Just reminded me that I was in a restaurant in Camden with Justine and Damon at the next table. They were very intense.Elastica were very rated by the music press, from memory, and they stood out because they were female with a bit of a harder edge. Justine had a presence, I think, and there was the fallout with her leaving Brett Anderson for Damon Albarn.
ETA: Connection is still a fantastic track.
Ohhh this could be a good shout actually. Wasn't she on that iconic Vanity Fair britpop magazine cover in bed with Liam? What about Kensit?
This is awesome. Thanks for postingElastica were hugely hyped when they first came out- one of their first gigs had the likes of Debbie Harry etc watching.
Re Damon and Justine’s drug taking- Beetlebum is about heroin use.
There is a fab film of Blur in their Modern Life Is Rubbish era called Starshaped. there’s some hilarious bits in there of their drunken tomfoolery.
I saw that bit about them. They were shite lolLoving the brit pop chat. Ironically there's a brit pop doc on ch 5 tonight. Had totally forgotten about Menswear.
Was repulsed to see him on comic relief, especially in a talent show sketch...guess the bbz need/ant gangsta granny book 123David Furnish looks awful here. Wonder if Walliams was the third party in the marriage? Well known they are open …. gay men can never keep it in our pants
Braless Elizabeth Hurley, 57, heads to a birthday bash in Ibiza
The actress, 57, went braless beneath a plunging silver crushed crepe dress which was was belted at her svelte waist.www.dailymail.co.uk
This post with your avatar conjures up wonderful images of Agatha Christie type grande dames off their tits in the mosh pit screaming along to "They're Selling Jesus Again" !Lush, Skunk Anansie and Curve were/are superb.
Pulp are playing quite a few gigs over the summer. They’re doing Finsbury Park on 1st July, a week before Blur at Wembley. I’m seeing Ash, James, Pulp and Blur between April and July. Back to my teen years! It’s been 26 years since I saw Blur - last time was at Brixton Academy. Treated myself and my husband to golden circle standing tickets to make up for the years they played Hyde park and we couldn’t afford the tickets.Loving the britpop chat. I was a total Fred Perry wearing tomboy who loved Blur and Damon in particular more than life itself. couldn"t stand Justine from Elastica! Remember asking my dad for a tenner to join the blur fan clubstill pinching myself over getting tickets for blur at Wembley this summer, 24 years since I saw them headline Reading Festival.
Seen quite a few 90s indie bands in the last few years including the Charlatans, Supergrass (my 2nd favourite band of the time and still love them now) Sleeper, Starsailor, Ocean Colour Scene. Seeing Noel Gallagher in the summer too. Hoping Pulp tour as never seen them but know they've just lost Steve. The 90s will always be incomparable for music and the vibe. Oh to be 13 in 1994 again!
Also!Well in that case I should be dead I was 22 in 94
Dare I say, she looks her age & almost matronly.Blimey Liz Hurley looks VERY different when she can’t photoshop the press pics!
Apparently Tim Burgess and Sharon Horgan are an item, you know…I was always suss of Justine and then as I got older I read her dad is actually loaded which is why she could afford to be blase.
My favourite Britpop band (tho they would hate that label) was The Charlatans. Then I read Tim Burgess‘ book and truthfully, I got bored of the drug taking about 10 pages in. That book is a good few years old now and he’s lost a few of his pals recently in their 50s and I wonder if he’s considered that putting your body through what they did daily might have been less wise than he makes out in the book?
I stoped watching the pro version once Solomon took overFrank Grillo has and then some haha
---
I like her but she is really going to have to reign herself in.
Mind you I wasn't pleased with Stacey soloman doing the pro version and she turned out ok
The girl bands weren’t that popular when I was at schoolI remember at school, girls were either into Sleeper or Elastica. It seemed mandatory to take a side like Blur & Oasis.
I chose Elastica as 'Connection' was a banger and that inbetweener song was crap! (IMO obviously). I just loved Suede and Radiohead as I was a bit pretentious - hahaha
You’re welcome. The best bits are where Graham is pissed of or drunk! Actually it’s all fab. XThis is awesome. Thanks for posting
Last time I saw a photo of him a few years ago he looked like a strange overgrown toddler in dungarees and this blonde bob with a fringeApparently Tim Burgess and Sharon Horgan are an item, you know…
