Is anyone else loving how much Gary Lineker is making the gammons foam at the mouth, and loving the fact he’s refusing to apologise for it?

Back in the mid 1970s I worked with David Bowie’s uncle. My teenaged self was obsessed with Bowie so I tried to get as much info out of the uncle as I could!! He was very disparaging of him and said he hardly bothered to visit his family now he’d found fame. But he did bring in old family photos and we would all gather round and I’d swoon at old pics of my idol in his teenage years!! 😂😂

Oh right, I'm Irish and I actually find all of what u just said quite offensive as any Irish bar iv been in certainly check id
Oh come on, you asked why she’d be in an Irish bar if she’s not Irish and I said they don’t check your passport - very clearly meaning they don’t validate that you’re Irish before you’re allowed to set foot in the establishment 🙄

I can’t stand Linekar but I’m with him here. What he said is irrelevant it’s the heavy handed overreaction which confirms to me my long held view that the Beeb are right wing scum. When people are losing jobs for a comment against the government the UK is turning into 1984.

Good thing Stephen Bear has been getting in plenty of practice with the anal destroyer 3000 before his trip to jail.

I don't like G de C but he did give the stuff back - Paul Young said: "I don't hold it against him. He said it was bad and he apologised, and I did get most of the stuff back. "
To be fair Paul Young's home was wherever he lay his hat so it's not surprising he got his stuff nicked.

I wouldn't say JK Rowling has been cancelled at all. She is still massively successful with other projects and on the whole has the public support. She also isn't hiding away, quite the opposite. It's just a very loud and angry minority that are trying to cancel her.

Another Potter actor, Evanna Lynch, has come out and supported her.

I think an important part of the Lineker issue for me is that the BBC seem happy for him to express certain political opinions- just not those that criticise the current government.
There didn’t appear to be an issue with Lineker expressing ( absolutely right ) condemnation of the Qatari regime when he was presenting the World Cup for the BBC.
So free speech is fine - as long as it toes the ( Tory ) party line. Lovely impartial BBC eh? 🙄

Frank Skinner goes on about alan sex too. I watched a stand up tv performance he gave where thats all he talked about. I stopped watching, it got boring.
Baddiel and Skinner both seemed obsessed with it. Also sitting together on their sofa watching porn masturbating when they flatshared.
They both seem quite unpleasant and grotty.

Pulp fans will be sad to hear Steve Mackey died. I know he'd been sick quite some time but it's still upsetting. I know his wife to see and chat to in passing as I used to live near them and would have crossed paths with her in work going a few years back. My heart hurts for her and their son.

believe me, you’re preaching to the choir here 🤣

has a famous man ever been successfully “cancelled”?! i mean, i’ll wait. the only one who faced some degree of career consequences to actions in recent years was will smith!
Justin Lee Collins was definitely cancelled. (I know he wasn’t major A list but was well known for a while)
He’s the only person I can think of

By and large, I feel if you don’t want to be compared to language used in 1930s Germany, the thing to do is not use the language of 1930s Germany.

That’s probably simpler than saying it, getting narked at an England legend (who has the cheek to working class in origin, rich and not a Tory), texting your mate you installed at the BBC, making subtle threats about their funding model until they agree to silence the upstart oik and then causing way more of an issue than there ever was.

Im assuming this is all the “fault” of her mother and her shameless, fame-whoring wanker of a father ( who I believe has custody) was powerless to stop her. 🙄
According to that article, Andre is the one organising it. He's had "creepy stage parent" written all over him for years. He's already had Junior in a recording studio trying to live his music superstar fantasies through him.

Also it describes it as a "four figure deal" which honestly makes it sound kind of pathetic.

Namely James Acaster. Any goss? Obviously apart from the fact he was dumped for Mr. Bean. He's my favourite 'celeb' ever - second only to James Milner who I KNOW will have no shit about him
I have some tea about James Acaster. Or more specifically, his former therapist. If you’ve seen his show Cold Lasagne Hate Myself 1999 you’ll know he has a pretty insane bit about how he started talking to a counselor in 2017 after his breakup with Rose Matafeo caused him to have a mental breakdown. The therapy sessions started off well but over time the therapist became more and more unprofessional with him, culminating in him trying to quit therapy with her and her responding that her son is a big fan of his and they should all go see a show and have ice cream together as a goodbye. Just really weird and inappropriate behaviour that ended up messing him up pretty badly during a difficult time in his life where it was the last thing he needed.

So the tea I have on this situation is that this therapist was named Cordelia Bradby, she used to work in Notting Hill and helped counsel a lot of survivors of the Grenfell tragedy, and she is now dead. She died Feb 2020 and her obituary says she died “(suddenly) at home” which is almost always code for overdose/suicide. It happened a couple of months after he filmed the routine about her.

I only mention it because a clip of the routine was doing the rounds recently and I saw a lot of comments about how she should be reported, not be allowed to practice etc, to which I would always think “well, do you want the good news or the bad news?”
