Rubys insta story - talking about A level results in what I'm assuming is a paid ad and how there are always options regardless of A level result etc etc
All the StudyTubers (adults!) have been going on about their own A levels all day.

Here's my favourite, for the irony factor:

They should’ve said a generic good luck and left it at that. You can’t compare this to normal times at all. Has eve Cornwell said anything on it? She’s the same management so would be interested to see if she did or not
she posted this story yesterday
so far, i think she's been the only studytuber (if we can still call her that) that hasn't tried to make it all about herself and her A level experience

Yes it's hugely tone deaf of her: this year's cohort were systemically downgraded by the government's algorithm which favours private education and affluent areas. 100% not the same thing, but Ruby doesn't really have much nuance in her thoughts so I'm not really surprised that she thinks these situations are remotely comparable (e.g. all of her book reviews are "it's so so good, it's beautifully written").

Why is she doing what looks like chemistry?? She’s an English student and I swear she didn’t even do chemistry A-level. Is she so obsessed with studying that’s she giving herself even more work??

Edit: I’ve just been told that Ruby did chemistry a-level so it’s probably a-level video!

actually, she did chemistry a-level! i can't say why, i remember she explained in a video that there was some sort of relation between english lit and chemistry (??), but yeah, she did chemistry, religion studies and english

Ahh my bad sorry!! I didn’t realise! She never struck me as a chemistry person!

This might be ignorant of me, so apologies if I come off as shallow but did she pick RS as an A level subject and then Theology as her first degree because she's religious? I vaguely remember her mentioning she's an atheist but I don't know if I made this up.

This isn't to judge her either way, it's not my business at all, but I found it interesting that she's chosen these in the past as focus points as a person who doesn't seemingly practice religion apart from her academic studies.

University of Leicester did the same though, and they're only really a mid-ranked uni. Definitely within the 'average' bracket.

She's agnostic/atheist and comes from a non religious family. I'm not sure what prompted the interest, being as she didn't go to a particularly religious school either. I wonder if there's anything in the wider family to explain the interest!

I go to the University of Leicester! They have cancelled a load of courses for this year though so it may simply be that they now can offer people places/accommodation purely because a load of courses aren’t running now. They’ve cancelled my course for first years which sucks (I’ve just finished second year).

No hate intended, I went to UoL as well! I'm glad to be out of the uni stage at this point though, it's so horrible for students at the moment.

And that's how they've managed to do it. It's a world away from Oxford where you get a place on the course you applied for.

Oh gosh no, I didn’t think there was any hate intended!! I totally agree, my year abroad has been cancelled and I know that’s nowhere near as bad as a-level students but it’s no fun for students right now!

It gives me the creeps that she’s 20 and acts so infantile. She’s very clever, but has zero life skills or experience.. heaven forbid she had to enter the real world and stand on her own two feet.. she’d have a massive shock.

I like Ruby but I also wonder how she will/would function in a regular office environment or a stressful day job where she can't choose to stick to her bubble. She's quite rigid about her lifestyle. I think she would do well in academia but commanding a class and being able to teach are very different skills compared to just being knowledgeable and enjoying learning. I had a professor in uni who was one of the top people in his subject but could not teach for shit. We all hated his class.

I can’t imagine her in an open plan office where half the office find her boring or they don’t engage, and the other half are messy and pinch her washi tape and pens, and her boss would say you only have half a day to produce xyz, so she can’t spend a week planning the heck out of something making lists about lists, she would just have to get on with things. I still watch Ruby for some of the aesthetic stuff though it annoys me when she says “I like this because it is aesthetic”. I like some of the Miss Patina clothes but wouldn’t have a wardrobe full of them, dressing as teenage Anne with an E, for example. In reality I think Ruby will keep down the self-employed route so she can continue with the aesthetics and productivity days. Perhaps she will be a proof reader, or an editor or similar? I just can’t see her working in a busy corporation’s open plan office.

I see a pattern between Ruby and Holly Gabrielle. Both of them struggle with social interactions and are obsessed with productivity...and both of them are working towards their own businesses (Ruby for Pumpkin Productivity and Holly for her tutoring lessons). If they don't change their minds, I see both of them working at home, being self-employed, and not improving their social lives at all...

I found her Lookbook quite weird. Why does she walk around pretending to be a *13* year old when she‘s 20?!
