Cripes just been for a nozz at the latest blog posts. The Easter highlights have several really poorly composed shots. Then the Amsterdam trip has this awkward duo. Ubiquitous 'straw bag and stares wistfully into middle distance shots' and 'pale pink fingernails holding ice cream against Wall shots' and 'wide apart feet, bump and a bit of floral frippery at the top of shot shots' 😴 but two of the most awkward pictures too. Has she trod in a dog mess in the second one?
Sorry RVH you really need to freshen up your photo ideas.

Her feed is so ‘samey’. It’s boring. All the same poses just in different places

For me, this completely sums up the issue with her shadiness around advertisting. This morning she's actually attempted to declare what was a paid advert and what was gifted (she usually doesn't bother at all). She's still not marked it as an ad even though she was gifted and actually paid for some of the items she's still not been clear what exactly was gifted.

I watched the bedroom makerover, I read the Instagram posts and the blog posts. I remember thinking there's some pretty pricey peices in there, absolutely no mention of an ad or a gift anywhere.

Now it turns out half the damn room was gifted or even from paid jobs.

Below is a post from a few months ago about the room, absolutely no mention of ad or gifted anywhere. Her blog literally says 'we got these light' and 'hello headboard of dreams. We went for the velvet' but nothing to imply she didn't buy it all. Now it turns out half the room was a freebie, just like her nursery.

Do not try and create the illusion of a high end makeover when you are trying to hide the fact that most of it was sent to you for free! When asked, she literally said on Instagram she got her sheets from the white company. No, it seems they were sent to you ask part of a PAID job!

It's so bloody sneaky. May contain some gifted stuff you just have to guess how much was gifted and what - that is just not even close to enough I'm afraid.

You are happy to accept the paid jobs and the free stuff. Then you have to be happy to be clear and transparent about it. It's literally your job.

You are advertising. I don't care as long as I can see quite clearly every time the differences between adverts and reality. I don't stop reading magazines because by they contain adverts - but I can make a fully informed decision to take those pages with a pinch of salt. You are not being clear and removing people's ability to see the difference.

I suspect Rebecca would argue that she did disclose it, there is a short vague sentence at the end of the blog post saying there are some gifted items (but the post isn’t sponsored 🤦‍♀️)

But you have to wade down through all the photos on the blog to get to the disclosure and there are a LOT of photos. I stopped counting at 50 and there were lots more. I’d be surprised if many people read to the end of the blog posts.

She did disclose the headboard was gifted in a later post but you’d have to be on the ball to spot it and who knows whether the asterix was there when the post went up? I wasn’t following her then so I don’t know.

She’d probably argue she’s disclosed it, but I agree from a consumer perspective it’s unlikely it was obvious - you are clearly unsure, I was too until I did some rooting around. Does it meet the CMA requirements? Hmm I’m not sure it does.

The headboard was gifted, I think the lights were (she has definitely worked with Cox and Cox), the paint may be (she has worked with B&Q on a paid advert for F&B paint before), the bedding was a paid for advert with White Company, not sure about the Swoon bedside tables (I know they do gift influencers, so maybe). We shouldn't really have to guess or try to piece it all together should we?

I completely agree. If I can't clearly figure out what is an ad/paid/gifted from a post containing those items then surely it's not being done right.

You've done a lot of digging and still don't seem sure which items were gifts/paid adds, even when looking through multiple posts and over Instagram and her blog, actively trying to figure out what's gifted. In reality that's not how her matirtial is consumed, it's seen in passing while scrolling through Instagram.

If I've read a blog post and came away with the impression that she bought a bunch of stuff that she was sent for free, that isn't right either.

If is not the consumers job to have to go searching and fit the peices together.

Absolutely agree with this, which is why the disclosure has to be very transparent, the CMA want consumers to know it is an ad before they proceed with reading, they shouldn't have to get to the end of a blog or a grid post to suddenly realise it was a promotion. That's how people feel duped.

Ever since someone here mentioned about how awkwardly she stands, I just can't stop seeing it! What is she doing!

She's walking around like she needs a tit all the time.

She’s done it for years. It’s been the source of much hilarity for me 🤣

Well do let us know what the ASA say when you report all of this to them. I completely agree that this latest blurb that's being used "some items in this photo have been gifted" just doesn't cut it and we as consumers are not supposed to be piecing it all together from what's been previously posted to figure out what was a free gift, what was a paid partnership etc.

I agree re: the awkward stance, but also the bump-holding is weird too. Is she trying to accentuate it? Is she worried it’s not big enough or that people will just think she’s large? It’s so odd!

She's looking forward to a Bank Holiday Monday. Isn't every Monday a Bank Holiday for her?

Women like her spend their entire lives going on about how busy they are, it does my head in. They have literally no idea how working out of the home 10-12 hours a day has a massive impact on your life. How can it be that hard to understand that busy is not laying in bed to 8am on a Monday, nipping to garden centre mid morning, afternoon walks every day with your husband and putting up pictures?!
