If the Jury did not know about the violent history they did well to convict Murder imo - they have seen straight through him!

I've a feeling it was a case of not what he said but how he said it, they must have picked up something in his body language or emotions (lack of).

I read an article today which said that the mum had nipped him with a pair of tongs and he’d gone ‘ouch’ and Scarlett had called him a wimp. So I can believe that sparked a flash of male fragility rage.

"What the jury did not hear was that Vickers was convicted of wounding with intent and sentenced to two years’ detention in 1993 when he was aged 19.
He has six previous convictions in total'

Was that deliberately held back from the jury to avoid prejudice?

He only seems distressed at the situation because it was an inconvenience to him.

They have quoted the pathologist words verbatim in the Mirror. I can’t link but it’s pretty damning and I can now see why the jury managed to convict murder. Reading between the lines I’m guessing there’s been arguing/fighting in the kitchen when he was trashed. He’s gone to attack the wife and Scarlett has got involved, maybe given him a piece of her mind and he’s stabbed her. Or it did start as horseplay and she has said something he didn’t like and he’s just lost it. The footage of him at the police station pretending he doesn’t understand what happened and whining about his holiday is sickening and I bet the officers could smell the lies coming off him as well as the drink fumes.

That we know of. A woman experiences an average of 35-50 episodes of violence before she reports it.
They may have just lived with the threat of it.
As soon as I heard his wife was defending him, I wondered that myself. It's the only way I can get my head around her mother still defending him and saying he would never harm her, even with all that was found out in court. Jesus, at one point he even tried to deny the knife had been in his hand but she still claims it was an accident, even after the news about his earlier violence came out.

His behaviour in the footage is bizarre, the jury will have seen the larger picture. The way he’s behaved etc, as someone said previously you’d be absolutely distraught, hyperventilating, genuinely in shock etc.

Also the fact he didn’t react when the guilty verdict was read out.
I’m pretty sure if I was found guilty of a murder I knew I hadn’t committed (especially of my child!) I would have been wailing and ranting in the dock.

He's been sentenced to 15 years minimum. Doesn't seem like much, he will be 75 when he can apply for parole. He needs to admit to what he did.

Isn't he only 50? So he'll be 65.
What a joke of a sentence.

He gets 15 years yet poor Scarlett had only lived for 14 years - robbed of a lifetime. bleep has shown zero remorse too. Hope that there's an appeal and his sentence reflects the seriousness of the crime - murdering your own child in cold blood and doing everything possible to get away with it.
