She really doesn't comprehend that 'women throughout history who were independant learners' didn't set out with the goal of being 'women throughout history who were independant learners'. They were people with a keen interest in a certain area that they were passionate about learning about and so did. And they just so happened to be women. It's something that occurred oragnically out of their genuine interest and curiosity for the subject. Trying to force it seems very weird.

I have a personal study interest in theoretical physics. I don't need to spend an entire day planning when I'm going to force myself to do it, it's something that I am naturally drawn to playing around with when I have a spare afternoon. Because I have a genuine interest in deep diving into frameworks for no other reason than the enjoyment I get out of doing so. You jump into a topic with no idea or expectations of where it's going to take you I don't need to plan out what I'm going to research or what readings I'm going to do because it's something that evolves naturally out of the work I'm already doing. There is no curriculum, ergo, independant learning. If you're planning and scheduling when you're going to do what and when, it's not independant learning, it's a self-assignment. A chore.

Omg a new video, and that title! we really got a buckle up.
Oh good she is out of ideas, so she is trying to jump on "IS BOOKTOK BADD?" wagon. But she is so damn late, this topic is like 6 months old. -Ancient- (Remember there was this article by an ex booktuber? and almost every book influencer commented on it 6 months ago~)

Also her voice over itches my ears, its like she is holding the mic IN her mouth. Like girl get out of my ear. Feels like my personal space is violated.

Well I do give some credit that it isn't another room/desk/planner tour or am/pm routine for the 100th time.

A couple of comments that stood out.

I have no real thoughts on Book Tok other than mentally shelving it alongside everything else I dislike about the app, but I completely agree with WordShaker95.

I'm also bored by the Early Modern English shoehorning. Either these vlogs are working towards her PhD application or she is a bit stuck for content.

Several others need to make videos on this, also she needs her followers to tell her what they think, so that she can pick up the ones she like, ones she thinks will make her look good, and then go "Actually, I always thought, we tend to, as a society..."

But tbh Rumbster never would. Smut?! Good heavens, this is a child (prodigy, thank you) you're talking to!

Can’t this woman formulate a sentence without that weird smug smile she does? I think it’s probably just due to her script being over-rehearsed but it seems so self righteous and also nervous? Probably a combination of all 3.

I also find it funny she has a habit of saying ‘‘when I was younger I did X or believed Y’’ but instead of a reflection or lesson she’s learned recently she means ‘younger’ when she was literally 7 or 8 years old lol. It’s such a strange and juvenile way of talking about yourself past your teens.

If you have to put in a disclaimer that your phone case was not gifted and this isn’t an ad, because you know people will ask (understandably, because you’ve been sponsored by the company before), it’s a sign that you should maybe 1) declare ads and gifted products more consistently and 2) try bleeping paying for stuff a bit more often instead of angling for gifted stuff all the time.

Oh and wearing a sweater you got at age THARTEEN is still not a flex. It just proves you’ve let it sit in your jumble of a closet unworn for 11 years, as well as giving ED dogwhistles.

I haven’t even watched her new video yet and I’m already fed up. She’s insufferable.

She's definitely getting worse IMO as her behaviour is getting weirder and weirder. I also had to skip through the video as it was just so boring.

I've tried watching this 3 times now and fallen asleep twice, there's a part where she's essentially saying the text (story) won't exist without the book object. She literally uses kindle app and PDF books/essays etc 🤡

‘Women throughout history‘ who were ‘independent learners’ also tended to be so because they didn’t have access to the same formal educational opportunities as men. That and ‘independent lAARRRHHNING’ tended to be the preserve of the wealthy - a fact that seems to have flown right over Ruby’s head. These ‘women throughout history‘ would be spinning in their graves at the thought of a young women who has squandered the opportunities that her era and wealth have given her, so that she can sit in her bedroom and faff about with watercolours and stickers.

I get that the weather hasn’t been oppressively hot, but the way she wears sweaters and heavy winter clothes in the middle of August— sorry, I mean “pre-autumn” will always baffle me.

Ruby a month ago: "Here's my last ever Oxford video!"
Ruby a few days later: "Here's another Oxford video!"
Ruby now: "Here comes a few weeks more Oxford videos!"

It goes without saying that nobody recommended staggering any videos. She's just milking whatever pointless scraps of B-roll from Oxford so she can spend a few more months giving the impression that she's still an AWKSFWUD STEEYEUDUNT.

Yup!

And while she's shouting that it's not an ad or gifted, she makes zero mention that she got this exact style of case before because they gifted it to her (along with a few other cases) and paid her to advertise the brand. Not only has she cried wolf far too many times to have the gall to get snippy about it when she advertises brands, but she's still lying.

"I've been sponsored by Casetify in the past and they gifted me phone cases before, but I loved their cases so much I bought this one myself!" would've covered it, but instead she goes out of her way to hide her past business association with brands and just passive-aggressively insists that it's "NOT AN AD!" when people fairly assume they're ads.

And with her laughably claiming that she's conscientiously going out of her way to declare BARDEN BLAND ads "for transparency," I'm guessing she's been on Tattle again and realised that she's still getting caught every time she does it. I'd love to see her explanation why she refuses to offer the same "transparency" in every other video where she's awkwardly waving gifted/sponsored products at the camera every 45 seconds or less.

Damn, whose cringy ass comment is this?

A rule of Tattle is to keep it on Tattle. If you actually can't take it anymore, just stop watching lol. it's never that serious, trust me. Also mentioning the website by name feels unreasonable, she should have the chance to ignore the content if she wants to, hence the rule about keeping it on Tattle.
