I found her Lookbook quite weird. Why does she walk around pretending to be a *13* year old when she‘s 20?!

In that 11 hour study video she also mentioned how freezing cold it was yet when she got into bed one could see that she wore a skirt but no tights?!

Performative does seem to be the word - I don’t think Ruby allows herself to have any chill days for lazing around etc. Going on long cycles then doing hours of gymnastics whilst also studying seems a little obsessive. Her whole day seems timetabled within an inch of its life. She seems lovely but it seems too much pressure to fulfil her to do list every day.

I find Ruby's sister Martha (or Marfa) abit strange, like she tries too hard to be the eccentric, cool , "give me attention" privileged kid with her piercings, outlandish fashion & 'vocal fry' voice.
Every time she appears in a vlog she has a brand new style!

Had to laugh at her reading a book while brushing her teeth at the same time, girl you can relax and just let your mind wander for two minutes, not everything has to be filled with something.
Ha ha yes, if I tried that I would end up with toothpaste and water all over the book. It seems obsessive, surely you’d only manage a page anyway.

Edit to add: their house is masssssssive! Each vlog and look book shows us more outdoor space each time! I get Pride and Prejudice Longbourne vibes. I wonder what her parents do for a living.

She needs to stop making to-do lists and rewriting notes several times. Literally I understand people who like making their notes pretty ( and admire it) but its not very efficient/practical for studying because your brain power is split between learning new info and focusing on keeping things organized/aesthetic/etc, at least I know I would get caught up with making my notes pretty and not absorb as much actual info.

Literally I just made messy notes and studied them. I certainly didn't rewrite them.
I’m quite like Ruby that I like my notes to look nice but I usually have messy class notes and then write up neater notes. But I wouldn’t keep re-writing the same notes in different ways like Ruby does

elena handtrack posted last night a couple of stories explaining the differences between #gifted, #ad and #unpaidad, and as far as i know, (maybe i understood it wrong) there's nothing bad about a #gifted product, right? it's just that one shop decides to send a product to an influencer for free and they decide (or not) to share it...
maybe i'm missing something? why are all of you concerned about it? (please understand that i'm not an expert on this matter, i'm truly curious to know why ruby's post might be a problem!! thank you❤)
I think its just the fact that she put the #gifted in like a size 5 font and put it to the side from the rest of the writing which was a normal size and easily readable. Obviously if you’re gifted something you don’t have to make a post about it as it is not an ad or anything, but if you do you should be very clear its been gifted to you. Like theres just no need to try hide the hashtag by making it tiny and unreadable, but for some reason she felt the need to. I don’t think its crime of the century or anything but I think its pretty rude to the company.

I don't know how that would be relevant. She does live in the countryside but she has fairly easy access to a train station at her will. Neither of her parents seem to have strict, away from home schedules, they can drive her when she wishes and she doesn't need a car in uni to socialize anyway. I guess it will depend on how her life will unfold after uni.

I've just watched her what to bring to uni video, and is she pretending to drink her tea during the end?!
Also, I can't believe how much her looks have changed (for the better) in the past few years.

I really struggled with the video of her reading whilst cooking tea for her family. I had visions of her getting burnt! I have never been as anxious watching a yt video as I was when watching that

I'll be honest, I never went to uni so just wanted to ask.

Is Ruby doing extra or is that the normal amount of uni work you're assigned?

It just seems like she's always working on her uni stuff but don't know if it's the normal amount or she's asked for extra work to do?

Hope this makes sense!
I'd recommend checking PaigeY's old Cambridge videos, especially first and second year ones. I cannot comment on Ruby's workload, I didn't go to Exeter or study her degree but if Paige could keep up with a NatSci degree at Cambridge, keep up with rowing, take up ballroom dancing on her first year and maintain a well balanced social life, I'm guessing it will not be an unimaginable amount of work for Ruby either. She probably has a lot more reading than a science degree but I don't think it's a crushing load of work at all. Plenty of people keep up with lectures as well as extracurriculars and social life. I guess Ruby prioritizes academic work over other things.

