Is anyone else finding Ruby's videos a bit triggering for their ED? I had pizza last night and watched the night time routine video where she just had mainly veggies and a bit of pasta and no (vegan) cheese. It reminds me of my own restrictive habits. Especially the way she pulled a face at the thought of cheese. I remember convincing myself/others I didn't like certain foods anymore. I'm finding myself bodychecking Ruby a lot which I never used to do before because there's so much emphasis on her size and diet now in her videos/photo angles. I think I'll take a step back from following her for a bit for my own sanity tbh because I hate myself when I'm like this, and I've worked so hard not to this obsessive about other's body/diet and my own. It might sound dumb but her doing yoga before bed really tipped me off the edge - cos I'm literally eating and going to bed. Again, I recall working out in the mornings and before bed and how much I was able to lose doing that, and how much I sometimes still feel that urge now. I don't know you guys - it feels less productivity inspiring and more toxic producitivity. Her habits could be perfectly innocent but at the moment, with a bit of lockdown pudge on, I feel awful and weakwilled as it is with my own diet and exercise and content that drops hints like this doesn't help. If she does have something ED going on, I hope she can get through it because it is devastating even when you're in recovery. It could be that there's other things going on -intolerances she has to accommodate, a lack of appetite due to stress, a genuine urge to eat healthy that may be bordering on orthorexia now but the unintended effect for me is that it's triggering. I wish my brain didn't overthink stuff like this but it's hard not to and I can see by others comments on here a lot of you feel the same. Look after yourself and don't be afraid to unfollow her and this thread if it's provoking anything.
Damn, that is awful I am so sorry you feel like that, you’re doing the right thing unfollowing! I feel sorry for Ruby if she does have an ED but tbh she needs to be more mindful of what she posts. If it makes you feel any better, remember that her videos are super heavily edited and she defo eats a lot more than she shows on camera 💜💜

Thanks for the kind words. It's no ones fault so don't want anyone to think I'm blaming Ruby. If she genuinely has an ED, she's not thinking about how irresponsible sharing this stuff is cos that's not the ED mindset, so it is what it is. Would just say if anyone else is finding they're overthinking stuff cos of her content, take a step back. I watched that video last night and the first thing I thought this morning was about it lol which is kinda sad considering I'm an adult with a job and responsibilities.
There's plenty of other people I follow to escape from things and have a little snark on tattle so I'll just go on those threads :)

look after yourself ♥ something that has helped me over the years is following people who show that they genuinely enjoy food, and who share that their weight fluctuates and it is not a big deal. i find that much more enriching than following ruby

Yeah, I love cooking channels for that reason! It's nice to see people proud of the food they cook and eat, and I pick up a lot of tips too!

So Ruby has started a bit of a tag. Where everyone else can just flex how much better their decorating, research and editing skills are.

Bernadette banner did a video a while back following a Victorian hair routine and also wearing a real corset vs medical back brace thingy video so it’s not exactly like Ruby started the whole “being a Victorian” thing anyway lol

On the topic of her new interest in gardening, I’m actually very excited to see it. She definitely needs a hobby that doesn’t involve being productive or acting like a child. Plus, gardening is a great way to help mental health.
