Every time I see her interviewed it’s just her bratty , entitled, unsympathetic, stuck up attitude I think that makes people just not warm to her! She has been now brainwashed for so long she has been trained to deceive ….and that’s what makes her a danger , I agree 100% she was probably groomed to an extent & at 15 you are easily influenced…but now as an adult she should be showing way more remorse and just show she wants to come home ….from what I see if her it’s almost like she is being told to say she does ….🤷🏽‍♀️🤷🏽‍♀️🤷🏽‍♀️

Well maybe I don't want my money funding legal cases for Shamima Begum, nor paying for her upkeep if she came back. Paying our hard working NHS staff a bit more, is a FAR MORE deserving cause than Shamima.

She is a great example of what is wrong with Legal Aid in the UK. A Non citizen, or no legal right to be here, you get access to it no questions asked. Legally live in the UK, you have to jump through many hoops to get it, if at all.

However, some people on this thread are more than happy for endless public money to be be continually wasted on this shyster - Whilst having the bloody cheek to bemoan about the state of public services on the other hand.

At the end of the day, any money wasted on Shamima Begum, her legal fees, etc, etc, etc, is money that could be better spent on other things in society.
You're literally proving my point. We don't get to decide what tax payer money is spent on and what's important to you won't be important to me. The government aren't going to donate the millions they have saved on shamina to the NHS now are they.
Instead shamina will continue to fight this using more tax payer funds, whilst the Tories carry on with their populist action in the vain hope it will help them stay in power.
Shamina isn't intelligent enough to be a threat imo. She comes across as still being a 15 year old girl who hasn't got a clue what is going on.

Do I work for MI5? No, I'm an ordinary citizen but I'd like to think the government is capable of doing SOMETHING when they become aware of a potential terrorist 😂
Purely from a safeguarding point, authorities should have been more on the ball about 15 year olds catching flights without adult supervision. Add to that they were unaccompanied female Muslims traveling to a country adjacent to Daesh held territory and you have to wonder what on earth was going on at the border. Begum herself said they barely checked her passport at the airport.

Absolutely. It’s a disgraceful stance by UK to foist our problems onto other countries. They say she should/could get Bangladeshi citizenship. Why? That’s unfair to Bangladesh.

She’s a British citizen (or was) and she should be brought back here to be tried in UK courts and face justice for her crimes.
Well this is it isn’t it we’re quick to want foreign criminals out of our country because they’re not our problem, but the second one of our own citizens commits horrific crimes abroad they are also not our problem. Can’t have it both ways. She should face the consequences of her actions here like others before her. The system being ‘soft’ isn’t an excuse to wash our hands of the whole situation. It is an excuse however to put pressure on the government to make changes to the system so these people serve appropriate sentences.

She was certainly very Westernised in the programme the other night, several shirt buttons undone tight jeans she looks attractive and charismatic but a born manipulator in my opinion. The only positive thing I can come up with is that she, at 15 was young and naive, she saw ISIS as some romantic haven an Utopia she had been fed and then re invented in her imagination.
I really don't buy this at all. At 15 you can be charged with a crime and go to prison for it. So why are some still using her age as an excuse for her actions.

That really isn't an excuse at all.

If she had gone at 15, realised how horrific it was and that she’d made a mistake and wanted to come back, then it might have been different. What she’s actually done is shown zero regret about going, no remorse for what she has been involved in and instead just comes across like she’s had enough being there now and it should be her right to come back.

I also wonder if she’d want to come back if she was still living with her husband and not where she is now. I’d hazard a guess at probably not.
I agree with this 100%, I would rather she not come back either, of course, god knows how much the whole legal process/rehab or whatever they do for her will cost, which also makes me really angry. But I think it is unfair of us to push our problems onto other countries like this, it is unfair for Bangladesh to take have to take her

I initially felt "fuck her, she should never be allowed back". But after listening to a couple of solicitors talk about the case I realised that she should be brought back her to face UK justice. She is a citizen and she should be tried as such in our courts for her crimes. I don't think it's right to make another country take responsibility for her. The UK must take responsibility for the trial and punishment of its own criminals.

This is not about applying a soft touch to her, it's about the application of justice to UK citizens by UK courts.