I don’t think it was terrible of her to go back home, but I do think the fact that she went to uni in the first place knowing that this pandemic was not going away, was certainly going to get worse, signed a lease on a flat and then left after one month really shows her privilege. Especially in a time where majority of people could not afford to be doing that, and considering all the job losses that have happened as well. So I can see why some people would look at it and not have too much sympathy for it, bc we’re all in this pandemic and sometimes you can’t help but compare experiences.
But at the end of the day situations change and if shes got mh then shes gotta do whats best for her.
Obviously I don’t know for sure what Ruby’s situation was, but when I was at uni we signed our contract for our second year house in February (and this was late!). If you waited any later, you’d get the bottom of the barrel houses. So it’s possible she signed before covid. Maybe the people on here at Exeter Uni will know better though.

She's probably got a student loan for tuition and pays for her own living costs with YouTube money that's topped up by her parents.
Nah that makes no sense, loans suck the interest on them is appalling. 9k is a massive step down from what they paid for her school each year, if they can afford it now then I reckon they pay it, coz getting a loan is a massive waste of money in the long run

What type of job do you guys think she'll end up doing after uni? I could see her pursuing higher education but I feel like she'll end up being a writer. She's always talking about writing her own things so maybe youtube will allow her to publish something in the coming years.
I can see her staying at uni for the longest time possible and then either staying at uni for a job or becoming a writer.

I had a skim of the gg thread and jfc its literally a mixture of ruby stans and people who are just way over the top horrible (I mean I thought I was harsh on her but some people on there are something else). In terms of the reddit post I’m thinking it might actually be real and about her, just because of some of the details they included and the fact its on reddit? I feel like if you wanted to make a fake post about her to try and get attention and make her look bad, you wouldn’t post it on reddit. Reddits not a massively obscure platform or anything but I don’t think its the sort of place that people who follow ruby / know who she is would go and read. I dunno

So she can afford the rent for a home she isn’t living in (just assuming, as it’s the most likely situation with a student lease) but reuses a teabag?

surely she’s got her priorities mixed up
I don't see how they're comparable, one is renting during a unforeseen pandemic and one is just causing a bit less waste and getting the most out of a product.

I agree, I also think it fits with her 'bookworm' aesthetic. When I saw she changed courses, I thought she would actually start doing more content around English literature but she hasn't done much at all on it, and when she talks about books it feels very shallow, she mainly says stuff like "I didn't like this book that much" but doesn't actually explain much about why. Not much in depth thought or critical thinking there. I've never felt she's had a true passion for it.
i agree, I think she has always LOVED reading in the same way others LOVE watching tv, for entertainment rather than analysis. I also think she does want to become an author and the more she reads and analyses texts in an english degree the better she will be able to incorporate ideas in her own writing. I do think religious studies would have been interesting to pursue too as deeper study towards becoming an author. I just think about CS Lewis and JRR Tolkien and their incorporation of religion in their books. tbh, you don’t need to study english to be an author, but I think that is partly why Ruby switched

Sorry I’m just going to say it.
She needs to grow up.

I think her parents baby her, she is a 20 year old. A young ADULT.
At her age I was pregnant with my second child, had my home, engaged, studying and worked part time. Maybe I grew up far too quickly, but I can guarantee even as a teenager I would not be asking my mother to film me dancing around dressed up as a character.
Are you a popular influencer ?

This comment is very uncalled for.

Hey all! Long time lurker here. I often see you post about Ruby's private schooling and I was wondering if you would genuinely judge / hold it against someone if they went through private education? For example, if someone acted completely 'normal' (whatever that means) and was aware of their privilege, yet still went to private school, would you hold it against them?
Nope, I’m just against people that don’t recognise their own privilege or those that have and look down on others.
