I really do hope she's alright. I don't think an ED is out of the question, what with her OCD tendencies and need for perfection. I'm a lot more sympathetic towards Ruby's mental health than the likes of Eve. Ruby is at least, proactive in seeking help, rather than fishing around for attention and reassurance.

I actually really like her, I want her to go far (silly as it sounds).

Still kind of petty to include that and also not explain in the video it wasn't her flatmates (until after everyone had assumed it was). It did sound like male voices, but it also sounded like they were indoors so potentially her flatmates friends? What does she expect living in a university city though?

at this point, her daily to do list can be like:
- pull out chair
- sit on chair
- take out pens
- light candle
- open notebook
etc etc etc

Does anyone else think she has such detailed to do lists every day so that she can seem productive because she gets to tick lots of things off? It wouldn’t surprise me if she starts to add stuff like that to her lists!

I’ve just been prepping for a seminar this week in a humanities based subject and Ruby definitely makes more work for herself. All I’ve done is the set reading, quick look at some further reading, and brief answers to discussion questions (not even a full page of notes). It’s not always necessary to write everything from set reading, never mind write it out multiple times. If it works for her then I guess that’s okay but she’s putting out the wrong message that you have to make loads of notes/ read lots for a 1st at uni.

I agree, it's a beautiful house! They have quirky stuff around too which I really like. She's very lucky, I love her windows and her green lush view outside. I usually like living in a city but also noise makes me anxious so I adore her calm, quiet living space.

I like Ruby's videos even though I'm a bit older than her target audience, because I find them relaxing and motivating. But she just seems so stiff and set in her ways, and I wonder if she has trouble making friends and connecting with people. I get vibes that she would be very judgmental of people drinking, partying, and being promiscuous in the way that's typical of her age group.

She strikes me as the type that would be very secretive about her relationships, she never discusses romance or romantic relationships. Again, I think it’s part of regression back to her childlike state...

Also, what on Earth is that tutu in one of her most recent posts? The child regression becomes more apparent every day. I know she said she was having counselling - I hope it continues, I genuinely worry about how she’ll cope as an adult after her study days fade away...

I wonder what Ruby would be like in a 9-5 job - she'd probably constantly take her work home with her to fill the evenings. She never truly switches off as it is.

I have colleagues like this. Overcomplicate everything and make out like they're so busy and productive. It seems to fill a gap in their lives.

I see a pattern between Ruby and Holly Gabrielle. Both of them struggle with social interactions and are obsessed with productivity...and both of them are working towards their own businesses (Ruby for Pumpkin Productivity and Holly for her tutoring lessons). If they don't change their minds, I see both of them working at home, being self-employed, and not improving their social lives at all...

I know someone who went to Oxford and I know they like you to have other interests and hobbies rather than just have brilliantly academic you are. I wonder if the lack of other interests could have been part of her downfall as well?

I agree with this. She's just so insular and one dimensional, the complete opposite of what Oxford are looking for. She desperately needs to gain some life experience and broaden her tiny horizons. I think this could well have been her undoing in the Oxford interview. How is it her and her sister are so totally different? So it's not like her parents brought her up to be what she is today?

^As someone who was on the old GG thread, I’m pretty sure several people suspected the reddit post was written by someone on GG, especially because of the mice - people were convinced her keeping snacks in her room would invite them in, there was a whole page of back-and-forth conversation about it. Everything written on Reddit was talked about on GG. Ruby never mentioned anything about mice.

I mean, there’s a poster there who was oddly obsessed with her, and even made an odd comment that she shouldn’t show the quiet areas in Exeter she went to because she’d be inviting...something bad to happen to her. I’m pretty sure someone was trying to prove a point.

Im glad you said this. I was gonna suggest it myself. It’s the part about her rolling her eyes at the loud people that sounded exactly like it had been lifted out of GG.

I love Ruby and I'm really impressed and inspired with her work ethic. One thing I can never understand tho is how she manages to film these "productive day with no sleep videos", when I have a sleepless night I'm literally a zombie during the day. I must be really out of shape to have my whole day ruined if I don't get my sleep lol

Yes you’re right i was being overly harsh, on the face of it she is harmless if not naive (nhs ad ), but, she is sweet and yes bright too. I’m not keen on the look book thing, moreso the twirling around and skipping if anything - she should be good at drama btw.

If I put it this way. I think she has so much potential and privilege to explore the world, pursue her educational desires...it seems, to me, that she is being held back from that..maybe confidence maybe parents babyfying her I’m not sure. sorry if I upset anyone!

I personally don't see Ruby ever getting a "normal job"

I reckon she'll probably go for her Master's and PHD before wanting to write full time.

Ruby doesn't strike me as the type to want to work with people and would rather be on her own.

In fairness to Ruby she's 20 (21?) and living away from home during a global pandemic. I know some people might be completely fine with doing that but for others it's actually not ideal, particularly if your mental health isn't great (which Ruby has said hers isn't before). I'm a 24 year old student doing my second degree and I'm homesick sometimes despite having not lived permanently at home for years. It's also worse at the moment because I went home during lockdown (the first one) and so now have to readjust to being alone again (I live alone).

I know some people are very independent and can totally cope with living alone (and we don't know that her flatmate hasn't gone home, prompting this!) but others can't and I think it's a bit unfair to criticise her so heavily. I know this is a Tattle site but sometimes I think people forget that everyone is different and if she's not breaking rules or whatever then it's kind of an unnecessary criticism. I also know that a fair few of us on here are a bit older than Ruby and might do well to remember what it was like to be 20.

Agreed, I came back home at the start of the whole thing and I'm still here because my offices aren't opening properly for another couple of weeks. I was down briefly in July but I just couldn't cope with it personally. I'm only a couple of years older than you as well and had lived across the country from my family for years before now, I can't even imagine being Ruby's age and having to go through this

My landlord is very understanding and has cut my rent but paying that to keep the flat I love, storage for my stuff and the peace of mind of being with family right now is 100% worth it to me. I'm dreading going back in January if I'm being honest with myself!

Honestly I used to really hate Ruby but I think she’s the most tolerable studytuber nowadays. She isn't perfect but her intentions never seem bad.

She does seem more grown up. But at the same time there are certain things she does that make me cringe quite badly for her. It‘ll be interesting to see what she’ll do after her undergrad.
