"I used to work for Lambeth Council and recall one time when the Licensing Committee heard annual applications for local bars, clubs and theatres. There were just two applications that time. One from the Old Vic theatre and one from a notorious gay S&M dungeon bar.
"The clerk, seeing Kevin Spacey as an applicant in person, said: 'Ah, Mr Spacey. We'll hear from you first. Tell me. Which establishment are you representing?'"
"Everyone present, including the star, fell about laughing."
I was obsesssssssed with Children's Ward. So good.ITV was good. Dramarama. Children's Hospital. Press Gang. Orm and Cheep. Trapdoor. Sorry to rub it in.
Not aware of it in Scotland either!I was obsesssssssed with Children's Ward. So good.
I've heard of people not being allowed watch ITV, was this an English people quirk? In Ireland we were just glad of another channel. Frankly I'm embarrassed for any 80s child who's unable to recite the intro to Mallet's Mallet.
I’ve found it! Oh my. he’s a decent sized lad!Did you ever see his sex tape in the 2000s? All I remember is it involved a lot of hair in mouths and has put me off watching him in anything ever since.
Edit- Colin Farrell not MB
She looks like Sid out Ice Age!She's very ethereal looking. I used to think she was stunning in an unusual way but I think she's had buccal fat removal which does make her face look quite harsh.
Not in my parents case, labour voting and working class through and through. What they couldn't provide in financial capital they tried to provide in cultural capital as they naturally wanted more for me, thanks to their efforts I was the first in the family to go to UniversityThe not letting kids watch ITV is typical English performative class snobbery. I’d put money on these parents voting Tory as well
I grew up in Wales so maybe it's an English thing?!Not aware of it in Scotland either!
Nope both parents were working class labour supporters. The not letting kids watch ITV is typical English performative class snobbery. I’d put money on these parents voting Tory as well
Hypothetically speaking, how would someone go about finding this?I’ve found it! Oh my. he’s a decent sized lad!
Nope, in my case labour voting working class living on a council estate in a pit village. The not letting kids watch ITV is typical English performative class snobbery. I’d put money on these parents voting Tory as well
Foreign mother who grew up under Communist rule so not sure that hypothesis works. The not letting kids watch ITV is typical English performative class snobbery. I’d put money on these parents voting Tory as well
I was allowed to watch itv but I had a friend who wasn’t because on kids tv the adverts was all expensive toys etc and her mum couldn’t afford them so she made her watch bbc and I had to tell her about the itv shows or she’d watch it if she went to a friends house.I grew up in England and me and all my mates watched ITV. I have heard of this thing where the occasional person wasn’t allowed because bbc was thought to be the best though. Mad really.
I loved "Johnny Briggs" and "Bernard's watch".ITV was good. Dramarama. Children's Hospital. Press Gang. Orm and Cheep. Trapdoor. Sorry to rub it in.
I still say ‘I wish I had Bernard’s watch’ at least one a weekI loved "Johnny Briggs" and "Bernard's watch".
I’ve heard the reverse of this. My mum and her friends never watched Blue Peter as children because it was too posh and they couldn’t relate to it. When you look back it was very twee, plumby voiced Home Counties wasn’t it? I always thought it cringeworthy shit and used to get annoyed that Byker Grove wasn’t on instead.I was obsesssssssed with Children's Ward. So good.
