You can have a good idea of presence endometriosis on MRI (if you're looking for it), but so tricky and quite specialised scans - reporter would usually need to have a special interest as well as being proficient in gynae radiology. Did she even mention that? And laparoscopy still gold standard like you all said.

Ladies I know this isn't a space to diagnose but I'm wondering if anyone can help me with this/if my symptoms may be linked to endometriosis..I find sex painful and occasionally bleed,if I was to have a regular period I would be nauseous the first day, have 3/4 bowel movements and have a searing pain going down my thighs...the only thing that lessened all this was the contraceptive implant.. I am genuinely looking for solid advice/help here..

you need to see or speak to a doctor. None of us are medical professionals and you don’t want to take advice that may be wrong or dangerous. Just my thoughts. Hope you get sorted 👍🏼

Get yourself to a decent GP & get a gynae referral. They’ll do bloods & ultrasound to see if something is causing it like cyst/fibroid & also explore other things. You might have a sensitive cervix causing the pain & bleeding, or it could be a polyp. But best to go to professionals about it & in mean time ask your gp for a decent painkiller for pain!

Don’t you need a laparoscopy to diagnose endometriosis?
I was diagnosed on scan. Had large endometrial cysts.. i understand these cysts are distinctive on scan . Seen three Gyne consultants and all three diagnosed on ultra sound very quickly. .
Had an Mri then which showed more extensive disease.
I always thought sinead had endometriosis from her stories. .

She’s taking advice about the pill from a nutritional therapist! They aren’t qualified to give advice about anything never mind medical issues

Exactly. This is painful to watch.
I had listened to her podcast previously with aok nutrition and at the time thought . . I bet sinead has endometriosis and I also thought this Aok nutrition woman is dangerously lacking in knowledge but over confident.
Now sinead has a diagnosis and she is spewing out real dangerous advice quoting AOk. . Terrible. .
So painfully hard to listen to her spew inaccuracies.

And the language/terminology used is kind of typical for those made up alternative types. OCP obviously doesn't suit everyone, but she talks about it "masking" symptoms, when the actual intention is to manage them. To make her feel better by controlling hormone levels. It's like she'd rather suffer and get IV vitamins or create some food intolerance than just take it. Not like the surgical options which are definitive would be fun. Think a lot of women would be thrilled if the Pill worked to alleviate it.

Exactly this! Not sure why every blogger is so keen to bash the pill. "Masking" painful symptoms isn't the worst thing in the world.

I’m not discounting what Sinead is going through at the moment because god knows health issues for anyone are difficult to come to terms with and I have so much empathy for someone who is that position... but is it just me or does it seem a bit dramatic she is talking about a hysterectomy as the only source of treatment for this?? It seems a bit extreme to me?? Anyone, medics, nurses or people with backgrounds or history in this could give us some insight??

Nurse here, shes an absolute disgrace
Talking about a hysterectomy when she has Adenomyosis-she can't even spell it properly.
This condition isn't harmful physically to you in any way, its symptoms can affect your life,no doctor and I mean no doctor would ever EVER even consider a hysterectomy to treat this condition unless the patient was finished having their children.
She is a disgrace, I'm unfollowing her now, and I use to genuinely like watching her stories.
Imagine how many women this is going to frighten??
She is an attention seeking desperately sad woman for the way she's carrying on, you'd swear she got a stage 4 cancer diagnosis, she can go on the OCP to treat her symptoms but would rather consider a hysterectomy??????
There is feck all wrong with this one other than she is dying for attention.
If her pain was bad enough she'd be taking the OCP to help with symptoms.
Maybe she wants to have a baby and this is her psychotic way of getting Jack to agree to it now because she needs a hysterectomy.
I'm actually disgusted with her.
This is actually psychopathic tit.
I'd suggest everyone unfollow too, because this is low even for sinead. And she is dangerous. I'm reporting her posts too for false information.

Eta: if she was that weak and unwell then she wouldn't let her iron prescription run out. She'd be religious taking them. For fear of feeling so tit.
The only medical professional this one needs to see is a psychiatrist.

@Clangers2 thank you so so much for this insight 🙏🏼 🙏🏼 ♥

I didn’t want to say it.. but I had a feeling it was another sick tactic with cling onto jack..! Put pressure on him... 😳

you are so correct!! It is extremely dangerous to be spouting this narrative to her followers, I also don’t understand why people need to disclose their medical information online unless it’s coming from a place of raising awareness or encouraging others to be more vigilant/conscious (then I can understand) ...but after that it is no ones business,it seems very attention seeking (maybe this is just my view) I always feel awkward about it..like go to talk to a professional, don’t be asking for or giving your opinions on social media.

My mam had some form of endometriosis (tbh I didn't know there was different types) and she did get a hysterectomy as she was bleeding constantly, but (I was about 10 at the time so can't remember full details) I do know that her lining had grown on the outside of the womb and had fused her bladder and bowel and womb together or something....so it can be quite bad. But it took my mam ages to get a hysterectomy and they did try a number of other things first....and she was older and had already had kids.
I dont think sinead should be telling people this, and saying that the only option is hysterectomy!

Exactly. Hysterectomy is last resort stuff! Try other options first, like medication. If medication doesn't work, maybe ablation or embolisation. THEN go for the irreversible and definite solution if all else fails. I'm sure there are many women who were mostly relieved to have their hysterectomy because they were suffering so much, but many also struggled with it psychologically if pre-menopausal.

.

Not sure who she's getting her advice from or if she only heard the worst case scenario in the consultation. But NICE at least has the actual evidence reviewed.

I don’t have endometriosis but friends do.
Not one of them has been spoken to about a hysterectomy ever.
They’ve had:
Surgery to ablate/embolize
Mini pill to ease symptoms
The coil

etc etc

wonder is she planning a baby with Jack & this is her cling on way. Dangerous

She's so full of tit, learn how to even spell adenomyosis before posting all your "facts" about it. The definition she has provided is also wrong.

First of all, adenomyosis is NOT a form of endometriosis. They cannot diagnose adenomyosis without having a hysterectomy as there is no way of testing the tissue. There are many options to try to relieve and manage this without a hysterectomy. Also a hysterectomy might help the adenomyosis but IT WILL NOT CURE ENDO, IT IS A MYTH.

There is NOT different types of endometriosis (there are different stages, but there are no tests for this and it doesn't correlate to the amount of pain/symptoms you have) so iI have no idea what "tests" they are doing on her.

Endometriosis needs to be treated by a proper endo surgeon and I highly doubt there is anyone specialised enough in Bali, I know for sure there's not in NI anyways. She'll need to go to Dublin or England.

Spouting shite as usual.
However sneaky sinead always has a plan and I bet that it means that they’ll be home earlier than planned. Official story - to seek medical treatment, reality - Jack wants home and this saves face for sinead in that she isn’t letting him dictate their lives or that she’s “following a boy” it’s like she hasn’t any options
