My husband reallyyy wants to move there but I have no desire, I have read that people are treated differently depending on their ethnicity and I’m just not about that.

My friend (white British fairly lapsed CofE) and her husband (Pakistani Muslim, born there, but living here for about 20 years) went to visit his family in Pakistan for a couple of weeks and combined it with a week in Dubai on the way back.
She said they didn't encounter any negative comments in Pakistan but Dubai was an entirely different matter.
Both of them have said they'd never go back.

I’ve lived in Dubai. Just because you’re an expat doesn’t mean that you live in a ‘bubble’. It’s a big city, you can live a relatively normal life without using escorts on a regular basis

So have I, my boyfriend is still there. You do see a lot of escorts around though.

I’ve lived there and my boyfriend is still there, and whilst it’s quite a good way of life. Women are 100% treated differently to men. And being white and western is a huge plus on the whole.

We had a great time there and it served us well in that we were able to save some money to bring home with us. Don’t get sucked into the ‘Dubai Dream’. The streets aren’t paved with gold. It’s a great place if you’re working for a decent company with a decent package but it can also be a hard place if you don’t do your research before packing up and moving there.

I didn’t tend to frequent the places that these Z list ‘celebs’ do, I would rather gouge my eyes out with a fork They’re generally full of the same type of people (idiots). Does make me laugh reading their posts about Dubai, they all go to the same place. What’s the point, they might as well just see each other at home

I am / was a HUGE fan. I still love the smiths but even they are tainted by his vile nonsense. I know it’s been around forever but it’s become far more potent and shameless recently. He’s got a bit of a trump vibe in that he’ll say something both racist and idiotic to a journalist, have it published verbatim and in the backlash he will claim the media is out to get him and twist his words.
One of the stupidest things he’s said that comes to mind is his supposed reason for supporting this obscure far right party id literally never heard of- ‘for Britain’ I think ? Anyway , think of all the lovely types too islamaphobic for UKIP- that’s their vibe. So Morrissey claims he supports them because they are opposed to halal (but not eating meat in general ...) it’s not a racist position it’s an animal rights one. Ok sure.

I saw Sam Thompson in Westfield 5 guys last year. My mum is a mic fan so was smiling and looking at him. He just smiled at us and I am mouthed sorry, he just smiled back.

My husband has done some work for two members of the muse(in their houses) one was really friendly and another was rude and wouldn't talk to them he had his assistant so all the talking to them.

My mum worked with Tom Daley's mum, he came into her work a few times when he won his gold medals. My mum said he's nice enough but his mum is very snobby, looks down on everybody and will tell everybody she meets who her son is (proud mum I guess).

Dubai is such a strange place. I have family members who live there and they seem to live in a bubble with other expats.

The ex pats that I know are really changed when they come back from Dubai, not in a good way.

I used to clean motel units on the weekends in my youth (whilst still at secondary school). It was a common thing to find people had pulled out every single plate, pot, pan and cup out of the cupboard and poured tomato sauce (or similar) over everything just out of spite, or defecated in the shower to make some sort of point (or rubbed it in the carpet). Most rooms would need to be cleaned within 20 minutes max, but when we had those sorts of situations they'd take just about all morning to put right, and with a couple of cleaners assigned to it. People are just vile. Of course, you'd also get the people who left things immaculate but they were, sadly, a minority.

The thing is we are judging Dubai and UAE too harshly, that stuff goes on in the UK, but the girls don't get paid as much, remember the Debbie Mcgee and dog story.

As for the porta potty stuff, just look (or don't as its disgusting), at all the scat stuff on the net. I know it seems like easy money, but still, just thinking about it makes me feel sick. It makes me think, there must be gay men there so do they get guys doing the potty stuff, and wanking/sucking off various animals.

My husband has been offered jobs there a few times. We would go. Like previous posters said you can have a normalish life. But the packages aren’t what they used to be. So the money’s not really there. And there are certain jobs you can’t get because of ethnicity. It’s very racist. He’s white so would have better chances that applicants from Asia etc.

Not a hope that I’d go there. But they’re trying to refresh their image. Did anyone see that tit show of a festival they put on? Invited all the influencer crowd. All the VS models in the world can’t detract from appealing human rights records.

Same at the holiday park I worked at for over 20 years. We even had tit in drawers. One chalet took two of us 6 hours to clean.
