I get that some people don’t want to marry, it’s everyone’s choice but Sam really really does and BBP knows it. I do feel sorry for her but at the same time she has made the choice to stay with him. Really nothing is a commitment, people walk away from kids, marriage, mortgages, shared business etc all the time. But marriage is important in some circumstances. While I think Sam wants marriage for the 'big day', in her position I would want to be married. Specifically because of his mum which is actually probably one of the reasons he won't do it.

If I were her, I’d simply stop mentioning it or hinting about it to save face. I’d been with my now husband (but then boyfriend) for 4 years when we were at a New Year’s Eve party and people were talking about marriage and why weren’t we engaged etc. I said outright “I want to be married but Steve hasn’t asked me”. We’d spoken about it numerous times and he was clearly very uncomfortable that other people were commenting. Two days later, we were shopping and he pulled me into the jewellers and the rest is history.
But honestly? If he hadn’t done that, we wouldn’t be together now. You don’t expect wifely duties from a girlfriend. You need to upgrade! Bin bag him Sam. Know your worth girl