LOL. I am speechless.
@Book As someone who has been critical of her on this thread, I find this offensive. My partner isn't british.... but has all of the same values we do. he is an EU national who works in th eNHS and this is exactly the type of abuse he has started to suffer since the brexit vote. What you have said is in no way what i would consider "british values", as I would consider those as tolerance and acceptance of other nationalities, and, in my view, this is what makes the UK great, hence that so many people want to live here. Regarding the NHS, how many employees do you think they would have without foreign nationals?

There are hundreds like her who have come back. She just happens to be the famous one.
And many of them who have done far worse than her (not that I condone running off to join Isis!) - there are men who actively fought for Isis who have returned, the only reason the government have made her stateless is as you say because she's the famous one due to the fact she was 15 and in a group of 3 when she left. The government have to be seen to make a stand.

I think technically she is our problem, she is British whether we want her to be or not, Bangladesh wouldn't have accepted her application I'm sure (although I think she should have made it, for appearance sake if nothing else), why would or should they take responsibility for her? I think I feel that she should be returned to British but to serve a prison sentence but then as said above how long would she be in prison for with all of the human rights people who seem to be supporting her? I wouldn't feel comfortable if she lived in my street but then how do I know that someone else who's done the same or holds the same views doesn't already live on my street? It's a mess.

It's one of the top threads on here now. So much vitriol, money and discussion about a young woman who hasn't committed a crime that we know of. Not so much about actual male terrorists...
Where is vitriol in my post? I am terrified of her! I think she is incredibly dangerous. People should be allowed to say that without being made to feel guilt when you consider what she's done. I do agree with those who believe she was groomed but it does not make her any less of a threat, I feel.

This is my thoughts, I’m sorry but yes I was immature at 15 but no way did I condone terrorism or murder! I do not buy the she use young as some sort of justification. She is a clever and calculated woman, she is a threat to the UK.
But…. Being immature at 15 is something we can all relate to. The fact that you didn’t do exactly the same thing as her isn’t the point, or course you didn’t. Young boys in the U.K. are groomed by gangs to commit violent crime at this age though, that’s a more similar comparison. We don’t expect a 15 year old boy to have the skills and tools to get away from being groomed by a drug gang- that’s victim blaming.

Joining and actively supporting a prohibited organisation. Sentence range between 10-14 years. Details here.

She can’t be tried under that if it’s only just been made law though can she? What she did was 7 years ago

I lean towards empathy. She was a child and was groomed most definitely BUT what really disturbs me is now that she’s a woman and has lost 3 children as a result of her lifestyle choices she still lacks any remorse or compassion. There is nothing there. Her eyes are cold and glassy. Surly. Rehearsed. Entitled. What she has witnessed and engaged in breaks a person to the very core, but she seems so unaffected… comfortable even.
And how many women have lost their kids due to terrorism that she was directly involved in not some innocent housewife the narrative she likes to paint.
I can't believe 87 people have voted yes... Fuck her she can rot over there

For me, in the UK the age for criminal responsibility it 11. Therefore she at 19 needs to take some responsibility for her actions and admit that the actions were wrong. The fact that she can sit there and say she thinks it’s ok to behead people just shows she has no remorse neither can she see any issue with her actions or her involvement in ISIS. Therefore why does she want to come back here? If she truly believes in it, then she should stay put. She comes across as a bored teenager, her husband is in jail so what’s left for her.

She appears to have had this view before being ‘groomed’ so let her stay out there why should we let her back here just because she was born here but has no respect for our values or other citizens.

I don't trust her at all like others have said, I have only seen clips of the interview, I found it very weird how she said "you have a problem with terrorism in your country" (referring to the UK) very weird, so she doesn't view herself as a part of britain? That said, legally we have to take her back, I just think she should be locked up

Won't be popular POV but to be blunt I wonder two things
  1. Was there actually a baby ?
  2. Is it actually dead or is it all a spin story
Sorry but I simply can't help but be cynical of any news coming out from there.

