love cooking for myself too! You don’t have to worry about what anyone else likes
Slow cooker your food. Then you come home to lovely food smells 😋

Haven't been on holiday for a couple of years, and last time I had an ear infection and the weather was crap, so it wasn't exactly brilliant 🤣

Did meet some ... interesting characters in a local pub in Penzance though.

Not friends, but my siblings are like that : they always overlap their relationships, I've never known them single (they are 10-15 years older than me), for them being alone would be impossible. Their entire personality and life become their SO. I'm thankful to not have inherited that trait 🙏

Off topic but I want to do a solo trip soon-ish : if anyone here has tips/advices for a newbie, please share ❤

Did it get taken down? I looked at the subreddit, and it doesn’t seem active anymore.
Yeah they left Reddit after being trolled so much by men unsurprisingly  but there is the archive of posts on there, and they have a website with a podcast too:

It's controversial, but the 4B subreddits https://www.reddit.com/r/4bmovement/ have a lot of FDS ideas and that's my path these days...

Hahahahaha I'll just eat the whole meal for two!! 😋

I do quite love cooking for myself and doing big batches so you can freeze the extra portions and that's you sorted for the week. I know technically that's possible if you're in a relationship too, but knowing that every single serving I make is for future me's convenience and not anyone else's is priceless.

Also making the food you like the exact way you like, right amount of spices 👌 Just having what you like, when you like, how you like really!
i like your style!! 👌🏻👌🏻

picking exactly what food i want and in the exact way i like it is honestly the best. and not having to share my dips or the best slice of pizza!

I've only ever had galentines, never had a Valentine. I don't have any friends for galentines this year so I just sent ❤ to my parents/siblings.

I would think it’s a joke if I hadn’t seen so many Reddit posts about grown men not wiping their bums properly
To be fair I don't think judging people based on Reddit is necessarily the best idea 😅

I am a reasonably self aware middle aged bisexual man who generally prefers men though, so...

Single women are the happiest women. It is only society and the media that tells us in order for us to be happy we have to aspire to marriage and chidren, and that if we work, we aren't truly happy as we secretly want to be at home raising children and being homemakers. No.

Dead and gone is the 1950s housewife with nothing else to do but raise children and be a maid to her husband. Live your life ladies. I am single for 6 months now and never been happier.

Slimmer, clearer headspace, focus on ME, more money the list goes on. I'm 26 and childless, I don't want children. My next step is move back abroad and see where my feet take me :)
You remind me of me at 26. Go for it
