Yes, just like Jack Edwards is experiencing now. If you aren't perpetually a student, you aren't going to get the same demographics of audience that you did as a first year Fresher. If you can't develop your content as your own life changes, and try to cling to the student demographic you profited so much from, you'll just alienate yourself.
She pretty much admitted that she's one of those students who over-shares (to the detriment of other people's contributions).On her latest video around the 7 min mark she wrote notes on what to ask her tutor on feedback (on an essay she got a 1st) and I quote:
“You say my conclusion doesn’t add up with my thesis statement, but I feel it does.”
Then goes on to cite examples of how the tutor is wrong.
I’m assuming she’s going to word it nicely to her tutor but that comes across as massively passive aggressive
I never have had that confidence at uni lol but I only got a 2:1 sooooo haha

That is a quote from Anne of Green Gables, and I think it was used in the series Anne with an E as well. I believe the character was feeling joyous for being able to experience true autumn days; that's the context of the gratefulness of the quote.

I read the Erimentha novel out of curiosity and it’s not *that* bad, it’s just quite odd. There’s a saying that first novels are usually autobiographical (and also that fist novels shouldn’t be published) and I felt that was the case here. The main character is oddly precocious and it read very much like an older teenager doing a bit of wish-fulfilment and writing themselves into the eleven-year old they wanted to be. Strange parents in the book too, again I don’t know if this was autobiographical or again, wish fulfilment. Lots of material for a therapist! I honestly didn’t see the main character as horrible, it read more to me like a book about a character who may or may not be somewhere on the Aspie spectrum.
Yeah I'm not sure how UK universities work but studying history (and French) at an Australian university I only used flashcards for new vocab and grammar. For history I never even did all the readings, I'd pick an essay topic early on (all of our assessment were research or reflective essays) and do the week's readings for the corresponding topic and then do a ton more reading around it. Ended up with a first at a very good uni while balancing multiple jobs, volunteering and sporting commitments. It's about studying smart!
it’s a lot easier to get published as a successful YouTuber. Just look at Zoella and all her “friends” who had shitty “books” published in the blink of an eye. I think publishers are very interested in working with those who already have an established fan base, that guarantees a certain number of sales. Plus she can pitch her planner sales to them to show she’s been successful in a similar area in the past.
Loool chile, no one suggested it was, people just said it was overpriced which makes it a bit inaccessible to her young following, which is true. And tbh even as an adult I find 16£ for a planner pretty over priced
Listen, I'm all for clarifying feedback that you disagree with on an essay, but that just sounds petty af. Sorry for the double post - I went to a private school from a normal primary school but the feeder school into my secondary school was a prep school and everyone was frightfully middle class. I'm solidly middle class so wasn't even from a massively different background to them, but they singled me out right away as weird and a 'hippie' (....I can assure you I wasn't) and it trashed what little confidence I had joining the school as a shy introvert when there were already pre-established cliques and rules/things I didn't know about (like how cool it was to wear Jack Wills). Honestly, the whole experience was bewildering and at the time it was very hard to verbalise why I was so unhappy because it wasn't about the money, but the 'life experience' (in huuuuuge quotes because we were all 11 for gods sake haha) all these other girls seemed to have and I didn't.
