It's funny how this thread has seen the most activity it has in ages. It goes to show that Ruth's website has become extremely stale and how she is the least offensive of all the influencers
Moving house is the most interesting thing Ruth’s done in years

I remember her getting the carpets, she name dropped the company and said they'd used her home for promotional shots in a brochure or something, so probably gifted. The carpets were exquisite and I'm not a fan of carpet.
I'm pretty sure most of the furniture was acquired the same way. None of these influencers pay for anything and at the very least get huge discounts.
I'd say the extension was super pricey because of the size of glass used but again probably heavily discounted for a plug.
She really loves mid century modern, I think it worked in the last property, quite edgy but I can't imagine buying a mid century modern property and kitting it out in the same style, it'll be like living in a set from Mad Men.
Brinton carpets iirc without checking her IG. I looked at them when we were looking at new carpet . As you say, really really beautiful but ££££ per square metre ( £80 I think).

I don’t think she mentioned who fitted the glass because it was about a 4 month wait to get it in and she was getting very very irate, correct me if I’m wrong .

I think you might be right about the wait, it wasn't bog standard sizing or glazing either, so yip Ruth had to wait like the rest of us. The carpets were seriously lux and came with a hefty price, personally I'd have gone with wooden floors and big rugs.

Yes, I can't actually remember why I unfollowed her as I actually really like her as a person. I think her feed just really bored me, and she did go on a bit.

I think the house being so cold would be even worse with wooden floors. The carpets were gifted so saved them a fortune.

Brintons is the carpet! The butterfly one is called Timorous Beasties and it’s beautiful. I saw it in a cottage we stayed at in the Lakes a few years ago and it’s been on my wish list ever since. Then Ruth (as much as I like her) gets it gifted for virtually the whole house🙄

It’s so very jarring that already very well off people get cheaper or even free items just for photography and mentioning the company on sm.

Abso-bleeping-lutely! It really does my nut. I get it - it’s advertising but wtf. Especially when it’s high end stuff that normal folk aspire to and save for. Then some insta-idiot gets it given to them for nowt but 24 hours on a story. I saw someone today receive 3 beautiful hats for an ad - do they have 3 heads??? Honestly. Pisses me right off.

I think, on the whole, Ruth is the best of a bad bunch when it comes to IG gifting despite her pique which sparked this thread, I find her easy to watch and she seems genuinely nice.

The Brinton carpet advertising really wound me up😁😁, she must have approached them to talk about her fabulous house and what deal could be reached etc in order to get the lovely ,lovely ,lovely carpet.

Yes, I was a little peeved.

Yes, defo😂 I’m a Ruth fan too, I only came to the thread to have a nose. I like her quirkiness and dizziness, she can come across normal despite the big house. She’s not like some of the models/bloggers out there dripping with Chanel and fancy dressing rooms - in fact I was surprised at how modest her dress choices were for her 40th! There are definitely some bad ones out there, who all they do is be gifted designer item one after another.

I'm now heavily invested in Ruth's channel again.
Anyone else?

Yes, she's not that into her clothes is she. Probably because she's been a model and is over it.
Have to say I do like her, just been a bit bored by her these last few years, my kids are up and the baby stuff doesn't interest me.

I have no problem with Ruth as a person, she seems pleasant enough. I followed her for about 8 or 9 years, but just got bored. I used to love her makeup reviews but she doesn't do much like that now.

I know she was annoyed and complained about all the ad disclosure rules when the increased standards came in, but I do like that she has always clearly tagged if things are gifted, discounted or she’s worked with a brand in the past. She’s far better at doing it than most influencers.

Really hoping she shares a bit of her new house. Feels like all I do at the moment is search for future homes on property websites to would love to vicariously live through her change of scenery!

It’s a funny one because you can hire your house out for companies to photograph their products & use in their marketing/website. I’d guess Ruth had it on a property site because why wouldn’t you if you lived in such a gorgeous period property.

If the carpet company wanted to pay to hire the property they might have done a deal to forgo the house hire fee for the cost of the carpet, they would have to cut & fit them to stage them in the house so quite sensible to leave them. Win win all round.

Of course.

I wanted Brinton in my house , I’m just miffed.

I’m pretty sure that the move maybe due to the development of the neighbouring field.
It seems that shortly after they moved in the neighbour up a big weird barn, followed by another. This is directly behind the glass room, they planted a large evergreen bush and always take the photos from the same angle to conceal it.

The neighbours then applied for an agricultural workers dwelling, which they aren’t too happy
about:

As the closest neighbours to the proposed development, we must strongly object.

1) This is a green field site with nearby protected dwellings (our own is Grade II listed) and the proposed workers dwelling appears to be excessive in size, both for its intended function and for the location, which is both outside of the village's development zone and on a sensitive site. No consideration seems to have been taken for impact on either the character of the area or the setting of the listed building. We would add that the proposed land for development is far, far higher than Whatley Combe House and so any buildings would dominate no matter what the height of the roofline.

2) It is difficult to see the need for a workers dwelling when the main farm, at which most of the applicant's land is held, is so close by - at the top of the village - and there are properties for sale that are more financially attainable than the cost of the proposed build.

3) We are deeply concerned that with each approved development on this site there is progressive harm, both to nearby dwellings and in particular the setting of Whatley Combe House. I would argue that the setting of and view from this house is part of its character and importance as a Grade II listed country house and already there has been a barn erected under permitted development that is less than 70 metres from the curtilage as well as a livestock building that is approximately 100 m from the curtilage. Further development poses a serious issue as it will push farm workings and associated machinery/debris further to the boundary, and we ask that you give consideration to paragraph 193 of the National Planning Policy Framework.

4) Overall, we feel that outline planning is highly inappropriate for a proposal that involves such a sensitive and previously undeveloped site. On a further note, no objections were made by neighbours to the original barn because it was assured to be simply for the overwintering of cattle, as laid out in the original application. However it now appears that this was the first stage in a wider strategy to build a (large) residential property at Lower Whatley, one for which there does not seem to be sufficient financial viability or sufficient need, considering the scale and proximity of Manor Farm.
