Does anyone know what happened to the podcast Ruby was doing with Jack, Jade and Eve? Have any of them ever addressed the fact they don't seem to be doing it anymore? Ruby seems quite close with Jade but I'm not convinced Jack and Eve would have much to do with her if it wasn't for the fact they are all with the same management. As in, they would never have been friends if they had met at university outside of YouTube... just a vibe I get.

Who would like working in the cold?? Sitting by an open window on a late-October UK evening is such a no for me lmao. Maybe it just helps her replicate the feeling of being a Victorian child using her quill by candlelight with a constant draft coming in.
She's probably living her Sara Crewe fantasies, imagining she's in a freezing attic somewhere in Miss Minchin's school. 😁

ok, thank you for the explanation! that makes sense now.

wow, that seems really unfair to judge individual students based on whole school average grades. i’d be devastated if i knew i should have gotten A or A* but was significantly leveled down.

universities should really not rescind places from students imo
Luckily some Oxford colleges have said they'll accept people regardless of their official grades, and I suspect we'll see similar at other unis across the country.

Generically long hair can work for anyone, I think it's more about how you style it - and wearing it down and entirely natural is a very 'childish' look especially in combination with her outfit choices. She's baby-faced but plays up to that with how she presents herself. I have a baby face too but because I want to be taken seriously at my Proper Adult Job, I choose hairstyles/outfits/glasses that emphasise I want to be taken seriously and treated like an adult. I'm not sure Ruby will be going into the corporate world but I can't imagine it would work with the way she is currently.

If you were Ruby's friend and were styling her for a Corporate Internship, what would you do?

is it just me wondering why she hasn't moved back to uni yet as most student housing leases start at the beginning of July
Mine didn’t, we had to pay half rent for July and August and then could move into our house in September, most of the other unis I’ve seen/been too are the same so this might be the case or she’s saving more money by being at home?

I’m worried about her. The excessive exercise and tiny portion sizes aren’t a great combination, I hope she’s ok.

Has she said how her course is taking shape this year anyway? It's possible she has no classes in person-the course I'm supposed to be taking is online all year.

I don’t get why she went home if that’s what she wanted to do... student houses are freezing! Plus bugs and stuff come into your room 😂

Thanks tsuyu for linking her mums blog. Her dad must work in the City to fund the lavish surroundings... how very neo-liberal!

Wow that’s weird I’ve never heard of 30 credit modules at any uni. But she does seem to be doing excessive work for each class - at most then she might have 2 lectures and 2 seminars a week, the amount of studying she does looks like it’s for a lot more
At my uni (Leicester) we have 30 credit modules and we were told that meant we had to do 300 hours of studying for that module (150 hours for 15 credit modules) not including lectures, seminars etc. I won’t lie, there’s no way I did that much and I still got 2:1s, and I’m sure most people wouldn’t do that much either and still do well! Maybe Ruby’s taking similar advice a bit too literally?

So she says aca-day-mia but doesn’t say aca-day-mic?

academic- aca-day-mia
academia- aca-day-mic

She says aca-dem-ic. Why I care I don’t know 😂

I read an excerpt from her Erimelda(?) book, OK I guess, though the superfluous language was a little jarring and I think the behaviours of her protagonist come across as rigid and pretentious... didn’t exactly warm to her and I imagine wouldn’t feel much sympathy for her/relate as the book progressed.

Why is she doing what looks like chemistry?? She’s an English student and I swear she didn’t even do chemistry A-level. Is she so obsessed with studying that’s she giving herself even more work??

Edit: I’ve just been told that Ruby did chemistry a-level so it’s probably a-level video!

Well she is privileged in the sense she has the option to go home but I don’t think it’s in a ‘check your privilege’ type fashion, however I can understand that students that are stuck and cannot leave but wanting to will feel crappy.

I would like her to address being paid for sharing the hands face space ad she did, I think personally for me that’s pretty disgraceful to take money from the govt and struggling NHS to reiterate something we already see advertised everywhere. That is privilege, she absolutely does not *need* the money, anyone can see she is quite affluent, perhaps she was naive taking the ad but I’d still like her to address her commenters questions regarding it. She is 20, and needs to stop acting so child-like, seriously.
Based, realistically shes not really one to recognise her privilege and I think thats her downfall, bc she can be quite relatable at times. And yeah I still can’t believe she didn’t address any of the comments about the NHS ad, like I really think she should’ve at least said something even if it was half arsed but instead shes just carried on posting as normal

It’s acad-ee-mia because it’s Greek
I know. I'm saying that in Latin it would be aca-day-mia, and that both are now in common usage. Much like everyone says Mo-ay when it should be M-wet - we assume the word is French, and pronounce accordingly when it is actually Dutch. However, both are now right because language evolves and moves.

Remember how quickly she moved home in March, at least a week before lockdown for even considered? Maybe her parents are also fearful of the virus, and perhaps want to encourage their children to be the same.

As others have said though, it could be that she couldn't cope with her fears of being alone and felt like she could only concentrate whilst at home in 'safety'.
Actually yeah does anyone know if her sister is coming home? Can't imagine she would be

Maybe I’m a cynic but I think ruby knows more than we give her credit for. As someone who spends all that time on extra projects it’s hard to believe she’s never looked into british politics even a little. Thinking about it did she post anything about BLM or the election? I can’t remember a comment from her on either but both fell quite a while ago now
Agreed. She’s always showing that she reads the news in her vlogs so she’s hardly ignorant of what’s happening in the UK right now and Marcus Rashford’s campaign is all over Twitter.

I really hope she addresses the paid ad. It would be so easy for her to apologise, admit it was naive/ignorant of her and to donate all of the ad money to FoodShare and then share some resources. Educate people on child food poverty instead of repeating Hands, Face, Space that we’ve all heard a million times.