I've never understood why people want others to forgo their culture and assimilate completely into British culture when they come here. One of the nice things about living in the UK is that you can find shops on the high street that sell Chinese spices, or Indian spices etc. You can try the cuisine of almost every country in the world, experience different festivals etc. To me, that diversity is a strength. People focus on an individual who commits crimes, rather than the many who live peacefully by our side.

What even is "British" culture anyway? Christianity isn't a native religion. Fish and chips isn't originally a British thing. Our language is the result of invasion. Our main dish is Chicken tikka masala. We're now even adopting American consumerism culture in terms of Black Friday and Cyber Monday etc. I guess we have May Day and Morris dancing? But they're often shunned by most British people. I don't think British culture has ever really been that strong, it's a consequence of us being an island and having been invaded over the years. I guess Wales and Scotland have unique customs etc, although it's important to note sometimes the English tried to eradicate them (by banning the use of the Welsh language and removing its status, etc).

Immigration was welcomed by Britain initially. The 1948 British Nationality Act said that all Commonwealth citizens could have British passports and work in the UK. We lost so many men in the wars and we brought people over to help rebuild the country again. Seems like now things have come full circle and people resent them.

I do find most people who bemoan those who do not learn the language, do not share the same disdain for British people who holiday / retire to Spain without knowing any Spanish. They also often have poor command of their beloved English language.

I know I'm rambling. I just think people bemoaning immigration because it "destroys our culture" is the height of hypocrisy, considering how a) our culture is largely a mixture of those from invaders and more recently immigration, b) we welcomed immigration to get the country running again, c) the cultural genocide the British Empire was responsible for.
100% agree with all of this. Nothing made me more angry than retired british people living in Spain saying they had voted Brexit as there was too much immigration in the UK, it;s a total embarassment that people can be so stupid imo. And imagine our food culture without all of the outside influence!! I personally wouldn't want to go back to a time when olive oil was only sold in tiny bottles in chemist's like it was when my mum was a child

If she was allowed back she will be unemployable, let's face it who would want to employ her. Not only that she will be living in a house free of charge, getting loads of benefits.

She made her bed now lie in it, don't ever want to see her back in the UK again.
Too much money will be spent on her case, lock her up and throw away the key.

There is confirmation by ‘independent’ aid workers/medical staff that the baby died from pneumonia.
And do they confirm the baby is/ was actually hers by blood and not just one lent/ borrowed/ bartered from some other woman ?
Sorry (not sorry) but these people lie lie and lie all the time.

BIB: Oh, come off it. All the news reports stated that those three girls were 15/16 year old schoolgirls. This wasn’t hidden, it was in the headlines, it was one of the first things mentioned in articles about it and one of the first things mentioned on television and radio news reporting on it.
The news can say someones age and make them out to be/act older? They made her seem like she was completely aware of her actions and doing so of her own free will.

All you have to do is scroll through this thread and compare the language. Those who are pro making her stateless refer to her as a woman past and present. She was NOT a woman when she was groomed. She was a girl, I would argue she still bloody is a girl now, mentally.

I didn’t compare their crimes and actions, I was comparing her to someone who is “sent back to their own country” to serve their sentence, which is what I referred to in my original post. You’ve literally copied exactly what I said in saying we can’t compare her to a murderer or a rapist.

Why should she be sent back to the U.K. to serve time, for which the tax payer will pay hundreds of thousands of pounds a year to keep her ‘safe’. She chose to go out there, she wasn’t dragged by her ears. Her and her friends freely walked through the airport singing and dancing. Just because she’s got out of bed one morning and decided she doesn’t want to be a terrorist anymore isn’t good reason for my taxes to be paid for her.
Right I must have misunderstood your first point, my apologies.

But we'll agree to disagree on the latter point. It baffles me the UK public is fine with tax payers money being used to bomb countries in the middle east but when all these repercussions come out then its an issue when tax payers money may be needed to fix them. Radicalisation comes from those who feel like they have been wronged significantly. Daesh (previously rebels against Assad's regime) was FUNDED by the UK and USA using your tax payers money, they were given training and weapons by so many countries before they became Daesh. To keep a long story short: She was groomed in the UK, it is the UK's problem to fix not only how this occurred but also to make an example of her. It is not Syria's problem and it never was. The UK always getting involved in middle eastern affairs is the problem.
