Just reminded me that I was in a restaurant in Camden with Justine and Damon at the next table. They were very intense.

Loving the britpop chat. I was a total Fred Perry wearing tomboy who loved Blur and Damon in particular more than life itself. couldn"t stand Justine from Elastica! Remember asking my dad for a tenner to join the blur fan club still pinching myself over getting tickets for blur at Wembley this summer, 24 years since I saw them headline Reading Festival.

Seen quite a few 90s indie bands in the last few years including the Charlatans, Supergrass (my 2nd favourite band of the time and still love them now) Sleeper, Starsailor, Ocean Colour Scene. Seeing Noel Gallagher in the summer too. Hoping Pulp tour as never seen them but know they've just lost Steve. The 90s will always be incomparable for music and the vibe. Oh to be 13 in 1994 again!

Elastica were hugely hyped when they first came out- one of their first gigs had the likes of Debbie Harry etc watching.

Re Damon and Justine’s drug taking- Beetlebum is about heroin use.

There is a fab film of Blur in their Modern Life Is Rubbish era called Starshaped. there’s some hilarious bits in there of their drunken tomfoolery.

Loving the brit pop chat. Ironically there's a brit pop doc on ch 5 tonight. Had totally forgotten about Menswear.

Loving the Brit pop chat and made me wonder if anybody has any 90s grunge tea. The only weak tea I have is that I know someone who toured as a support act with pearl jam in 92 and their tour bus got held up by muggers in (I think?) Manchester and Eddie vedder tried to fight them off… As you would, lol. Always loved that scene, I miss rock music

In the late 1990s, Foo Fighters bassist Nate Mendel read a book titled "What If Everything You Thought You Knew About AIDS Was Wrong?" It was written by Christine Maggiore, the founder of the Alive and Well organization, which denies the link between HIV and AIDS. Mendel was deeply inspired by this book and convinced the rest of the band to support Maggiore's fringe organization. In January 2000, Foo Fighters held a benefit concert for them and even added the following statement to their website: "The current thinking on AIDS is in serious need of reconsideration."

This caused a huge backlash from fans and specialists alike, and they were urged to reconsider their allegiance. Mendel continued to speak out, but the evidence was overwhelming, and the band eventually decided to cut ties with Alive and Well. Sadly Maggiore's 3-year-old daughter died from AIDS-related pneumonia, then Maggiore, still refusing treatment, died of the same cause.

The Foo Fighters members have never spoken publicly about their grave mistake, but Dave Grohl's support of Elton John's AIDS Foundation.

Pulp are playing quite a few gigs over the summer. They’re doing Finsbury Park on 1st July, a week before Blur at Wembley. I’m seeing Ash, James, Pulp and Blur between April and July. Back to my teen years! It’s been 26 years since I saw Blur - last time was at Brixton Academy. Treated myself and my husband to golden circle standing tickets to make up for the years they played Hyde park and we couldn’t afford the tickets.

I didn’t know we had to choose between Elastica and Sleeper - I liked both! I got the Louise Wener haircut but without the blonde bits in the fringe. Also loved Kenickie.

I loved Blur, Damon in particular.
Now I think he's a complete bellend.

Looking back, he was so rude. I recently rewatched him being interviewed by Chris Evans on TFI around the time that morning glory was doing much better than their album and was tipped to win the Brits. Chris is visibly uncomfortable during the whole thing. I think Damon was largely disliked by everyone, including his own bandmates.

The girl bands weren’t that popular when I was at school
I was into pulp but loved oasis and blur too. Radiohead were cool at the time
