The defendant claimed the initial plan was for Batool to go to her relatives in Luton so he could call police and say Sara died in his care.

Batool made 30 calls to members of her family but they did not help because they were “scared”, he said.

Not one of these family members thought to report what had happened? If they were scared then they must've known details. He's definitely trying to pin all the blame on her..

I must have missed this part, has it been reported?

(Also, I think you mean they are disabled)
Yes I read it somewhere that the grandfather had disputed the children being kept in a care home in pakistan due to the 2 girls having special needs. Which I take to mean some sort of disability, unsure as to what the disability is, but I've seen a picture of Sara with the 2 girls and one of the girls does have characteristics of some kind of disability.

Thanks for the links to the more detailed reporting. I am not buying his claims, but I am leaning towards BB being heavily involved. I don’t buy for one minute that he wasn’t aware of his daughter’s injuries. Did he not spend anytime at all with her? Did he not see her wince in pain from all those broken bones over several months? Did she not try and tell her dad what had happened if BB was beating her? I think maybe the Uncle not directly involved but certainly was aware. Will reserve my opinion on him until we hear more evidence against him / hear what his defence say. I am really struggling with this trial, it’s absolutely horrific what this poor girl went through.

So many thoughts after today's court

I'll start straight off with that I think he's telling the truth, I'll get into why further on.

Surely us will be able to back up his claims that he was at work the whole day, his phone records must reveal that she called him when he said she did, plus maybe his workplace can verify it?
There are so many different reports in different publications with added details, she gave him 3 versions of events, one that she fell down the stairs, one that she was punched and kicked by another child only after he had questioned her on marks he had seen on her body after trying to and eventually being stopped from giving the customary shower a muslim receives after dying, he said he seen the marks, and thought no way could a child have inflicted them, so he went to Pakistan with her after knowing that fact.
Her family are literally the rum of the earth, they knew she was dead and not one decided to do the decent thing a report it. They should be in the dock with them.
Us says faisal also checked for a pulse, I wonder at what point he made an appearance.
Did us not think to ASK the kid who was accused if they had done it?!?
I think BB had both of those men firmly under her control, you cannot underestimate if u aren't from or know the culture, the sheer power that comes from being born and brought up in the UK. That would have been a power imbalance in their relationship from the very start, she was the one who googled to show him the difference between manslaughter and murder, she was the one who told him the sibling would go to jail.
I am in no way trying to paint US as some kind of Saint who knew nothing, he must have known something was going on, I do beleive him however when he says he didn't know the half of it. I think BB had an intense jealousy and dislike for Sara. I think that she completely got so carried away with her abuse she forgot this was an actual person who could die, she probably was shocked into reality when it actually happened. I hope she never has a days peace in her life again. She wanted to blame the uncle as he has "no responsibilies" I think she was clever enough to clean her prints off the belt and the bat and ask them to put them in the shed knowing it would incriminate them. She is one cunning witch.

I think the uncle will know a lot. He was working but probably not out of the house as much as US. The problem is, if he blames BB it will seem as though he’s supporting his brother.

I wonder why he flew back with them and didn’t just stay in Pakistan. He hadn’t lived in the UK for very long.

I’ve been quietly lurking since this began but I think I agree with you. I believe him.. on all but one point. He says he slapped her “because she made me”. I think he slapped her because that’s how he disciplined his children. I believe he used the belt as well and potentially the bat.
My gut instance is that he was using physical punishment (which is totally unacceptable) but he had no idea or turned a blind eye to the evil tirade of abuse that his wife was inflicting on Sara.
Where the brother sits in all this I have no idea. An awful awful case… I haven’t stopped thinking about her or the other children who are left behind to live their lives with the knowledge of this/ affects of any abuse they themselves may have suffered

I don't believe he wasn't as bad as BB. You couldn't be unaware that your child was in that much pain when you live in the same house. This is his defence, he's not been cross examined yet, his barrister is attempting to convince the jury that he's not guilty

There were three adults and six children in a small and cramped three-bedroom house. Everybody living in that house would have heard Sara’s screams, and what was happening to her.

I believe Urfan knew exactly what was going on, and I believe he participated in abusing Sara too. His attempts to portray Batool as the sole abuser and himself as innocent are laughable.

The barrister is doing the job he has to do.
No more, no less.
Everyone is entitled to a fair trial.
But why do I feel he is allowing US to say what he wants and not steering him on a different direction

Do we know how long the trial is expected to last? Or whether the other two are expected to take the stand?

The neighbours heard and could see that Sara was being abused but he couldn't?

Also, he said that Sara was doing the dishes on the day she died, that just isn't believable, the poor little darling wouldn't have been able to stand

I think I read mid December for the trial to finish. It depends on how long the cross examination takes for them to move onto question someone else.

He probably went with them as he was dependent on them.

There must be multiple charges against all three? Are there neglect charges as well? Could take the jury a wee while to deliberate on all the charges and all the accused.

I think what it comes down to is that we have to ask ourselves this:
If we were out of the house all day and our partner was the main care giver, is it feasible that we could come home in the evening and not know our child had been beaten and abused to the extent that Sara had been I say that is absolutely not feasible. I would know if my child had a headache never mind open sores from burns and broken bones and covered in bruises. The entire thing is a fabrication and I hope all 3 rot in jail.

Each charged with murder, and causing or allowing the death of a child.
I suspect they are all involved but there is some truth in BB manipulating US.

To be fair to BB’s family, it sounded like she said some tit had gone down with US and could she and the kids come and stay for a bit, the family were scared and wouldn’t help. I don’t know that she told them exactly about Sara dying, and they all think US is a violent head anyway, they probably didn’t want him turning up and beating them.

Exactly, you can't live in a normal sized family home with a child and not know that they are that badly injured, that they are not acting like a well adjusted child who isn't going through a pretty massive level of abuse. My kid had a badly sprained ankle for a week or so from sports and it was the main topic of conversation, how he was walking, how it looked, each day.

All 3 are absolute rum bags, for what they did and allowed to happen to Sara, and also for the lies afterwards. Just tell the bleeping truth and accept responsibility for your part in the horrific murder of a little girl that you're supposed to love/have taken responsibility for.
