I don’t mind that sort of thing but I think its really odd how ruby has made it her entire personality, like every aspect of her lifestyle seems to be based off it and to me its just really strange to watch. I’m really surprised she hasn’t grown out of it yet, although tbf she comes across a lot less judgemental and superior than she used to

Probably her parents helped with the down payment and I have a hunch we always underestimate how much influencers earn from their social media channels. I think she had savings as she had started her channel quite young and still living at home i.e. no bills/expenses etc. to think of yet.
I think she’ll have saved it all herself, a smaller influencer than her would make about £500-1000 for a few Instagram posts, ruby will have raked it in with her long term sponsors etc! She will have 100% made enough to buy somewhere expensive on top of her student finance, I bet her parents helped her invest her money in the right places rather than giving her any money

i've also realised that she's not posting as many videos as before? which i think is better for her mental health

I don‘t think Ruby would choose to go back earlier than absolutely necessary . Afterall she came home pretty often.

I think Lydia Violetta gives a much more realistic picture of student life.
Lydia is definitely more reflective of real student life! The balance of being on society's committees and going out alongside studying is definitely more what the average student's week will be like.

If I grew up in a huge, old house like hers I'd probably be scared of being alone there too. Perhaps she couldn't let go of the fear when she moved to uni

I never knew Ruby had a thread - but I am usually elsewhere. I have a real soft spot for her as I went to Exeter too and she just seems really sweet. I really like her, but like the rest of you I am worried she is getting obsessive about exercise and eating. I wonder if it's because she isn't at university in the same way due to lockdown (and probably won't be come September either), and she hasn't got anything to focus on obsessively like she usually would. I think something about being the level of productive we see in these studytubers probably does indicate that they all have fairly obsessive personalities, I'm just worried for her mental health, which I know she is open about but might not want to address food/eating issues in case of being triggering to anyone...

Yeah, Ruby hasn't really twigged how to dress vintage in a modern way. So many people on YouTube could be her inspiration (e.g. Jessica Kellgren-Fozard).

Those glasses also really don't suit her - clear frames are hard to pull off at the best of times, but the lenses are also way too big for her face.
She doesn't dress vintage in a vintage way either imo, I feel like she wants to achieve something similar to Bernadette Banner but still wants to keep the childrens wardrobe aspect as well and it clashes a bit.

Dbs check? Whats she doing that for
Possibly for helping out on open days and other uni stuff? My uni required me to do one when I became an Ambassador (not sure what they’re called at Exeter). Just a guess though!

I don't see the point in uploading a video stating what time pre-orders start, AFTER the time pre-orders start...at least upload it about an hour or so beforehand

Luckily some Oxford colleges have said they'll accept people regardless of their official grades, and I suspect we'll see similar at other unis across the country.
That'll depend on the number of offers they've made. See my previous post for the explanation.

Why is it abnormal to like blue skies?!

She writes like someone who has heard certain terms before (like 'temperament' for example) and presumes she knows what they mean. She uses them in sentences to sound poetic, only it actually sounds obscure and not quite correct - reminds me of that guy from The Princess Bride:

Exactly! Like as far as I’m aware the word temperament is usually used to describe somethings mood / character, but its only really appropriate to use for sentient beings, not for the weather lol. Its so true though, she really doesn’t know the true nuanced meaning of a lot of the words she uses and it makes her writing sound so shit

I think that she's so obsessed with Hermione that she's based her personality and life around it.

Her accent, obsession with academia/being clever and reading. Just to name a few.

I know her family are well spoken but she absolutely takes it a bit further.

Ruby and Martha are total opposites - you can’t even believe that they are sisters. I wonder what their parents think about Martha getting covid because it seems like they were quite protective in the first lockdown but that may just be Ruby being quite obsessive about germs
